Japonica: Dance of the Red Crowned Crane

STORYLINE: As snowflakes drifted downward to the icy shores of Hokkaido, Tsuru hiked into the deep snow, going further and further until she spotted what she sought, -- the elegant Red Crowned Cranes. She smiled at their hopping and fluttering wings. Their mating ritual inspired her to don the crane's colors and join them. Maybe if these mystical creatures  liked her dance enough, they would grant her wish for the coming new year.

Fantasy Faire 2017: The Fall of Morbus

STORYLINE: Farion the pixie wasn't too sure of his quest companion at first. The wizard was shifty looking. But they soon bonded over their shared skintone and joked, "Team Blue to the Rescue!" Turned out the guy was good at hunting ingredients for the spell they needed to save the Bard Queen and he was even able to brew it himself. (Only a few mishaps, nothing serious like the massive explosion when Farion last tried potions.) They were too busy slapping high-fives after defeating a giant winged demon that they failed to realize, "defeated" is not the same "gone." Unknown to them, a tiny hitchhiker joined their group.

The Fantasy Faire is fading into fond memories now. Fantasy Faire 2017: Atlantean Prince

STORYLINE: The Spirit Pool was a land-oasis where humans came to interact with those who lived under the waves. It was in this magical place, a visiting herbalist met the Atlantean Prince. The scientist had been searching for plants that could help combat the worst diseases. He thought perhaps, plants in the ocean might be the key. The Prince thought it was an excellent idea, he would love to help! "But," he thought to himself, "why not let the researcher hunt the sea for plants himself ?"  So with a wink, and a wave of his father's trident, the Prince transformed his new friend into a funny looking fish with a gigantic eye. “To better search by!" the Prince laughed. "Don't worry, it's only temporary. Come on, lets go explore!”

Fantasy Faire 2017 has an extension and will last to the end of the day, May 4th. If you visited and explored yet, there's still time! The Faire has once again raised a huge sum for Relay for Life, cancer research. Well done gang!!

STORYLINE: Fennimore was tired of being picked on. He knew how to defend against the Dark Arts, he just wasn't fast enough to deflect. His girlfriend from Hufflepuff suggested he try out for the Ravenclaw Quidditch team. "It will do you good, Fenni. Help improve your reflexes." Grudgingly "Frail" Fenni accepted the Quidditch team's challenge: Deliver a scroll before the sun sets. Of course it's never that easy, the members of the team would do everything possible to distract, throw him, lead him astray, or trap him, whatever it took to stop his Sunset Run. "On our mark..." Fennimore put on his goggles. "...Set"  He tightened his grip on the broom. "... GO!"

The delightful Wizarding Faire has returned to the Mischief Managed RP sim and it's bigger then ever. There are products and gachas to tickle your magical whimsies. Shown above is the new FATEplay Quidditch team outfit for Ravenclaw. You can even get it in blue and silver, or by-the-book blue and yellow. The outfit includes cape, pants, shinpads, sweater, and a flyable broom. It comes in male, female, and child sizes. BUT that's not all! For the first time I have seen in SL is animating clothing! The cape will begin to flap when you fly. (Check out the gif animation of it below.) To the outfit I added the FATEplay dueling gloves. They come with a hud to change the texture, and open or close the hands. Also from FATEplay is the Evans Ravenclaw scarf. It comes in male, female, and multiple draped positions. Quick as a Bunny Takeout of the Congo

STORYLINE: There was nothing quite like racing down the thick muddy waters of the Congo with his pet fennec by his side. Schools of wading waterfowl would squawk loudly their displeasure as his steamplane roared past. Together with an old mate, they formed a takeout restaurant. The food turned out to be a hit with the locals and tourists. And he relished every chance he got to race along the waterways delivering steaming spicy foods.

