Japonica: Year of the Rat

STORYTELLING: A white rat named Itchy and his many siblings, were cold and hungry. There was nothing to eat. Winter could be brutal on tiny creatures. Lucky for them, they were clever rodent-kind! Suddenly, Itchy stood up tall, whiskers twitching. Music! He faced the direction of the wonderful melody. Oh, there was delicious food that way too! He flicked his skinny rat tail as if to say, "This way!," and raced over snow-covered branches and squeezed through tight spaces until the beautiful human home of warmth, music, and food opened before him and his brethren. They were so happy. The humans must have been happy to see them too, since the female screeched, and did a dance with her arms in the air, hopping left and right. Itchy snickered. Humans were strange. He darted across the matt, scurried up a small table, and lifted a ripe orange in his paws. He felt grateful to the humans, so before he left with his ill-gotten goods, he waved a paw back to the humans. It was his way of saying, Thanks.

Japonica: a Walk in the Snow

STORYLINE: When the snow was falling, it was so peaceful and quiet. Konpeki loved it and wanted to enjoy it even though it was unwise to walk alone on stairs and the icy paths in his ankle-breaking tall geta. But this was his art. If he could not make it look easy and elegant he would need to find a new job. He was a rare Male Geisha. Everywhere he went, people stopped and stared. Normally he loved the attention and charmed the crowds well, but on a quiet cold night like this, he loved his alone time with nature more.

About the kimono coat shown above, it comes in red, black, green, blue, and green checkers. (Note: there is another model of the kimono that has a card pattern instead of checkers). You can choose 2 patterns for the inside or red or black. The kimono itself is Animesh. You need an animesh enabled viewer to see it correctly. Gothical: A Light in the Darkness

STORYLINE: "Come into the light," a man's voice spoke softly to Little Bunny. Who was he? Why did she feel so terrible? The last thing she remembered was eating and drinking too much at the Princess Layla's Taste of October party. Her eyes flickered open, and she immediately regretted it. "No... it burns!" The man was holding her tenderly. She would have protested but she felt so weak. "Don't be afraid," he said. "I'm an Exorcist. I've dealt with the Princess. She won't harm you again, at least not until next October. She is banished for now. Sadly, I was not able to stop all her designs. Your life will be different now." Bunny shook her head, "What do mean. I don't understand." The man laid her down gently. "I'm sorry to deliver such sad news. You have been bitten by the Nosferatu. But I will help you, if you trust me."

There's a lot to do for Halloween in SL, just check the Destination Guide, but one you may not know about is the Hakoniwa sim event, by Yazoo Rang and Aslan, veteran creators of many past excellent adventures like Horror Night. The Barnstormer - Genesis Lab Summer 2017

STORYLINE: The horrors of the first World War finally came to an end. Life was returning to normal. But for a few daring fighter jocks, the fun was just beginning. In the heartlands of the USA, their biplanes roared past red barns, sending frightened cows fleeing. Above the gently swaying fields of corn, the retired Aces charged at each other in death defying ariel acrobatics. The crowd below Oooed and Ahhhed. They could put on one hell of show. Freedom never tasted so sweet.

The image above was created for the Genesis Summer 2017 contest. The idea for it was inspired by the contest's August color theme palette. It reminded me of midwestern red barns, blue skies, and golden fields..., which then lead me to the idea of a Barnstormer. The focus of the picture is the Ethan Bento 3.0 mesh head Rare from the last Arcade round. The head comes with an insane amount of perks: animations, single poses, ears, eye with multiple color options, bento rigged teeth and tongue and colored braces and tongue piercing with options different colors, eye makeups, bruises, scratches, tattoos, beauty marks, eye bags, camouflage, bloody nose, skin sheen setting, and for vampires there are even fangs, bloody lips, and bloody teeth. AWESOME! The skin appliers are separate drops in the gacha.  For my background I used the infamous SL Cornfield which is now a fun game you can play at Portal Park.

