Fantasy Faire 2025: Holi

STORYLINE: Deep beneath the Fairelands, in the dark waterways under the ancient city of Holi, slept the long lost brother of Krishna and Shesha. Early in their boyish adventures fighting demons on Earth, he had been struck down by the Unweaver and fell into a slumber that lasted over two thousand years.

But his feverish nightmare was finally broken by the sound of laughter. Rising from the shadows, he found people tossing colorful powder and chasing each other through the streets, their joy and mischief lasting from day into night.

Ah, the Celebration of Spring. With every burst of laughter, warmth returned to his old coils. Delighted, he shed his slumber like old snake skin and joined the celebration.

Suddenly, a boom roared above. He looked up, awestruck, as a shimmering lotus flower rained light over the crowd. It filled him with wonder and hope. If humans were capable of such marvels, maybe with their help the Unweaver, his old nemesis, could be defeated after all.

IT'S FANTASY FAIRE TIME! Or what I like to call, "the Super Bowl of virtual worlds." It's not to be missed!  This year the sim designers have outdone themselves, with stunning sim designs using PBR for new levels of realism. I feel like I'm inside a slick video game. And all for a good cause, raising money for The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. This post was inspired by the Holi sim and Hindu mythology.    ...For the Holi Naga, I used the wonderful Pandora blue skin by Aki, Entu. It comes with dot tattoos and 2 stripe patterns for face and body. The ear texture is a free gift. Other blue and purple skins are available.   ...The intricate halo is a wearable prop by AIR. It comes with a modify hud.   ...The floating Orbs are by The Little Bat. They come in left and right, and both trigger a hold pose and animation. A texture hud lets you change its color.   ...The Sunscale Naga tattoo is by AERTH and comes with material shine applier, and textures to match the amazing Aii Sunscale Naga tail.   ...Speaking of, the Aii Sunscale snake tail (see in pictures below) is stunning! Easily the best Naga/Lamia tail in SL. Like all Aii products it had a wealth of texture options and ability to hide or show various parts. It has PBR and shimmers beautifully in the lights. The tail uses a clever combination of Leg bones and Tail bones to animate the tail. It comes with an AO hud to display and animate the tail properly.   ...Bonus, when I need a static tail, (shown below), I use the Lamia by deviousMind.   ...Additional fun tattoos for the face are by Star Quake with a forehead fade and eye makeup Dessen by Faeble.   ...The haunting eyes are Magici by Patrichor. These eyes replace your normal ones, and have several rig options to fit every humanoid head. The texture hud allows a crazy amount of options, from single color to fades, shadow, highlights, animations, pupil, iris, etc. It's a lot of fun to play with and perfect for all fantasy creatures.   ...{anc} has many of the best atmospheric effects, the Holi smoke clouds, confetti, and fireworks just more examples of excellent mood setters. I especially love the fireworks. It's a mesh object with animated textures. A steal of a deal if you ask me! And money goes to Relay for Life.

Like all Fallen God creations, the Holi is extremely detailed with much thought invested into it, personality, a strong theme, and it's fun to explore. As you explore, you may spot some NPCs that are part of the Holi Helping Hands region Hunt. To start, go to Houses of Color 1 and 2. Midnight Order: Dragon Boy Centerfold

STORYLINE: Greetings dear readers and creatures of the night, this nocturnal journalist is happy to announce, after a year long hiatus, Midnight Magazine is back! We're excited to give a sneak peek at February's centerfold, the mysterious Dracotaur Sylus from the popular Deepspace video game. Yes, yes, he was difficult to coax into modeling for us, but with proper care, attention, and a lot of money were able to eventually win him over.

It's good to be back! I have been having fun with PBR, as you can see in the image above. lol. 

Midnight Order is MASSIVE, it's grown so huge since I was last in SL.  I'm just blow away by the quality and quantity of the items there. It's not to be missed! And grab the many goodies too, including a full outfit for the men!

This image was inspired by the JEYS's Imperial Dragon and Armor. I used a combination of red and black textures for the Dragon parts, and my favorite armor was the red with a cool flame texture. The Dragon Wings by JEYS are free gift at the event in 2 colors. For this picture I used the Moon Rabbit Phoenix Wings with flame colors.These wings come in Blended or Mask versions. I used the Masked version. The wings are animated textures that look like fire. They are bento with many animations, including hugs, and static poses. For the tail I used the bento Spinal Tail by Cubic Cherry. Its has many texture huds with PBR and includes an AO. On the face, I used the BOM tattoo AERTH's Daughter of Sun Facedecals Onyx for a cool look. And the most perfect eyes are Hellbourne's Phosphor Eyes's Vitae with the mix of grey, white and red.

Engine Room: Rusty Tears of the War Machine

STORYLINE: The General of New Deco was haunted. No amount of awards, medals, or ribbons could chase away his waking nightmare. The war was still raging with no end in sight. Everywhere he looked, ghosts of soldiers with no voices and eyes stared back at him. Why were they haunting him? He had reached the limit of what the body and mind could endure. He just couldn't, ... kill anymore. Of course his superiors were disappointed, after all he was a brilliant tactician and beloved by his men too, so they offered him an early exit if he would just sign a simple contract. Unfortunately for him, having too much time to think did result in one more death, -- his. So it came as a shock when he awoke inside a monstrous thing of metal and gears. His will was no longer his, since he had inadvertently signed it away. He was programed to obey. There was no such thing as mercy for a War Machine. The tears of rust on his automaton face were the only clues to the screaming, blind ghost locked inside.

