Engine Room : The Celestial Mafia, part 3

STORYLINE: Snow was piled high in the abandoned streets of New London. The hairs stood up on the back of J's neck. "It's quiet. Too quiet. No obvious signs of violence...." He turned to his mechanical helper, "Guryong, ...can you detect any environmental hazards?" Steam poured from the nostrils of the mechanical dragon as it surveyed their surroundings, and a metallic voice replied, "Master Jang, I detect none. However there is a woman close by." Suddenly, they heard a woman scream, "EEEEK!"

Part 3 of the going comic series for the current round of the Engine Room. This weekend was the Halfway point and new items have been added to the event. Go check it out, and don't forget to get the many gifts too!  

The image above was inspired by the Asian themed elements at the event, and actually gave me the idea to do a manga like series. The large mechanical Dragon by Eliavah is animesh you can wear. It has color to change its textures and glow, and sets of static poses and animations. There is also a version you can ride! (Who's a good boy?) The outfit Oscar by Ash Store is another Must Have. Its gorgeous! I especially like the latex options. lol The Steamer Katana is by the Forge. Its a mod static prop so you can add your scripts and animations to it if you want. The Eight hair is by Zao. With luck, the next part in this series will have Aarya Phantomhive as our woman-in-distress. She's been helping me on this series. Thanks Aarya!

Engine Room : The Celestial Mafia, part 2

STORYLINE: J had a baffling nature. Both beautiful and deadly. "You must be desperate to call me," J sneered. "So who do I end?" ...."No," K replied in a grave tone, "You misunderstand my intentions. People are disappearing from New London. It was just a few at first, nothing to worry about. But the missing are now increasing at an alarming rate. None of the other crewheads came back. Go investigate, and stop it immediately. Use any means necessary." 

How are you guys liking the manga/comic format so far?  From current round of the Engine Room is the the sleek shiny Domentor jacket, vest and top by Jey's. The wings by Petrichor are animated and come in several sizes, and even a nonrigged version. The claw gloves are by Wicca Originals, and since they are mod, I hid the upper part under the jacket. This cool anime style hairstyle is by Zao is called Two Hair. The setting has elements and stars from the Bibliotheca Noctis skybox by the Spires Society.  I have to make an embarrassing confession here, I didn't realize the skybox hadn't fully rezzed out when the pictures were taken. Once I realized my error, I did a reshoot but I liked the original better, so I just went with it!

Engine Room : The Celestial Mafia, part 1

STORYLINE: Hovering high above the soot choked city was the Celestial Mafia’s headquarters. 

Nothing happened in New London without Mob Boss K’s permission. K was ruthless, so it came as no surprise when his power was threatened, he immediately summoned his best Crew head.... "Thank you for coming quickly J, I have an urgent mission for you."

The ENGINE ROOM is back, and this round is truly amazing! For my posts this round I'm going to try to show as many things I as can, and challenge myself to do it in a comic book/manga-like style. It's been difficult, so I had to scale back my ambition some to not take too long. lol  I hope you enjoy it, and please let me know if you like it. Engine Room: Rusty Tears of the War Machine

STORYLINE: The General of New Deco was haunted. No amount of awards, medals, or ribbons could chase away his waking nightmare. The war was still raging with no end in sight. Everywhere he looked, ghosts of soldiers with no voices and eyes stared back at him. Why were they haunting him? He had reached the limit of what the body and mind could endure. He just couldn't, ... kill anymore. Of course his superiors were disappointed, after all he was a brilliant tactician and beloved by his men too, so they offered him an early exit if he would just sign a simple contract. Unfortunately for him, having too much time to think did result in one more death, -- his. So it came as a shock when he awoke inside a monstrous thing of metal and gears. His will was no longer his, since he had inadvertently signed it away. He was programed to obey. There was no such thing as mercy for a War Machine. The tears of rust on his automaton face were the only clues to the screaming, blind ghost locked inside.

How awesome is the Art Deco theme items at this around of Engine Room? I felt very inspired, and this idea grew out of it. Here are items I used in the image from the event: The Metropolis tattoo really fired my imagination, I paired it with the older Rust skin are from Fallen Gods and between the layers added a white tint by XyR. The outfit is the beautifully made Fotsoldier Gambsion by Turb. It has a hud to change textures. It's also mod, so I could hide the sleeves to show the arms. The right arm is Eliavah's Manticore Arm with hud to change its textures. Its made for the girl avatars, but Female Legacy was a close fit with only a small poke on the backside of the upper arm. The Left arm is Wicca's Barclay that has male fits, and a texture hud. For fun, I added the Frankie Bolts by Haunt that include a bloody neck tattoo layer. It's an Engine Room Gift. The General is smoking the Selenes Vape by Aerth. It has many texture options too.