Fender Fangs: Gang War

STORYLINE: The sun was rising as Darren Darkfire kicked his beloved motorcycle, Infection, into its highest gear thanks to a few drops of his blood. As he raced down the highway sounding like an angry swarm of bees shot straight out of hell, he didn't notice the vampires hiding the shadows watching him. Darren was the youngest member ever admitted into the Fender Fang gang thanks to his experimental bio-mechanical motorcycle. Many believed his invention would give the Fender Fangs an edge in the next Immortal 500 race.  But we may never know.... Just as the sun's rays peeked above the horizon, he was ambushed by rival gang Nightrik, and taken prisoner.

ROMP returns to spice up the last fleeting days of summer.  Shown above from ROMP is the jock by Thirst fitted to Niramyth, Signature, and Bellazza male mesh bodies, and the hand pose triggering Gajug Kalla collar by AsteroidBox. From a past ROMP is the Mars Harness by Salt & Pepper. These items gave me the idea to try biker theme, and bring back the Fender Fang storyline. Adding to the theme is the Slasher leather jacket by Lapointe & Bastchild. It comes with several fits for mesh bodies, and a hud to change its textures and turn the t-shirt on or off. The Infection motorcycle is the rare from past TMD gacha by Sau. Besides looking icky, it even says super creepy things in local chat like "....help me..."  The gloves are an applier for Niramyth by 4Skin, and include several color options, and the claws Niramyth Bento hands are by Gorgeous Dolls. They work like charm and have lots of options for textures and individual nail colors. Darren is wearing the stunning rare gacha Bento male head from Genesis Labs. The head comes with a crazy amount of options like: eye makeups, tattoos, camouflage, bruises, scratches, blood, braces, tongue piercing, fangs, expression poses and animations. Skin textures are gachas separate from the head.

Fantasy Faire 2017: The Violinist of Venice

STORYLINE: Water lapped at the edges of the Piazza San Marco as the night sky softened to pinks and purples. A lone figure emerged from the shadows carrying a violin case and music stand. He was dressed in formal clothes from another time period. In any other city, he would have drawn stares however this was Venice. Wearing a mask was not considered odd either. As the man took off his cloak, and positioned his music stand, several locals quickly took up best sitting spots nearby. They knew to expect his exquisite concerts in the spring. And he did not disappoint. His music was so powerful, several women tried to discreetly wipe away their tears. Money began to fill his violin case. There were murmurs he was someone famous, but no one really knew. He didn't talk much, just nodded and said thank you, He always took his earnings to the nuns at St. Mark's Basilica and asked them to donate it for him to cancer research. The nuns knew to not ask questions, but surely his heartfelt music reflected a soul grieving the loss of someone dear.

STORYLINE: “You know too much to live," the rockstar's hand reached through the iron bars. His long fingers wrapped around his guide's throat. "Why risk confronting me this way? You could have accepted my offer and lived out the rest of your days a very wealthy man.” The old man’s heart thundered in his ears. His whole life he was in fear that one day he too would fall under the curse. "I needed to know," he whispered, hoping his voice sounded stronger than he felt, "The paintings in the castle...," It was getting harder for him to breath. "You are him, The Lion." The rockstar snarled and tightened his grip. "Wait!" the old man gasped. "Nanette, ...had a daughter." The rockstar's eyes flickered blue in confusion, his grip relaxed slightly. "The child was illegitimate. Your father gave the castle to Nanette, it was her child's birthright." The Lion stumbled backwards as if he had been punched. The old man caught his breath and continued, "I'm your great great grandson. And this," he whipped out his wallet and quickly flipped to a picture of a little boy who looked remarkably similar to The Lion. "Your family survives, just as this castle survives." The Lion snatched the picture and stared at it. A small tear of blood dropped down on it's glossy surface. "You are an exceptionally brave man, Monsieur Gustave." The Lion looked up once more at his host. This time wonder replaced malice in his eyes. His fingers traced the wrinkles on the old man's face that could easily have been his if he were mortal. Gustave breathed a little easier. Satisfied he was safe now, he unlocked the cell door. The Lion burst out, and pulled him into a tight embrace. "Thank you for telling me the truth."

