Fantasy Faire 2025: Izumo

STORYLINE: High in the misty mountains of Japan, there was an enchanted city time forgot. Rabbits could talk, guardian foo dogs turned their stone heads as you passed, and a neko named Soramaru soared through the clouds with the help of his magical umbrella. His only companion was his mischievous flying cat, Mikeneko.

Long ago, Soramaru had discovered the perfect way to make sure Mikeneko followed him: he tied a tiny bell to the end of a long ribbon connected to his wrist. The bell jingled, the ribbon danced, and the cat simply couldn't resist. The two were inseparable.

But it was not all game and games in the clouds. One afternoon, their cupboards were bare.

Soramaru sighed, “We’ll just have to get creative, Mikeneko. Why don’t we try fishing in the forbidden pool? They say it’s dangerous. No one dares to fish there. But that just means the fish will be huge and fat!”

Mikeneko’s eyes shimmered, and his fluffy tail swayed with excitement.

Soramaru peeked over the edge of the cliffside walkway to the sparkling blue waters far below. He licked his lips, snapped open his umbrella, and leapt over the ledge, drifting gently down through the mists. Behind him the tiny bell jingled softly in the wind.

Mikeneko hesitated at first, but the waving ribbon and its shiny bell soon had him chasing after it like a kitten for a toy.

Once below, Soramaru crouched by the water’s edge, hands hovering just above the surface, waiting for a fish to come too close.

But then, the water began to boil.

He slipped on the rocks and fell backward as a gigantic dragon rose from the pool! Then another, and another until there were eight heads snarling above him. The nearest one snapped its long sharp teeth at him.

Soramaru yelped and flung open his umbrella. With a rush of wind, he was quickly swept up like a dandelion seed with Little Mikeneko trailing close behind.

Back in the hidden city, safe among the pines and temple eaves, Soramaru sighed again.
They were still hungry.

He thought and thought, and then he had an idea!

“I’ll fish from above,” he laughed. “With a really, really long string! And I’ll ask nicely first this time, maybe offer a rice ball for the dragons too. Sounds good?”

Mikeneko listened carefully, then nodded his fluffy head.

Yes. That was a much better idea indeed.

The final days are upon us at Fantasy Faire 2025. So much to see and do, the time flies by so quickly. Today's post takes place at the Izumo sim by Gabriel. It's beautifuly crafted like an ancient hidden Japanese city, but also had a magical pool and oceanside ritual. (see pictures below). There is a sim hunt to find all the White Rabbits. He's tricky to find!

My image and story were inspired by items available at the Faire.  ...From Onedays, is the elegant Xia Lian kimono. It comes in several color styles, (I loved the PBR textures for the black ones, but white worked better for this image).  ...My adorable animesh companion is the Norwegian Forest Cat Calico by CKit Falconry. It has am amusing variety of animations, and you buy fun bonus items too. I look forward to see more for the cat!   ...The Rain Umbrella by Naminoke is Purrrfect for the feline kind. The little purple fish on it are animated and swim all around the umbrella. It also has a cool rain sound effect.   ...Also by Naminoke is the Abysinian Chesha mask. It's unrigged, so you can resize and add it anywhere.   ...The cute lore for the cat is the Shizuka RB cuffs that come with several wind blown poses. It's just cool. Aengima: Dreadful Depths: Reach of the Octopus

STORYLINE: Hidden in the dark, a dangerous stealthy predator waited, his many tentacles coiled ready to snatch his prey out of the open ocean. He was about to take down a Great White Shark that dared to stray into his territory when suddenly a school of tiny female Dumbo Octopus surrounded him. He waved his arms to shoo them away, but the girls seemed to be quite smitten with him, latching on him with their tiny cute little arms. But one of them was too nervous and accidentally inked. She was so embarrassed she hid in his coils.

Night of the Tentacle! This post was inspired by the animesh Tentacle prosthetics by Clover at the Mainframe event, and the many goodies at Aengima: Dreadful Depths. The tentacle themed tattoo is by Lilthe. The bubbles and adorable Dumbo Octopus is by Naminoke. From Gorsimi is the face makeup and tentacle necklace. Japonica: a Walk in the Snow

STORYLINE: When the snow was falling, it was so peaceful and quiet. Konpeki loved it and wanted to enjoy it even though it was unwise to walk alone on stairs and the icy paths in his ankle-breaking tall geta. But this was his art. If he could not make it look easy and elegant he would need to find a new job. He was a rare Male Geisha. Everywhere he went, people stopped and stared. Normally he loved the attention and charmed the crowds well, but on a quiet cold night like this, he loved his alone time with nature more.