STORYLINE: The roads were deserted all across the Clockwork Kingdom. The tension was thick in the air as darkness fell. Children strained on their tiptoes at the windows. Where were the racers? Did they crash? Did the new vehicles invented by the Cogworks fail? Who was winning? Suddenly, a distant cheer swelled up in the night air. And then the children heard it, — a thundering roar growing louder and louder. The kids squealed and ran to the rooftop. “Momma Momma,” they jumped up and down and pointed. “It’s the White Wabbit!”

Engine Room: The Great Race of the Clockwork Kingdom, 1

STORYLINE: The Queen of Clockwork Kingdom needed a quick delivery of an important package to the White Kingdom. When it finally arrived, her gift was broken and a month late. She was enraged. Up and down the throne room she paced, frustrated by the incompetence of her mechanical servants. The cogs of the giant clock ground loudly against each other as she mulled a solution. Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Then suddenly, an idea struck her. "None is more speedy than the White Rabbit. He understands the value of time. Summon him at once!" she commanded. 

The Engine Room is back and larger than ever! With 100 designers and items inspired by Historical Fantasy . Or as I would say, the Future-That-Never-Was. That's right, all kinds of Punk styles are present, not just Steampunk, but Dieselpunk, Cyberpunk, Aetherpunk, Raypunk, and more.... Its a future as imagined from the past. And you find all the coolness at the Engine Room!

This post, and the Great Race series, was inspired by many awesome items at the current round of the Engine Room.  Shown above is the toksik Debonair Coat which comes many colors, and fits for men and women. The pocketwatches by torment gave me the idea to bring back to the blog the White Rabbit. The clocks have spinning clock hands too! The heart on the cheek is a gift by torment at the event. The Fonete Pince Nez glasses are by Celeste. I added the key from torment to the end. And finishing off this elegant look, is the gorgeous throneroom skybox, Lament of Innocence, by Spires Society. The window has animated clouds and magical sparkles. The orb lights on the ceiling are also animated. It makes my heart happy to do an image like this, it reminds me of past springs in SecondLife when I spent a lot of time chasing little hopping rabbits in the Wonderland gardens of RMK.

Engine Room: The Golden Express Bandit

STORYLINE: Kurt Jameson, (formerly known as the Golden Express Bandit), lurched forward falling out of his chair. He had been fast asleep on his post outside the Dark Inventor’s door when the Clocktower Hotel violently shook. Danger! Danger! Danger! All around him were little mechanical sparrows sounding the alarm. He cursed under his breath and searched the wooden floor with his hands until at last he found what he needed. He quickly snapped the strange visor into place over the ruin of his face once more. As it hummed to life, he was able to see again. Without wasting more time, he grabbed his weapons and darted to the window to look outside. A dark ominous crack had formed across the sky, and from inside it, something impossibly bright fell to the ground with such a force the hotel shook again. He took a few steps back. Had the device malfunctioned? When his gaze returned outside, everything was normal. He shrugged and was about to leave when the crack reformed and the bright flaming object fell, but this time when it struck the ground it was so violent two brick buildings nearby fell. He gasped, “What the hell?”

Engine Room: The Society for the Prevention of Aging

STORYLINE: Like most bad ideas, “The Society for the Prevention of Aging” sounded like a noble cause at first. It began as a rich and powerful secret society's pet project. They threw an extravagant fund raiser. And not long after, a gifted inventor and powerful witch were commissioned. With the combined forces of science and magic, a time portal was created. However it could not stop aging, it could merely freeze time for anyone who dared to enter. Obviously, it was dangerous. A few limbs were lost before they realized they needed to bring their own oxygen supply, (frozen time has no chemical reactions). However with practice, they grew more bold. At first, it was innocent pranks like removing the chair from under a frozen person who was about to sit down. The prank played out flawlessly. The culprit never discovered. Since there was no law governing each and every moment in time, abuse of the society's newfound power escalated quickly to all manner of ghastly atrocities.  Is it any wonder, the sky itself cracked?