How awesome is the Art Deco theme items at this around of Engine Room? I felt very inspired, and this idea grew out of it. Here are items I used in the image from the event: The Metropolis tattoo really fired my imagination, I paired it with the older Rust skin are from Fallen Gods and between the layers added a white tint by XyR. The outfit is the beautifully made Fotsoldier Gambsion by Turb. It has a hud to change textures. It's also mod, so I could hide the sleeves to show the arms. The right arm is Eliavah's Manticore Arm with hud to change its textures. Its made for the girl avatars, but Female Legacy was a close fit with only a small poke on the backside of the upper arm. The Left arm is Wicca's Barclay that has male fits, and a texture hud. For fun, I added the Frankie Bolts by Haunt that include a bloody neck tattoo layer. It's an Engine Room Gift. The General is smoking the Selenes Vape by Aerth. It has many texture options too.

Fantasy Faire : The Hidden City of Tenpyo

STORYLINE: Hidden beyond a snowy pass deep in the Nippon mountains, was the twelve hundred year old city of Tenpyo, the capital of the Oni Lands. Beautiful. Regal. A place untouched by modern times. It had been safely defended all these years. Until one day, the Benimurasaki Onmyōdō detected the evil miasma of the Unweaver had infiltrated their paradise.

The Fantasy Faire is back! This post was inspired by the hat and veil by Hopscotch and the fun skin and tattoo by Soul and AERTH. Not to mention, this stunning sim created by Gabriel. Here is a quick FAQ on Fantasy Faire off the top of my head.

**Q: What is the Fantasy Faire?**
A: Its an annual event hosted by the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Its like SL's World Cup or Super Bowl. It's HUGE! The theme is Fantasy (fiction, fashion, role play, decor, sim design, tabletop games, video games, anime/manga/comics, radio station, parties, art galleries, quest games, etc)

**Q: They raising funds?**
A: yes! All designers participating have an item for sale that is either a 100% donation or 50%. There is also a silent auction. Donations. And a Hud you purchase to play a quest game with stories, videos, and prizes. (note: A higher level hud includes an outfit for men and women). Last year in 2021 the Fantasy Faire in SL raised a new record, $95,178 in US Dollar (that's L$23,794,648 in Linden Dollars). So far this year after 8 days, the Fantasy Faire has raised $42,503 USD (that's 10,625,800L). Yes, I was not kidding when I said its huge! Relay for Life says of all their fund raising operations, SecondLife's Fantasy faire is by far the biggest fund raiser per money invested in an event. )

**Q: Ok! I want to see it, do I need to dress up in a costume?**
A: Come however you want, Fantasy allows for barely clothed styles, furries, city smashing giants, fairies, animal avatars, tiny kittens, robots, whatever you want as long as it's PG. But a word of  WARNING, the sims are very full of people and objects. To avoid lag, and enjoy the best experience, wear a low lag avatar, and work for graphic settings to keep frame rates up. **Q: What is there to do?**
A: Explore the 20 sims! Its very big deal to land a sim to decorate for the Fantasy Faire. Its SL's finest creating amazing fantasy settings. This my favorite part of the fair. I also enjoy people watching and making new friends. I have made many long lasting friends at the fair, good people too. You can also visit during live DJ shows and Live dance Performances. The Lit Sim has gatherings to talk about certain books and authors. Tabletop game tournament. Several sims have their own Hunts and Games. And the big game will start soon, you purchase a hud to play it. The first part usually requires hunting for objects hidden across the sims. The 2nd part takes place on the game sim, with puzzles. You can also shop like crazy. Lots of amazing stuff.

Wizarding Faire: The Trouble with Doyle, part 2

STORYLINE: Fia flopped down for lunch in the Great Hall of Hogwarts and sighed, "Has anyone seen Doyle? He's missing again." Her Griffendor roommates exchanged knowing looks. "You didn't hear? He reversed the word order of a spell, its some kind of learning disability, and summoned a small Dementor." Fia's eyes grew wide. All color drained from her face. "Shut up. He did not!" The other girl nodded, "It's true. Lucian's mom reported him to the Ministry of Magic. She demanded he get expelled immediately. You would think those slimy Slytherins would love to have a Dementor for a pet, and..." Fia suddenly stood up and slammed her fist into the table. "Don't talk about Doyle that way! He's wonderful!" She ran out of the hall to her favorite tree and sunk down to think. This was horrible. It wasn't right to kick him out of school for one mistake. Poor Doyle. She pulled from her pocket a treasured doodle drawing. Doyle made it on a lunch napkin. When no one was looking, she stole it. She traced the lines with her finger. He was really talented. It wasn't right he was getting kicked out....  Suddenly, an idea hit her! She raced to the library, grabbed a book of spells on casting magic by drawing symbols (instead of using chants), and raced to the Slytherin Dorms. She banged on the door like mad. "I need to see Doyle!" It was unlike her to be so bold. The Slytherin boys were annoyed. They told her it was too late, and to go away. But she refused to accept Doyle was already gone, so they showed her his empty dorm. It was only then her shoulders fell. "...but, I have the perfect plan to save him...."