About the kimono coat shown above, it comes in red, black, green, blue, and green checkers. (Note: there is another model of the kimono that has a card pattern instead of checkers). The Fall of Prince Ravenna, 3

STORYLINE: A young woman heavy with child took a hesitant step off the Junk boat that brought her to the strange lands in the West. The dragon, who's name means Mirror, floated around her nudged her gently, "Just a few more steps, my Queen, and I promise your child will be born safely here." She looked down at the dark waters lapping softly at the boat. The ruin of her face looked back at her. Everyone else saw a beauty with skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood, and hair as black as ebony, but all she saw was the nightmare of a woman burned alive. Her pain was unbearable. Every slight movement was an explosion of pain. She knew her death was near. Only the determination to bring her child safely into the world kept her alive. She would not let the Shogun, who had murdered her for refusing his advances, take the life of her child too! Her husband was murdered before her, and as clumps of burned flesh fell from her body, she wailed, "Kagami, Kagami. Please save my baby."

Sword of the Kōmori Daiyoukai

STORYLINE: The Nightfang was a powerful sword. He could feel the energy pulsing in it. But like so many things in life, his father's favorite weapon didn't come with an instruction manual. Years would pass as he experimented with the it, trying to tease out its secrets. Then one day while strolling through a battlefield littered with the fallen, a butterfly landed on the sharp edge of the blade unharmed. Then more butterflies came to rest on it as if it was perfectly natural for butterflies to suddenly be smitten with a deadly metal. Thats when he realized those were no ordinary butterflies, they were the Jigokuchō, or the hell butterflies that come to collect the souls of the dead. Surely this was a major clue to Nightfang's ultimate attack.

I used a combination of the Enji and Shiro for this outfit, paired with the Enji Geta. Hey, it wouldn't be me if I didn't make a twist to this look; Hot Pink Latex Tabi? Obi on the Shoulder? Have you lost your mind, Dev? Maybe. lol I love how this turned out.  The AIR butterfly gacha is fun, when you walk an exact duplicate of your butterfly will rez around you in a particle effect. Pretty cool. In the set, the screens by katat0nik are mod, so they can all be tinted whatever color you like. The hanging lanterns are by Who What and include animating goldfish inside. .... Speaking of awesome, and japan... the Kagami event has opened. I look forward to seeing you all dressed up for another adventure game this year. See you there!

The Real Prince Charming

STORYLINE: Perhaps you have heard the story of Cinderella. But what you haven't heard is the real tale. There are no such thing as magic and fairy godmothers. No, this story has its own special magic, albeit a very human one. You see it all began when the castle Chimney Sweep was dismissed for the evening, since he was not needed during the grand ball. As he was walking home, he heard the heart aching sobs of the only young girl in town not at the ball....

STORYLINE: Kiara's heart beat wildly. Sweat threatened to spoil her meticulously painted geisha makeup. Make no mistake, she was no fancy timid flower. She had been battleworn Enforcer of the Dark penal colony, Cursed, before its destruction. It's just she had never met a living god before. Her trembling hands gripped the priceless blood-gold sword of the Nippon Nosferatu. The sword was worth far more than her life. She preyed silently she would survive standing in *his* presence. Hell, she was grateful he even agreed to meet with her. Afterall, his rage was no secret. Until recently, he had been the God King of the vampires since the age of the pyramids. ...Yeah, he was that scary. Throughout his long life, he was known by many names. In Japan, he was Red Star.

Dream of the Little Kuro Oni

STORYLINE: A kite sailing high above the summer festival hid a tiny passenger. The Kuro Oni was small, but ambitious. He practiced everyday throwing shuriken and training. As he spied on the villagers below, he saw two clever kistunes trying to pass themselves off as humans. They were holding a contest to find the strongest man of the village. They were promising the winner a fabulous prize. He wondered what mischief they were up to, but with them having strong magic, he couldn't help but daydream the kitsunes might make his dream come true. He wanted more than anything in the world to become a celebrated Ninja like his big brother.