Aarya and I, (Team Blogger Bat!), joined forces once more for this image. We have been collaborating with Discord for awhile now; coming up with ideas, storylines, feedback on outfits, camera angles, lighting and EEPs. Its been wonderful. This image started as an idea for her dress, and quickly grew into Time Villains!   Many interactive scripted items on this one from the current round of The Engine Room. Ex Machina's Prof Baltazar's Astounding Portal is a site to site teleporter. It uses a cool special effect you can see in Advanced lighting. From Celeste is the Nixie clock that keeps SL time for you. From Whats Lost Spirits is a Steampunk greeter and Enforcer Orb. The lvl.9 Masks come with a hud that lets you retexture its many parts. (I loved the animated flames on the lenses.) I'm wearing the Tempus Shirt by AsteroidBox. It comes in male and female fits, and its mod. I opted to hide the corset part. On the shoulder is a fun SpiderBulb prop by White Crow. In set, you can see the fun Pipework Lamps by Dictatorshop. Engine Room: The Guardian of Time

STORYLINE: Time is a serious matter. It separates what-was from what-will-be. Without a present, there is no future. This simple fact is what caused the Great Time Calamity of New London. Freezing the movement of time cracked the sky. Through the fissure, a powerful being fell to Earth, Chronus.

This round of Engine Room is to die for. I can't believe just how amazing these items are! This post was inspired by the Time themed items, wings, and flaming sword at the Engine Room. 

The wings by Aii & Ego are the best so far in SL. They come with armor, halos, texture change hud, and lots of animations. I'm just blown away by the feather textures.   Let's talk about this lovely time themed coat by Somnium. It has matching hat, pant and boots, and a hud to change the colors. You just know my dapper heart is doing flips for this. So awesome!    I recently discovered Legacy Female Boots can often fit Legacy Male. So I just had to try this with the Eudora3D boots! It's not a perfect fit, there was a little poke on the outer inner thigh, but otherwise it works, just make the foot shape larger.   RavenBell has created another elegant hairstyle for men and women, Soleil. The braid down the back worked perfectly with the jacket.  The pants are a BOM texture by toksik, which comes in handy for thigh boots.   The earring by Quixe are a rigged fit for the Evo Elf ears.  And of course I wore my favorite L'Emporio&P claws.   ....yeah yeah, you want to hear all abut that flaming sword, right? Its Beautiful! I love it so much! It comes with a sheath, just click to draw the sword, and then touch the sword to light the blade! The flames are animated and even have sparks when start it it or extinguish the flame. Super cool.

Engine Room: The Robotic Burlesque

STORYLINE: The younger brother of the Marquess of Waterford, Lord Berksford, was throughly obsessed with automatons. He studied the masters and tinkered endlessly in his workshop. The result of all his work? In true scandalous fashion, (his big brother would be proud), he debuted The Robotic Burlesque to much fanfair. The show was the talk of the town. Berksford tolled not for fame, but for his own amusement. Sure his brother every now and then came with special requests, but it seemed innocent to him and he liked the challenge as much as the revenue. I mean what Gent wouldn't want giant spider legs to leap over tall buildings, right? When the police busted down his door and arrested Berksford for the Spring Heeled Jack Murders,  ... he was completely surprised.

The Engine Room is ending soon. Here's a last look at some wonderful creations there. This image was inspired by Burlesques, Steampunk Mechanics, and the beautiful What's Lost Spirit doll.

The Engine Room: Spring Heeled Jack

STORYLINE: The Marquess of Waterford was a prankster with an aristocratic disregard for the law. Together with his merry gang of drunken hooligans, he terrorized the sweet young ladies of New London. It started with simple jump-scares from behind a bush or darkened alley, and grew into elaborate costumes and clever contraptions that gave him seemingly supernatural abilities. But with all his hilarious tabloid fame came a dark side, -- a deadly imitator. What had been fun and games was now dripping in blood. He was Public Enemy Number One. Of course he couldn't go to the police for help! After all, he wasn't leaping over tall buildings to get closer to his pursuers. No, this was his problem to solve. Could he discover the true serial killer's identity before he was unmasked as the Marquess and framed for the numerous grisly murders?

STORYLINE: Officer Dobson waited silently on his perch above New London. Sweat matted his hair. It was another humid night. No doubt many naive young women had their windows open in hopes of catching a breeze. They knew nothing of the monster that plucked his eyes out. He turned his head towards the clack of a horse and buggy on cobblestones. The clocktower rang, once, twice, three times. The hair stood up on the back of his neck. There! On the street below. The sound he knew only too well. First came the click of those demonic metallic boots, the clicking of gears, followed by a mighty swoosh. He tightened his grip on the sword. The click of boots on the rooftop moved towards him. "Not one more woman, Spring Heeled Jack. Justice has come for you."