This post was inspired by the SL12B party held by Linden Labs at the Wilderness sim. It's a multi-sim jungle with lots of fun things to do. For my explorations on the Dark Continent, I'm wearing the new FATEwear Belo camouflage texture shorts. They some with full length pants too. I'm using an unusual bonus color that's in scripted fatpack. The Phillips hoodie is also using a bonus color from it's fatpack. I like the two tone fades. You can wear the hoodie up or down. I'm using several designers for my Steampunk Safari style. The Steampunk boots, belt, and bag by Death Row are in the current round of The Arcade. It's an entire gacha of clothing and accessories for men! Many good pieces can be won.  From Swagga is the awesome animated Flutter robo-dragon pet. He's holding the picnic basket from the Linden Premium member gifts for the beach. The steampunk Bunny Mask is also by Swagga. It was a free gift for the Seraphim's birthday party. The retro mic earphones are by Remarkable Oblivion, as well as the Messenger bag. The adorable Fennec is by Half Deer and it's a gacha at Kustom 9. I love fennecs. They come in various poses, and the one here in the image is the animating rare that walks along with you. The bracelets and rings are by Mandala and they come with a texture change hud.  I used these awesome old school prim socks by Rosem to poke out from the boots. I serious need more things like this. And another thing I need is collar like thing to work on the TheMeshProject body. The hack I used actually a free headband by Modern Elegance I turned into a collar. It has a "don't look under the collar and see my vampire bite" sort of feel and I like it. lol And the last gem to finish off my Steam Safari style is the fun BareRose Steam Hummingbird plane. You wear it and it appears like you are flying around. Love it. It can be won in the raffle by camping out at BareRose.

World Goth Fair: What We Do In Cursed, 4

STORYLINE: Wrath got caught smuggling during the Scarlet Rebellion. After he lost his job when the Deathhead Scouts were disbanded, he didn't know what to do with himself. He had two great passions: Bats, and giving the middle finger to the authorities. He went on to become the first Carrier Bat Keeper in Cursed (similar to Carrier Pigeons but with squeaks and midnight runs). His bats became a popular way to smuggle secret messages out of Cursed.

Fantasy Faire: The Dark Magican

STORYLINE: The Unweaver once more brought strife to the Fairelands. The Bard Queen sent many  brave souls to seek the Champions and find the Lost Land where her daughter was held prisoner. However for the Dark Magician she had an urgent top secret mission: Find the Unweaver and bring him to justice!

FANTASY FAIRE 2015! I love this event, it's just pure magic. Fantasy Faire is one of the biggest events of the year. It celebrates the genre while doing a massive fund drive for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. There are 13 beautifully designed sims each with their own theme. There are over 150 designers with fantastic products to fuel your imagination. Each day there are various Role Plays going on throughout the sims, including jailing troublemakers (to release them, they must raise enough funds to make bail). There is a giant art sim with 4 galleries of work from some of the best Fantasy Photographers in SL. You can party with the Fantasty Faire DJs, or attend a story reading. And one of the coolest things you can do during the event is the Fantasy Faire: The Lost Lands Hunt. (more about that below)

From Fantasy Faire, I am wearing one of the Relay for Life donations by Wasabi Pills, Jaden. It also includes 2 other colors. The Cured necklace by Other Skin comes in either male or female. The Guardians Cloak you can pick up at the Poppetsborough landing. Touch the cloak to change the outer color. It comes with fits for male and female, and 2 child sizes. To begin your quest on the Lost Lands Hunt, head to the Fairelands Junction. There are portals there that connect to each sim in the Faire. I hope you like swimming with the fishes, because this year's junction is underwater! Here you can find the Low Lag Skins gifts by The Plastik in light and dark for male and female. The Hunt Huds you can also find here. There are two versions: the basic is 250L, and the 350L deluxe includes an outfit by BareRose for girls and guys. This year's hunt hud uses video so make sure you enable media in your viewer. The story is written by Saffia Widdershins of Prim Perfect and Designing Worlds. The champions are a richly varied bunch, each with their own backstory. (Believe it or not, yours truly played the character of Bisclavret!) I encourage you to check out the Book of Champions and enjoy all these fun mini stories within the main story arc. The massive Pose Fair 2015 ends today. If you haven't dropped by yet, don't miss it! There are poses for girls, guys, couples, dance animations, ... and something totally new to me, HUDS!

Shown above is the Tillies Hud. I am totally a new to using a hud helper for my picture taking, but it's amazing. I'm kicking myself for not doing this sooner! I've been experimenting with the different tools in this hud. One part of the hud am I am crazy in love with, -- being able to save multiple camera positions! Now when I crash while taking a picture, I can return right back where I was. THERE ARE 10 CAMERA SAVES! This is so amazing. Think about it, say you are making vendor pictures of a product. You want the images to be consistent and only the product or avatar changes, right? Well this with handy tool you can save you camera positions for your ads and your vendor pictures will be consistant for today, tomorrow, even a year from now! As long as you keep your camera preset, you are good to go. It works on all viewers. The hud also has sets for poses, saves windlights, changes backdrop, and more. Dev’s How To Guide for the Tillies v5  Hud Camera Control:

How to Save a Camera Angle:

1) Position camera where you want it. 

2) On the upper left side, select the camera icon.

3) Choose a number in the circles on the right side of the hud.

4) Click once to turn it pink.  (meaning you have selected it)

5) Click it again to turn it purple (meaning the camera angle is now saved)

6) Move your camera where ever you like.

How to return to a Saved Camera Angle:

1) When you want to return to a saved camera position, hit the esc key on your keyboard.

2) Now choose one of the numbers in the purple circles on the right side of the hud.

3) Click it.  Wa La! Camera angle is restored!

Q: But Dev, what if I crash?

A: Crashing is when the saved camera positions will really save you time! The hud saves the camera, so you can restore and pick right up where you left off before the crash.

Q: Ok cool, but what if I want to switch viewers?

A: No problem! I tried it in both Firestorm and the Official Viewer. The camera angle was exactly the same, doesn't matter what viewer you choose!  Pretty cool, huh?  ^^  (TIP: you can use the Save Windlights presets to transfer your lighting also when moving to anther viewer.)

Q: Oh I spammed up all my Saved Camera Positions, how do I get rid of them?

A: Simple, see below.

How to delete Camera Positions

1) Select the saved position you want to delete. (it will turn pink when selected)

2) Now look on your hud in upper left side for the Skull and Crossbones.

3) Click it. Boom! Saved position is now gone and the circle returns to grey (blank).

How can shuffle through camera positions quickly? (yes, I am lazy) lol

1) Next to the Skull and Crossbones are two arrows on either side of the letters “Cam”

2) Click those to shuffle quickly through your saved camera positions.

Smuggler of the Wastelands

STORYLINE: Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night, the contraband must get through! Aleksei lived a dangerous life smuggling goods past rival territories for his boss, the God of the Wastelands. While many failed, Aleksei had an amazing delivery record. The secret to his success was his willingness to venture into the radioactive Exclusion Zone. Any fool who valued their life wouldn't dare follow him there. The way he figured it, no one lived past 35 in these brutal times, so what did it matter if he lost a few years of his life each time went? He was never going to die of old age anyway.

Get your motor running! At the brand new event for men onl, The Arena, you can score some seriously badass stuff. It's by the Fantasy Gacha gang and it has a combination of gachas, limited editions, and items for sale. The Sau motorcycle above is a limited edition for the event. I seriously love Sau motorcycles, they are 100% original creations and wonderfully made. Normally they would cost you a lot of Ls, but this one is only 398L, so don't miss it! Also from the Arena are the cool wrist wraps with knifes by 7 Mad Ravens. The knifes come in clean and bloody. The Makeshift Bag backpack from Swagga is mod so you can adjust the fit. And in the front is the Sweet Lies canteen.

