STORYLINE: The younger brother of the Marquess of Waterford, Lord Berksford, was throughly obsessed with automatons. He studied the masters and tinkered endlessly in his workshop. The result of all his work? In true scandalous fashion, (his big brother would be proud), he debuted The Robotic Burlesque to much fanfair. The show was the talk of the town. Berksford tolled not for fame, but for his own amusement. Sure his brother every now and then came with special requests, but it seemed innocent to him and he liked the challenge as much as the revenue. I mean what Gent wouldn't want giant spider legs to leap over tall buildings, right? When the police busted down his door and arrested Berksford for the Spring Heeled Jack Murders, ... he was completely surprised.
The Engine Room is ending soon. Here's a last look at some wonderful creations there. This image was inspired by Burlesques, Steampunk Mechanics, and the beautiful What's Lost Spirit doll.

STORYLINE: Officer Dobson waited silently on his perch above New London. Sweat matted his hair. It was another humid night. No doubt many naive young women had their windows open in hopes of catching a breeze. They knew nothing of the monster that plucked his eyes out. He turned his head towards the clack of a horse and buggy on cobblestones. The clocktower rang, once, twice, three times. The hair stood up on the back of his neck. There! On the street below. The sound he knew only too well. First came the click of those demonic metallic boots, the clicking of gears, followed by a mighty swoosh. He tightened his grip on the sword. The click of boots on the rooftop moved towards him. "Not one more woman, Spring Heeled Jack. Justice has come for you."
It's Engine Room time! From March 20 - April 20th, get your fill of all the wonderful and clever creations on the Spring round of the Engine Room. This image was inspired by the Myst hair from RavenBell, the P.0.E, and the Greek goddess Themis. (and if you caught a reference to the Bed Intruder song, you weren't mistaken!)

STORYLINE: "They are waiting to take us into the severed garden. Do you know how pale and wanton thrillful comes death on a strange hour? Unannounced, unplanned for like a scaring over-friendly guest you’ve brought to bed. Death makes angels of us all and gives us wings where we had shoulders smooth as raven’s claws. No more money, no more fancy dress, this other kingdom seems by far the best. Until it’s other jaw reveals incest and loose obedience to a vegetable law. I will not go." - The Severed Garden, Jim Morrison
The Fantasy Faire was a huge success this year, lots of fun was had by all and $73,572 USD was raised for Relay for Life. Congrats to 700+ Faire staff and designers who helped make this happen, and to all the Faireland visitors who enjoyed and donated. Well done!
Several elements from both the Engine Room and Fantasy Faire inspired this post. From the Engine Room is the Lux Hair from Raven Bell. It comes in multiple fits for men and women. The from and the back are separate, so you can combine hairs or color then separately. Included is a unrigged bow with its own texture hud. Matching up nicely with the hair is the Auxentios Pass version of the Atreus coat by Contraption, which was a Relay for Life item at the Fantasy Faire. The textures for it a wonderful, you can pick out what colors you want for different fabrics from the texture hud. From the Fantasy Faire is this wonderful garden by The Looking Glass. Below I have moving clip of one section of the garden and a view of the braid in the Lux Hair.

The Home and Garden Expo this year has must-see attractions such as a preview of the NEW mesh Linden Homes for premium members, and the rideable animesh Teegle Horse, as well as excellent hunt goodies including a car in the Expo Hunt, speakers and workshops, not to mention purchasable homes, decor and garden items to support the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. ...And then there is what has kept me busy the past week....
It's even bigger and better this year! 16 winners drawn in a lottery compete to decorate 1 of 16 different style homes. There's a 500 prim limit and 1 week to decorate. Once the decorating period ends, the houses are voted on by visitors by paying the Kiosk in front of each house. All money goes to a good cause.
This year, I took the feedback I received from last year's competition, and applied it to this year. I paid extra attention to the garden, land impact, lived-in decor, and staying on theme with the style of the home. It's an intense challenge. Each time I try it, my decorating skills improve. Hey, ...Why not try it yourself next year?
My idea for "House 11- Stone Cottage" is French Country & Artist.

Storyline of house: Louis couldn't believe it. He had been a lowly art student in America, but after taking a DNA test and working on his family tree, the most unlikely thing happened.... Long story short, he inherited the family's ancestral home in France. It was fully furnished too. But there was one catch to his ownership, -- he was the estate's new caretaker. If he failed to properly maintain the cottage, someone else would get the job. Sounds like a dream come true, right? Well, he learned quickly its neither easy nor cheap to maintain such an old building. So many things required urgent repair. He needed to find a way to make money quickly. At first he tried offering tours of the home, then he tried opening the house for weddings. Then one day while working in his secret artist's studio in the attic, inspiration struck. His pet cat Gigi made the most curious pose. It reminded him of a famous painting. He quickly started a remake of this masterpiece, but with a cat instead of a person. His whimsical Cat Paintings were a hit with tourists. They were selling in Paris, and he had the waiting list of patron to paint each of their cats in their own famous painting. He was never hurting for money again. The family was so impressed, they decided his most famous painting would become a permanent part of the family estate. It would become the duty of the next generation to protect his painting, his legacy, along with the rest of the family estate.
TIP: Sometimes you may need to be creative over a home issue. For instance, the neighboring house has a very different style. To keep the mood and theme of my home visually intact, I used a simple one prim wall with an excellent medieval brick texture on the sides of my home. ...Another creative solution I used was use a teleport system to access areas not reachable by walking. TIPS: Link objects to save prims. Do it to ONLY to non-scultped, no script, or items that contain no poses and animations. And do NOT try this with your non-copy Gacha wins. You could explode the prim count on the item and be unable to fix it.