The Engine Room: Attack on Castle Noctem

STORYLINE: In the frozen wastelands, far from humanity, sat Castle Noctem, the fortress of the Vampire Elders. It was the most precious real estate in all vampiredom for a simple reason that the nights were long, and in deep winter, the sun didn’t rise at all. Being so far removed from their food source was not a problem as most the ancients were asleep. They were guarded 24/7 by the elite Royal Guard. They were outfitted with the latest technology, their armor impervious to daylight. It would be foolish for anyone to dare attack such a heavily fortified castle. So it came as quite a shock when the sirens began to wail. 

Tonight at the Engine Room there will be party and halftime giveaway you won't want to miss! See you there at 2pm - 4pm SLT.

The image above is inspired by the cool Process of Elimination Tannhauser armor. It comes in fits for many mesh bodies, and even digigrade leg for furries too. The texture hud will allow you to switch out the colors to your own preference. Also shown in the badass Val'More Prototype Revolver. It includes fun hold animations like flipping the bullet up and down. It had texture hud for switching the glowing word on the front, metallic color, and if you want to show or hide the crossbow.

The Engine Room: Monsieur Bleu

STORYLINE: The glamorous owner of the Vampire Ballet was not one to trifle with. Monsieur Bleu's image was that of a kind gentleman with a love for the arts. His enemies considered him the most docile of the vampire elders. The Werewolves were not scared as they captured his poorly hidden coffin during the day. They planned to experiment on him deep in the most secure section of the Vampire Hunter’s lair. However, as simple creatures they didn't know it was the day of the solar eclipse. They were caught completely by surprise when Monsieur Bleu exploded from his coffin with a ferocious attack. One by one they fell to his sharp high-powered wolfsbane venom injectors. They had no idea they walked right into his trap. It was Monsieur Bleu himself who leaked his coffin whereabouts to their spy. The foul oversized dogs were never a match for such a beautiful villain as himself, he claimed, afterall, one doesn’t live as long by being a fool.

Fall is my favorite time of year, and because Halloween is going to be a bit different year, I was feeling nostalgic for Halloweens past. So this image is inspired by both the new (The Engine Room) and the old (RMK Gothic). You can see the Engine Room’s shopping catalog here: Shopping Guide.

Engine Room: Revenge of the Machines

STORYLINE: The Black Baron had spent years developing a wondrous steam powered android. But tragedy struck when he was paralyzed in a Zeppelin crash. He planned to remove the android head and attach his own to the golden mechanical body. However learning of his plan, the "wondrous creation" had other ideas and loped his master's head off first. 

On the last day of the Engine Room, Contraption dropped an awesome new item, the Thibaut Waistcoat for 25% off. I only discovered the sale late night and tried to get this posted to alert you guys. If you missed it, don't worry, it will be at mainstore now. Fortunately, in my rush to get this image is out, actually had a set ready to go. Lucky turn of events! (It was an idea I had while my computer was down.) Here are some badass items from the 2nd round of Engine Room. The next round will be in September.

This amazing robot head is by Wicca Originals, it comes in sizes for men and women and robust texture hud to change out its many textures zones. The Ear gramophone comes with it and is separate from the head. On the table is the Skeletal Globe Lamp by Schadenfreude. It comes in several base texture, and includes light options.

Engine Room: Commodore of the Skies

STORYLINE: The frontier towns floating in the lawless skies of Venus were full of scavengers, ruffians, and pirates. But that all changed when the Commodore arrived. He was determined to make it safe for the pioneers.

These are the last days of round two of the Engine Room. Be sure to head over and scoop up some badass Steampunk goodies. Shown above is the Commanders coat by Salem. It comes in several base colors. The Gasmask is by The Forge. It comes in black and brown, unrigged and mod so you can adjust it for a good fit. The gun is by Reliquary and comes with a hud to draw, fire, and holster. It has optional textures you load into it. You can also buy a shell caddy for your gun. In the background is the Irongate Wharf by Ex Machina. Its meant for the water, but hey, it can fly too if you give some propellers. lol  Other items I used, The Blackjack rare Airship, and past LindenLab premium gift the Marauder. Gloves, pants, and boots are by Contraption. And adding a little movement is the Cureless Senshi cloth from gacha.