Shown above is the wonderfully detailed new mesh AIR monocle,  Aria. It comes in either gold or silver. Both are mod, and come in right side or left side. Also, you can edit the hanging string for best position on poses. The Revolution Hat is from the Deadwool gacha. The cape is the Joffery gacha from Stitched. It works perfectly with the Regency outfit by Last Ride for a more early 1800s look. Right now their store is renovating but should be up soon. From Swagga is the also handy Leather Gloves that fit the The Mesh Project male body. Have you looked at just how beautiful this new skin, Tox, is for The Mesh Project head? I love the eyebrows and subtle shading on the nose and lips. But for this image, I used the bloody lips by Ghost'Ink. I hid the eyelashes on the TheMeshHead head and replaced them with the Gaeline mesh eyelashes. This allows me to have upper only lashes, and tint them a color other than default brown. I used the gradient texture so the tips are blond and roots brown/black. The Gaeline hud is very easy to use, so it not very hard to use the mesh lashes. This picture was taken at the beautiful new Paris Je T'aime sim. Don't miss it!

STORYLINE: "This castle holds many secrets." The old man pushed a wooden wall panel. It groaned, then gave way revealing a hidden passage. The smell of mold and earth wafted up. "Come," the old man turned on his flashlight, "there is something I want to show you." The rockstar silently followed behind. Each step down seemed to descend deeper into the past. "The tale begins 1795 during the Reign of Terror. The blood of aristocrats dripped from the guillotines onto streets of Paris. Misery was everywhere. The Castle of the Marquis d'Auvergne was no exception." The old man guided them into a dungeon room containing a small quaint theater. "Here is the true treasure of the Lion. It wasn't gold or jewels," he gently padded the crumbling painted wood props. The rockstar jumped up on the stage and kicked the bones of a long dead rat out of his way in disgust. "The Lion was youngest son of the Marquis. He had no prospects in life. His family was finically ruined. It was expected the indebted castle itself would soon also be lost. The Lion created this stage himself after a failed attempt to runaway and join an acting troop. By day he hunting game for a living, and down here by night he did his heart's desire. In fact, this tiny theater is how the Lion met my great great grandmother Nanette. Fascinating, isn't it?"

The Secret Affair event is going on now with a theme of winter. From the event is the Luxurious Cape by Stitched has these awesome long sleeves that can be worn or hidden for a sleevesless look with a hud. Also at Secret Affair is the Thor necklace set and Eindride wreath by Plastik. The Wreath comes in all seasons, and a hud to change textures. The Toy Maker

STORYLINE: Nicoli All-Seeing had a problem. One year had passed since the Goodwill Killer struck London. Those who helped the unfortunate had their life sucked away. Now there were not enough toys to give the orphans, and christmas was tomorrow. A feeling of hopeless begun to overtake Nicoli. None of his assurances that the Goodwill Killer had been caught seemed to matter. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. The strange young man named Elfie shook the ancient immortal's hand furiously as his eyes sparkled wildly with glee. He claimed he was Nicoli's biggest fan and asked for his autograph. Elfie produced a small wooden toy from his bag for him to sign. Nicoli turned it over and remarked how wonderfully the toy was made. Elfie grinned proudly and told him he was a toy maker; Nothing made him happier than to see a child smile.  Nicoli got an idea. "Elfie, I know this short notice, but can you help me make 25 toys for the St. Mary's in time for Christmas?" Elfie didn't give it a moment's thought. "Yes, of course! I have lots of toys! I would be delighted to help!"