The Little Mochi Vendor

STORYLINE: The little white fox stared at what seemed to him to be a very steep stone step. He hopped up then he turned around to pull his tiny vendor cart behind him. He repeated this process until he finally reached the summer festival grounds. It wasn't easy being small, but for his struggle he was richly rewarded in hugs and sales from girls in their pretty kimonos. He sighed. At moments like this, he questioned his choice of profession. Life would be easier to remain a little fox, but duty called.

Shown above is the adorable W-Zero Animal Fairy gacha avatar, white fox. He is wearing the W-Zero Hakama for the animal fairy. His cart of yummy daifuku treats is by Frangipani. Touch the cart, and you get a wearable treat. The set also includes a little straw hat with earsm flower, or smooth top. However, for a more manly style, I switched to the Argrace straw hat. Too keep the little fox cool is a hand fan from the Naminoke gacha. The fan comes with several animations you can activate by touching the fan.

The Forgotten Kohaku River

STORYLINE: For hours he would stand perfectly still in a random body of water. Was this his home? He was a water spirit, yes, but no matter how hard he tried, he could not remember if this was his lake, his pond, or his river. No place was familiar. Had his home been destroyed? He didn't know. As long as his name was lost to him, so too were his memories.

The Fantasy Gacha Carnival is back! Head over to the official website and flickr group for images of all the wonderful goodies you can win. Inspiring this post is the amazing Cureless Dragon ultrarare. It comes with a hud to change the colors of the body, whiskers, horns, eyes, teeth, and tongue to either white, black, red or green. It's an attachment you can scale for a good fit.  From AIR is the gorgeous weeping Shidare Sakura tree. The detail of each flower is lovely. It's perfect for gardens or even scaled down as bonsai. It comes in white, pink, blue, or black petals. It includes a hanging tassel for the tree that can change to red, plink, blue, white, yellow, or black and gold or silver metal. There are 4 bonus twig sprigs, and 3 hanging flowers.  Also used by AIR is the hanging mouth tassel gacha, Rin.  Matching up nicely with the tree is the wearable sakura petal storm by Naminoke. It spirals around the body in a magical way and lines up nice with the Dragon familiar too.  For fans of Miyazaki's Spirited Away, you might have spotted this is my take on Haku. For his bob hairstyle, I used the Freya hair from Wasabi Pills, and for his outfit I used the Suikan by BareRose. I edited the top to remove the undershirt and sleeves.  Shown below the May Soul's Blindfold from the Akira gacha at the Fantasy Gacha Carnival. Its non-rigged so you can adjust the fit. News Event: Halloween at RMK Gothic

Nobody throws a party like the talented folks at RMK Gothic. This is a "Must Do." It's not only just a Hunt for awesome prizes, its a Major Event with a lot of fun and games! You'll love it. Grab your partner and buddies and head over to RMK Gothic. You'll have a great time!

You begin your journey in the garden. Touch the storybook at the landing point for the HUD to start a quest to get back something very important to you that was stolen by a naughty spirit. Find the StoryTeller ghosts throughout the sim. Each ghost will send you on a quest. Some are easy, some take practice to get right (like skydiving), and some will have searching all over the sim tiny ghosts or pumpkins. There are 20 quests in all, each one is different. Once you complete a mission, you get a piece of what was stolen from you. 17 prizes are randomly dropped with gifts for girls and guys. And by the last quest, you will have earned a cool skeleton avatar! Dev highly recommends this event with two thumbs up.

BONUS: Devi's hunt tips:
1) Convert your avatar to the provided ghost one. You will be able to hunt much faster and combat sim lag since this is a hugely popular event and many people are there.
2) Take a friend, or make friends. Some challenges require two people to complete.
3) A wearable translator Hud will help you talk to non-English speaking people at the event.
4) If the sim is full, try coming in a less busy time such as 3pm SL.
5) If you run into trouble because of lag, go ahead and complete all quests. Use the white "POST" box next to the storyteller book at the landing. Be sure to keep your Hud! Event organizers will help you. Also the full skeleton is available on last quest.