Over at The End event, is this fantastic new outfit Max by FATEplay. It includes a badass bullet belt that I love so hard, a cool jacket with shirt you can wear under it, a face mask, jeans, and boots too! That's right, FATEwear is now also creating shoes. The boots are included in the outfit, however if you want to mix it up and change the colors on the boots, get the Turner Boots with the color hud. Like all FATEwear products, the FATEstep shoes are also mesh that isn't heavy, so you can wear your new FATEplay and FATEstep at busy events and not suffer from the lag as much as other people. Above I am wearing the Alt version of the Max outfit. There is girl's version too. In the background is the new Death Row Old Trailer hangout on sale at The End. It's 27 land impact, and includes solo poses for girls and guys, couple, and adult poses.

The TAG Gacha has begun! If you haven't done it yet, hop over to the TAG Gacha website to see the gacha and how to play. Be sure to slap the Tag Banner at each store to unlock it on the hud. I really loved this event, the start, bonus room and coupon rooms are all wonderfully made, and the gachas are all fun with a dark twist. STORYLINE: "Want to play with me?" Nurse Hurtz smiled menacingly. Dirt gulped. Maybe he didn't have broken arm after all, it was just a sprang, right? He turned to leave, but two of Seth's guards blocked his path. He had a really bad feeling about this. He had heard rumors about bizarre medical experiments going on, but he never believed it. Until now.

This set by Death Row is so fun, with this flickering electric plasmas, cathode ray tubes, glowing flasks of goo and gizmos. Each piece from a gacha is mod and low land impact.  There are 2 rares, the operating table, and the black science lab desk. Both rares include lots of poses for single male and female, couples, and adult. Have fun, and try not to create any freaks of nature who might come back for revenge. Boowahahhaaaa *throws the power switch on*

Adventures in Linden Lab's Winter Wonderland

When I heard about Linden Labs' new Winter Wonderland destination, I did a happy dance. This was exactly what I hoped the Labs would do when they asked for suggestions a few months ago. I really enjoyed the Haunted House ride for Halloween. This new addition is even larger! The Linden Portal has become a busy place. Love it!

Winter Wonderland is 4 connecting sims. It all mesh and looks great with advanced lighting and materials. When you land, be sure to accept the Experience Keys when they pop up. In the town zone, there are gifts for everyone, be sure to pick those up. You can catch the fireworks show at the top of each hour. In the snowball fight zone, you can choose from Snow Pistol or Snow Rifle. Members of the premium club have a 3rd choice, the Snow Bazooka. (NOTE: To get the premium gifts, go the Linden sandbox and click the gift vendors. Wear the Ribbon and Medal to get the extra options. Not a member? Right now there is a 50% off sale to join.) The weapons for snowball fight work inside the snowball zone. To use the snow guns outside the sim, you need to wear the gift versions. Over in park zone, The Ferris Wheel has a funny sign. To seat two people it's tricky, but keep trying. One person on the left and the other on the right. There are free skates in the ice rink, and you can customize your skates too. Over on the race track zone, you can choose a snowboard or snowmobile. The snowmobile can seat 2 people. Watch out on the snowboard, it has a jetpack on the back. You can easily fly off the course and land on someone's head. ...Maybe that's why one of them boards looks like a giant bandaid. lol

To shoot the video I used SL Go on firestorm. It makes it possible for me to film with advanced lighting with fast frame rate. I even blazed around the track with no lagging. Sweet! The service is $10 a month. January is currently free for those would were subscribers in December, due a teleport bug on the official viewer. I really loving being able to shoot video now. The Big Ben Bats

STORYLINE: It started out as a joke. He was drunk and the music at The Batcave was horrible that night. He complained loudly. Okay, maybe he shouted and threw a beer bottle. And well, long story short, the guitarist of No Talent called him a tosser, so he bit him live on stage infront of a stunned crowd of black-clad concert goers. In that moment as he looked out at the crowd in a fuzzy daze, the lights shining in his eyes, something clicked in his head. "This," he thought, "Right here. Right now." He didn't know how to play guitar, but with the blood of his defeated enemy coursing in his veins, he didn't let it stop him. He wailed on the blood splattered guitar as if the devil himself had just taken the stage. He became a legend of sorts in the London Underground. Part of his schtick was biting people live on stage. "Mess with the Bat, and you get the fang!" That's how the music career started of the guitarist of infamous Big Ben Bats.