STORYLINE: He did not remember how he came into being. There were faint memories of walking on four legs, being trained for war, and fighting many battles. His instinct to protect his home was powerful and made him especially vicious. When his master and village were slaughtered, he raged. Homeless, he turned to eating the dead on the bloodsoaked battlefield, including that of his slain master. With so many tortured souls in his belly lusting for revenge, the dog, the human, and the spirits ignited. He was a dog demon then. He disguised his massive size by assuming his former master's human form. His destruction of the enemy village was absolute. Eventually he would give birth to a powerful Inuyoukai dynasty that would go on to dominate his beloved Western Lands for over a thousand of years.
Japan Fair! Youkai! Gifts! Settings! Dragon pet! Wind in hair! I'm so happy I'm stumbling over my feet here. Okay, let me get started with the largest topic first and work my way down. Japan Fair is a beautifully made sim packed with many of the best Japanese designers in SL. Items for sale include event exclusives, and it's all for a good cause, raising money for the ShelterBox. Shelter Box makes a kit of live-saving necessities and send these kits to people in need after a disaster. The Japanese designers are so grateful and impressed by the Shelter Box during their country's time of need, (the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami of 2011), that they want to give back and help raise funds for the Shelter Box. The event has many gifts through out the sim, and also has the Unofficial Hunt. The list of gifts I found at the event are listed below. On the opening weekend, there was a live Fashion show in a beautiful Noh style theater. You can watch a recording of the live Kimono show here: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/secondlifetv Check the event schedule for more runway shows. I had a fantastic time there this weekend, drooling over all the pretty shiny things, and also running into many of SL's finest. Good times! Japan Fair runs through April 20th.
The theme of this image was inspired by Lovely Disarray's "Apple of my Eye" hunt prize, the Destruction of Life : Makeup. The character of Sesshoumaru is what kick-started my love for bishounen style. For this post I wondered about the origins of the Inuyoukai and came up with a possible explanation. I hope you guys like my idea. Okay. I am wearing the BareRose exclusive Sanada ShiGusoku and the materials on it really look aweosme on the armor parts! The hair by Argrace is also donation item at Japan Fair. The sword in hand by Ade Yakko is a hunt prize and comes with a hud to change the colors. On my shoulder is a cool little green dragon that either animates or stays still from Death Row. you can find it at the Secret Affair Game of Thrones inspired event. (many great things there too!) The Gallard fur cape is from a gacha by Stitched. Kitsume eyes by Aii. Ears by Illusions. Hands by Slink. Skin by Tableau Vivant. The pose is a donation item from Japan fair by J'adore.
But I am not just showing the outfit, I have some great things in the scenery too! The mesh Stone Wall building kit by Fuubutsu Dou is on sale at We <3 Role Play at 25% and I love it! This image is taken at my home. I swapped out my old prim wall with these beautiful mesh stone ones, and it has materials too! All the cherry trees in the image are a subscription gift by Isovii. The mesh torii is by Botanical. The little shrine was a hunt gift last month but you can find the shrine alone for 1L at Hanaya. Hanaya makes great group gifts. Recently her group was free to join on the 4,5,6. If you missed it, maybe she do it again. Keep an eye out for it. The stone lantern was a gift from The Looking Glass. Now run go get yourself some shiny! Japan Fair 2014

Our next trip on the Dolls of Christmas tour takes us up north to the home of my friends in Sweden.
On the darkest day of winter, December the 13th, the people of Sweden hold flickering candles and give thanks for the sunlight with Saint Lucia showing the way with song, warm coffee, and sweet lussekatt buns. Lucia (or Lucy) means "light." She wears a long white dress with red sash and headdress of lingonberry branches and candles.

Let's face it, at some point in your SecondLife you are going to need a nice suit. I can think of no other place that excels in stylish formal wear than RMK Gothic. The RMK Gothic sim has many stores that specialize in EGA (Elegant Gothic Aristocrat) and EGL (Elegant Gothic Lolita)fashion styles that hail from Japan. Right now you can pick up a smartly dressed late-Victorian schoolboy outfit as a gift during the Bridal Fair event. The gardens are sprinkled with many couple poses, and the chapel is open to the public for weddings. 19 Stores participating in the event are:
