STORYLINE: The tide was rising rapidly in the Crescent City. A long black limousine slowly came to a stop in front of a quaint white shotgun cottage. Despite its caution, the car's wake splashed into the house. An angry outburst roared from inside, cursing the many Voodoo gods. La Croix smiled secretly to himself as he picked his way carefully through the floating debris. He knocked politely at the front door of the savior of the city, Maman Brigette. She was dressed for battle in black leather and armor and she shot him a hell of a dirty look that would surely have killed him if he wasn't already dead. Then she pretended he wasn't there as she frantically tried to recreate her Veve ceremony on the waterlogged floorboards. "No ritual gonna save us dis time, Maman. We gots to go." So many people were counting on her to save them, but there was no fixing a sinking city and a rising ocean. They really were going to loose everything this time. There was no spell strong enough to divert all this water. She covered her face with her hands, and began to sob. "Nah nah, cheri." He sat down in the water beside her and hugged her shoulders. She was such a powerful woman, it broke his heart to see her cry. "I gots news," he handed her a parchment scroll with a wax seal. She frowned, confused by such an odd thing at a time like this. He pointed to the ankh symbol in the wax seal. "The Ancient One has summoned us. He offers us a place of honor in his new nation." She snatched the letter, read it quickly, then read it again just to be certain. She looked up at the Baron and blinked. "What does the king of the vampires want from us?"

The Weighing of the Heart

STORYLINE: Welcome mortal. Your soul’s journey has come to it's final test. Is your heart lighter than a feather, or is it weighed heavy with sin? The Keeper of the Balance is all seeing. Woe be unto you for he can not be tricked or bribed. The Wicked shall perish here.

When I hopped over to the Fantasy Gacha and spotted the Ensepulcher series by Papermoon, I squeaked and started hitting that machine like mad. I'm a huge Ancient Egypt fan. Anubis is my favorite deity. The detail on this gacha is wonderful and of course the Scales of Truth is a powerful symbol. Many ideas from Ancient Egypt are still with us today such as the commandants, going into the light, the judgement of the dead, and an idyllic afterlife. They believed when a person died, their soul journeyed through the underworld. If they completed all tests they would reach the end and stand on trail before Anubis. They would recite the 42 Commandments of Ma'at and proclaim to have not broken any of the laws. Anubis however is not fooled by lies. He would take your heart (which thought to be the seat of your soul), and weigh it against the feather of Ma'at. If your heart was heavier than the feather, your heart would be destroyed and thus you are annihilated. If you pass the test, your soul is then allowed to enter the blessed afterlife in the Elysium Fields. (Yes, that is Egyptian too!) ... The Papermoon set has all the tools used in the Egyptian mummification process such as the 4 Canopic Jars that hold the internal organs, and a cranial hook to pull out your brains out through your nose. Hey if you want your body to remain preserved for all time, you have to make a few sacrifices. lol

So how does Anubis rip your heart out? How about the badass Azrael gloves by Remarkable Oblivion? They reminds me of Horus with the feather details and talon like claws. The Azrael gloves come with a Hud that will switch the colors from black, gold, and bloody. You can also pose the fingers, and thats not all, they animate in wonderfully scary way too! LOVE IT! You can find them at the Dark Style Fair which opens May 17th.

The rest of my outfit comes from pieces I have collected over the years, I have several different Anubis characters. This one wears the Hawk hair by Wasbi Pills, Leg Harness by .Shi, Wolfen eyes and makeup By Snow, sandals by Pure Poison, and Slink Claws with cool foot pads for Slink male flat foot. For Throwback Thursday fun, my non-mesh items are the Anubis Ears and the Anubis staff from the Tokushi Anubis, collar and cuffs by Illusions, and kilt by Shai. The Pyramid and firebowls are from the HR.PyramidePalace by Han Roffo. You can't get it anymore, but the dark Pyramid dungeon is still available.

Madpeas: The Lennon Park Massacre

STORYLINE: Summer Camp was supposed to be fun. But people went missing. At first it was only one camper, then another, and another. It didn't take much brains to know there was foul play. That night, Dave was woken by his dog's warning bark. If it weren't for his trusty dog, he would have been a goner for sure! A heavy tree almost hit him in his sleep. Someone chopped that tree down on purpose to fall on top of his tent. He was lucky he got only a few bumps and bruises.

Valentine's Day is coming. It's a time of year that inspires groans and depression. It's so rotten it's ripe for a Gothic revision. Forget cupid, this year I will dress up as a demon. Since no one is really scared of me, I will wear a shirt that gives a dire warning, "I will cuddle you so hard." lol

This is Vonie, the next generation of the Vaughns. He showed up on my doorstep and announced he was my long lost son. Before I could ask questions, he pointed to his blood stained tuxedo and asked for my help. Judging by the black rose bouquet with the notecard reading "I hate you," I tend to agree. I listened to his tale of woe in stunned silence. I dont know what he is doing on these "dates" of his, but the fool keeps going out there, day after day looking for love.
