Akaneiro Oni - Blade for Hire

STORYLINE: Akaneiro was an Oni gone rogue, a hired muscle. He was known for being a capable Ronin, but few of the dwellers in the village realized what he was hiding under his hat, his tale-tell Oni horns.

I have a treat for you guys today, a fantastic sim I discovered! Soyokaze is a role playing sim that's beautifully made in the Edo Japan period. They locals are friendly (unless you draw a sword like I did for this picture. Drawing a sword is seen as invitation to get into a fight. lol) There is a cool interactive game on this sim, The Code of the Bushido. Some quests are puzzles, some require a 2nd person, and one of them requires skills and practice to pass. I recommend it for all fans of games in SL.

Before you head to the sim to explore and play, you will need to dress for the part. Above I am wearing an awesome new creation by Swagga, Ronin's Soul. It's one piece fitted mesh and it includes the top, pants, belt, two sheathed katana, and a water bottle. It's on sale now at We <3 Role Play. The Oni pauldron, bracers are an excellent new gacha by Pucca Firecaster. Touch the armor to resize it and it will also deliver to you a texture change hud.  All parts can be resized in the edit menu. The hat is another gacha item, but this one is by 22769 bauwerk. It was from a past Secret Affair, and sadly looks like it's no longer available. (I couldn't find it at the main store location.) The geta are by CerberusXing, and I added a fun tint to them. They can work with either slink or TMP feet, they not rigged and editable. For fun, I added the deep red nail polish by Senzafina. It's just one hud and it will add color to both hands and feet at the same time.

STORYLINE: It was not his lack of skill or Oni magic that got him captured, it was bad intel on how heavily fortified his objective was. Still, he made an oath to return to the Sacred Oni Lands once he escaped. He sensed the Oni had lost too much power. The humans had grown too bold. They no longer feared creatures such as him. He decided it was better to die in a last stand among his brothers and sisters then to suffer the humiliation of being captured by humans again.

How the Sakura Got its Bloom

STORYLINE: Back in time when the Sakura did not bloom like does today, the Emperor's beloved wife became ill during pregnancy with their first child. The physicians did what they could. All that was left was to pray. The Emperor went to the scared tree that oversaw his rule. He begged the spirit of the Sakura do him a favor once more and save his wife and unborn child.

Going on now is the Origami Spring Festival. It's a lovely time of year in Japan when the beautiful Cherry Trees bloom. The Origami event in SecondLife is not to be missed! There are so many awesome goodies and ambiance, and that of the surrounding sims, is excellent! The picture above was taken at the entrance of the event. This idea was inspired by two things, the cherry bloom theme of Origami and the wonderful new Wood Nymph skin by Fallen Gods. It comes in male and female, and those of you using mesh for your avatar, I have awesome news! The male Wood Nymph includes appliers for Slink hands and feet, The MeshProject body and head, and even an applier for Lotus! Fallen Gods skins on TMP look amazing! The awesome geta are from CerberusXing on sale at Origami. They are unrigged so you can fit them system, slink, or TMP feet. They come in black and light wood. I used the light ones, and added a pink tint to match the overall look. Fun! The cool horns, tail, and lantern are from the Ayakashi Yokocho gacha at Origami. The eerie pink glowing eyes are Ghoul eyes Bonbon by Lovely Disarry. The top, sleeves, necklace and cuffs are by Koshino Yamatano Orochi by BareRose and I added a tint to it. The pants are Cropped Sarrouel Pants by Chronokit. I love the movement in the Breeze hair by Tableau Vivant. It's from a past Creation.Jp event. Pose by Momomuller.

STORYLINE: The Spirit of the tree knew the unborn child was female and she would grow up as beautiful and delicate as her mother. So after much pleading, the Spirit agreed on one condition, the princess would join him and become his wife once she came of age. The Emperor was horrified and refused. Hearing his distress, Spirit told him not to worry, each Spring she would return and bring her beauty back into the world she left behind. With tearful eyes the Emperor agreed, and that is how the Sakura got it's bloom.

I'm so excited to show you this sweet tea house, Cha-Shitsu modern, by Theater Chain. I was lucky to get a sneak peek of this wonderful creation being constructed. It's all mesh with a clean white and black color palette. There are two front sliding doors, and off to the side is a sliding door for the host. It comes with two cushion for the patio, left is a female smoking pose, and right is for male. Inside there is an additional matt, hearth, and traditional tea ceremony kettle with wooden serving spoon. The tea house is 53 Li. You can see as demo for the house at the entrance gate of the event.

Also from Origami is the Wagasa Umbrella and bench. Touch the parasol and you change it's textures. The bench has 16 poses for male and female, and the two items are 2 li together. Over at the Tea House are lovely Traditional Japanese Furniture gacha items by Silvery K: the Kimono display, Tobacco box, and paper lantern. (NOTE: I used many of these Silvry K gacha items in a separate project, -- Prim Perfect's Linden Home Challenge: Japan. When the article comes out, I will let you all know!). Also shown are the {anc} obi display and cushions. The cherry trees are a subscription gift by Isovii.