A Child Who Cannot Die, 1

STORYLINE: Much has been written about the boy who never grew up, but few know the true genesis of the tale. Behind the sweeping adventures in Neverland, there was always the sound of a ticking clock. Tick tock. Tick tock. Tick tock.... Perhaps one needs to look no further than the archenemy of the boy, Captain James Hook, for an insight on what was really going on. Hook was forever trying to kill Peter. But isn't it odd the fearless pirate grew weak at the sight of blood?

Enchantment is going on strong with many wonderful creations, live performances, and of course the popular hunt. This round's theme is Peter Pan. Each round I enjoy making my own twist to the fairy tale. This time I found an interesting detail about story's creation, I hope you enjoy it. ... Shown above is the Pan Pants by Pucca Firecaster. They come in male and female, two leg lengths (one long and one for boots), and also include a hud for texture change. The pants are mod, so you can tint them too. The wonderful Admiral hat is by Remarkable Oblivion. You can get red, blue, brown, or black. The hats come with a resize script. The Skull and Crossbones eyepatch is from the gacha by Astralia. By AiShA is Corsair Hook Hand. There were several other hook styles, this one worked great for me under the coat and it's rigged. In the background is the Neverland Clock by 22769 ~ [bauwerk]. The clock keeps time and makes noises too. Finishing out my outfit is the jacket, sash, tattoo, and necklaces by BareRose's Pirate Emperor. The boots from The Raider outfit by Quality Designs. They are sculpted prim that attach to the upper leg and foot. The traditional Captain Hook has a black ringlet wig but I would much rather rock a Jack Sparrow style so I used the No Smoke dreadlocks by No.Match. They come in both male and female fit. The goatee is by Scared, and the sword with texture change hud is by Kalopsia. The Season 5 ears by Mandala are awesome! I picked them up during the 12 Days of Savings going on right now in the marketplace. Just type "12 Days of Christmas" in the search and you can see all the deals. The Tox skin by Tableau Vivant you can buy as a system skin, shown above, or face applier for the TMP head. For body appliers for SLinka nd TMP, you can get those at the mainstore. Fantasy Faire: Fishhook the Brave

STORYLINE: A great gathering of all Merkind was called. The Unweaver's villainy must not be allowed to continue! The Unweaver was vulnerable to water, but how could he be lured to their domain? Many ideas were offered, but no workable plan was found until the eccentric Fishook raised his hand. He was a Mer with a love for human fishing inventions. Some thought he was twisted. (Why would he love a thing that struck terror in hearts of most Merkind?) But his hobby lead Fishook to perfect the art of leaping out of the water. He loved crashing on boats to steal the lures of stunned fishermen. He was fearless. So naturally, his plan was accepted. The Sirens sung a beautiful song no mortal could resist. Slowly a mist crept into Odyssey. Fishhook knew it had to be the Unweaver! At just the right moment, he gathered all his strength and leapt high above the water. He caught the Unweaver by surprise, snared him, and they crashed below the waves. The Elders quickly sealed the Unweaver in a magical pearl where he could no longer make mischief. The Fairelands were saved thanks to Fishhook the Brave!

Fantasy Faire: The Dark Magican

STORYLINE: The Unweaver once more brought strife to the Fairelands. The Bard Queen sent many  brave souls to seek the Champions and find the Lost Land where her daughter was held prisoner. However for the Dark Magician she had an urgent top secret mission: Find the Unweaver and bring him to justice!

FANTASY FAIRE 2015! I love this event, it's just pure magic. Fantasy Faire is one of the biggest events of the year. It celebrates the genre while doing a massive fund drive for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. There are 13 beautifully designed sims each with their own theme. There are over 150 designers with fantastic products to fuel your imagination. Each day there are various Role Plays going on throughout the sims, including jailing troublemakers (to release them, they must raise enough funds to make bail). There is a giant art sim with 4 galleries of work from some of the best Fantasy Photographers in SL. You can party with the Fantasty Faire DJs, or attend a story reading. And one of the coolest things you can do during the event is the Fantasy Faire: The Lost Lands Hunt. (more about that below)