Two great events going on right now. Leaf on the Wind is a fund raiser for the 29 year old Scarlet Chandrayaan (owner of Alouette). Her cancer has returned and she expected to have only 2 more years. At the top of her bucket list is a dream to see London. Designers on the grid have rallied and created Leaf on the Wind to help her dream come true. This is a wonderful event with a mission and has many fun London items for sale. The sim itself is decorated with an England theme. It runs until the end of January. The Creators Collection Box is a brand new event featuring Japanese content creators. Don't miss this event, it's huge and the deals are sweet! There's something for everyone: girls, guys, decor and gadgets. Above is the fun guitar by Namine which plays like a real guitar! Touch notes on the hud, and you are playing live inworld! It has 2 playing styles, and a total of 66 notes. (I wasn't able to record the sounds it makes in the video, but you can demo the guitar at the event.) Also shown from CCB, is the table and chair by La petite fleur. The chair has 4 animations for the girls, and 4 for the guys. Touch the lamp to turn it on and off. The man holding the records is a gift at the La petite fleur mainstore. Shown below are two stools from the No Concept Creators Collection Box. They are part of a gacha for only 40L each!

I'm wearing an awesome new coat with shirt, vest, and tie by FATEwear. For the first time, FATEwear has included Fitted mesh along with the standard sizes. The fatpack comes with a hud to mix and match the different colors for the jacket, shirt, and tie. I added a slightly darker red tint to the tie, and darker grey to the void color jacket. I came close to using the KoKoLoReS Kazu hair for my yearbook picture but I'm glad I didn't now. It's perfect for an early goth Robert Smith type of style. The Goth Buttons are by papermoon. You can also buy Goth Patches and add to your coats and shirts for a touch of retro punk. The Cropped Sarrouel pants by Chronokit work perfect with the Forsaken boots. The plaid belt by :Sey I edited to make it thicker in a retro style. Because it's mod, it was no problem to tuck it within the coat, and overlaping the pants. The gloves are a gacha rare from last month's Men's Department. Yes, if you look close, that hand gesture is not a fist, it's something a bit more rude. lol

From the set, the EliBaily Recycled Planks Bed is from a past gacha at The Men's Department. The Cello Coffin Box is by Souzou Eien. I showed the cello in the past, but this time I am showing the awesome coffin box that comes with it! love it! The Big Ben prop is actually the box for the From Hell gacha by Never Totally Dead. And by favorite red rug by Senzafine is from a past World Goth Fair.

Lair of the Phantom

STORYLINE: He had been a promising music prodigy when tragedy struck. His mentor, the conductor of the Paris Opera, stole his composition, murdered him, and set their workroom on fire to hide his crimes. But the young Erik did not die. Flames covering his body, he dove for nearest body of water he could find, the sewers of Paris. His survival was a secret to the world above. His life, career, and face were stolen from him. Hearing his own music being performed by that traitor drove him mad. The thirst for revenge burned deeply in his soul. He bedeviled the production as often as he could. People began to believe the opera house was haunted. And then everything changed. The voice of an angel brought light to his gloom. Suddenly, his heart remembered its love for music. He lured her down to his domain. With his tutelage, she would bloom into the best soprano in the world. He would compose a masterpiece for her and to reclaim his name. His salvation was in grasp. 

When I was kid, I saw an old black and white movie Phantom of the Opera. I was captivated and have loved the Hades archetype ever since. So when I saw Death Row made a Phantom of the Opera set, I was ecstatic! It's an awesome skybox role play environment. There are 19 pieces to the set. Head over the OMG Gacha to play the gacha. The event runs from the 10th to the 31st.