Let me tell you a little more about items featured in the image above. First, I am wearing an interesting creation from Gabriel. It's a halfway on jacket. One arm is tucked inside the coat pocket, the other is free to move around. You can wear the light or dark undershirt. The outfit also includes a glove with metal studs for the free hand. There are 3 styles to choose from, green, brown, or blue. The jeans are also a clever creation. It comes in 2 parts. The main part of the jeans is a double waist (that means the hip-hop style of boxers showing and belted jeans lower on the hip). Second part is the lower leg, it's actually a second rigged mesh you attach. Why? Because you can choose what leg you want to fit your shoes. OMG I love this! I choose boot C because I wear boots a lot. But you can choose a normal bottom B, or a flared bottom A. There are 3 jean colors to choose from. The hair is by Salon de GLOW and on sale on for only 60L. There are two hair styles you can pick from at this great price. The boots are by Deco, and once more I wearing the The Mesh Project head, body, and Tableau Vivant tone one Felix appliers. In the background all decor items come from the No Concept gacha. It's on sale at only 40L a pull. These items are all nicely made. The clock keeps real time and you can adjust the time zone too. It comes in either white or black. The door with lamp is the rare. I love the little detail of the plug and electrical socket too. Next is the Ladder, and two stools with many good poses for girls and guys. (You can see two of the poses on the stools on my Big Ben Bats post.) Last is the Dice lamp. I scaled it smaller for table top size. The gacha is on sale and prices will go back up once the event ends. Run go get the deals, gang!

First Contact: Nathaniel York

STORYLINE: There were a lot of romantic ideas about First Contact. But the truth was far from it. Nathaniel York was no Marco Polo, no Christopher Columbus, or Neil Armstrong. Who he was is the jerk who seduced the Director of Exploration’s daughter. It got him a one way ticket to Mars. “I’m doing you a favor, Nathaniel.” he said, “Instead of the newspapers reporting your body floating in the river, they will be celebrating your bravery as the first man to make it to Mars.” Nate used to think going two weeks without getting laid was unbearable, but 4 months in total isolation locked in a tin can in space? He was climbing the walls! He prayed as hard as he could for God to just kill him now. And then strangest thing happened. The timid voice of a woman replied. She said she too prayed for the Great Firebird in the Sky to come take her away. He didn't know how to tell her he was no god, angel, or whatever. He was just some schmuck down on his luck. But if he played his cards right, the Martian girl might be able to help him find fuel for a return trip to Earth.

And introducing the reluctant astronaut Nathaniel York. He's sporting some badass creations from Swagga at Totally Top Shelf's scifi round. For the upper body is the Evolution 1 fitted mesh chest armor. The pants are Evolution 1 fitted mesh pants. Both chest and pant include a color hud for glowing parts. On the top of the armor is Flyboy pad white/silver from the OMG Gacha. The headvisor is the rare. It also comes with a hud to change the colors of the glowing parts. (I made the grill semi-transparent above, and the image below I hid the face parts.) Sitting over on the monitor is the adorable Zorgie midnight. He's rigged to sit on your shoulder (but I put him on the set). He's one of the rares from the Zorgie gacha at Totally Top Shelf. Love him! The desk, laptop, and chair Spaceship Junkjard Debris Set are by 22769 [bauwerk] on sale at Tattered Page. The complete set is 9 land impact, and the chair has 12 poses.

And now some more great news for the guys!  Tableau Vivant has released appliers for the Mesh Project Body and Head. For the head, you have two choices of Rays II and Felix. To add the appliers, wear them, click the hud to install. Then wear your MeshProject Stylemode hud. Look under the skintone number yours is named after. For example, above I used Tone 1, so I click on the Tone 1 Skin button and in that menu I could see see an icon with the words "Tableau Vivant." Click that to apply the skins. The head has blond, brown, red, black, and no brow options.  .. We have so many options now. Think about it. You can get your Mesh Project body to match your regular default head skin, or under your clothes you can match the Mesh Project Head with Slink hands or feet. WIN!

First Contact: Ylla K

STORYLINE: Mrs K was what they called, "First Contact" between the people of Earth and Mars. From the mind of the spaceman flying to her world, she saw images of the blue tinted beauty of Earth. She saw how the people of Earth lived. They were so different. She longed for the freedom they enjoyed. Her life could be so much more than it was. Why should she remain imprisoned in the home of a man who didn't love her when she could become famous on Earth? She wanted to be talked about and admired. She wanted to dress in the finest Earth fashions. But most importantly, she just wanted to be loved.

This round of a Tattered Page is the The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury. I was not familiar with the novel, so I got a copy and read it. It's a very different from what I expected. It's more like the Twilight Zone than a novel. Each chapter is a mini story and there's a very loose overall structure to it. It's very much from another time period. Our science, knowledge, and technology has advanced a lot since the 1950s. But I think the best way to view the novel is a series of metaphors about what happened in the past (such as when Europeans invaded the Americas, and Manifest Destiny) to scary realities of Nuclear War and what the mind set of the people was back in the 1950s. For my blog posts, I want to focus on an early chapter and expand on the story, the telepathic meeting of the minds between Mrs. K and Nathaniel York.

Mrs K above is wearing the skin by Fallen Gods. It comes with appliers for Slink hands, feet, nails, body and head as well as some others appliers. Nice! Her dress is the gorgeous design by Pale Empress. I love the raised surface of velvet bats on the skirt. Every goth girl in SL needs to RUN get this dress! It's awesome. The handheld mask is also by Pale Empress. It comes with a hud to change the colors, and it triggers a hold pose when worn. Her Martian eyes are by the Chop Shop.