From Fantasy Faire, I am wearing one of the Relay for Life donations by Wasabi Pills, Jaden. It also includes 2 other colors. The Cured necklace by Other Skin comes in either male or female. The Guardians Cloak you can pick up at the Poppetsborough landing. Touch the cloak to change the outer color. It comes with fits for male and female, and 2 child sizes. The Nireus Wings by Material Squirrel are really cool. You can change the textures in the hud, adjust the size, angle, and make them auto close and flapp. The Germlin Fae is a particle special effect that will fly around you in a random pattern, it's pretty fun. The FF symbol is actually the box the Hunt Hud came in. It has a nice magic effect and triggers a pose when you hold it. To begin your quest on the Lost Lands Hunt, head to the Fairelands Junction. There are portals there that connect to each sim in the Faire. I hope you like swimming with the fishes, because this year's junction is underwater! Here you can find the Low Lag Skins gifts by The Plastik in light and dark for male and female. The Hunt Huds you can also find here. There are two versions: the basic is 250L, and the 350L deluxe includes an outfit by BareRose for girls and guys. This year's hunt hud uses video so make sure you enable media in your viewer. The story is written by Saffia Widdershins of Prim Perfect and Designing Worlds. The champions are a richly varied bunch, each with their own backstory. (Believe it or not, yours truly played the character of Bisclavret!) I encourage you to check out the Book of Champions and enjoy all these fun mini stories within the main story arc. The Collection of Madame Mon Dieu

STORYLINE: Ah,... RockStar on a high after kicking ass hard in an arena of screaming fans. Could there be any man riding more high on extreme levels of testosterone? Perhaps, but Madame Mon Dieu preferred the sexy musician over danger seekers. There was no better challenge for her particular talents. It gave her a special thrill to seduce them as an adoring fan, luring them into her lair. Little did they know, they had met their match. Madame Mon Dieu would leave them crying like babies and begging for more.

ROMP time! Be sure to get the goodies today before midnight. For this post inspired by several items, I had an idea of Rock Star vs Dominatrix. Fulli is helping me out. While we both felt out of our element in this pose for ROMP by Rack Poses, I think we pulled it off leaving some to the reader's imagination. ...Lots going on here. Let me start with the Skull Boots by Swagga. You can pick three color versions on sale at a discount at We <3 Role Play. The pants were a gift by Tameless from Apply Your Body Hunt back in March. The Drape top by Tableau Vivant looks great with The Mesh Project body on sale at the Xiasumi School Festival. For a change I am wearing a darker sunny skintone, Tone #7 by Tableau Vivant. The face applier is the new Yukio head by TV on sale at The Men's Department. This badass guitar is a raffle gift at BareRose. The TV Bohemien Male hair is on sale at Shiny Shabby. This style works great under hats! The ass kicking Tank helmet is by Couture Rock. ... Full is wearing the Winter Fleur Cuff by Forever Famous on the ROMP sale. The corset is Fifis Boudoir by Junbug. (Junbug's main store is under construction right now and this outfit is not currently out for sale.) The boots are by BAX.

In the setting are two objects that were a part of the Rock Attitude Fair by Unkindess: the Roadie Bench in black with several poses, and the Bad Axe guitar wall art. Both have different color options. From last month's ROMP Fresh round is the sleek Decadence furniture bench, and Black Leather Bed by 22769 ~ [bauwerk]. You can get both sets in PG or Adult at the mainstore. It's wonderfully made and low land impact. The new ROMP round The Little Black Dress(er) by Fetch matches it perfectly! It gives a little more female touch to the Decadence set's look. Another item that is a must have, is the wonderful Industrial Cages by Souzou Eien.  They look simple, but once you add them to your setting, you see just how awesome they are. Both cages include a single pose that fits an avatar perfectly inside. I love the long chain. The cages worked great hanging from the EliBaily Stratford Industrial Loft which was for sale last round of the TMD. (Note: The skybox does not appear to available for sale right now.)
