Engine Room, Androgyny Event, Camp Syndicate: Plague (Escape from Club Apophis, 22)

STORYLINE:  “So they’re vampires,” Plague said flatly, breaking the silence before anyone could romanticize it. “Ancient, ridiculously dramatic vampires who decided to cosplay as mob bosses. Great story pitch. It’s like 'The Godfather' meets 'Interview with the Vampire.' Coppola would weep. Can we get back to the part where we save our friend?”

The hologram of the speakeasy collapsed in a shower of static, leaving behind the coppery whiff of spilled blood and the phantom scent of gunsmoke in the air. The workshop fell silent again, the gentle ticking of Minjo’s brass contraptions marking time while everyone ignored him.

Ghost’s hands were a blur, cross-referencing Prohibition-era mob hierarchies with everything he could scrape from the net about Monstrum. Minjo, her back to everyone, was already sketching a rescue plan on a nearby whiteboard. Echo sat cross-legged on the floor beside the Black Snakeskin Box, a tangle of wires and circuit boards spread around her as she coaxed its strange power core to life.

Plague stretched, cracked his neck, and muttered, "Okay, I'll just be over here in my corner. Quietly creating a miracle cure for a biological horror, like I’m Alexander Fleming. No biggie. Don't mind me."

No one did.

He snatched the vial of claws, and the tube containing strands of Jihoon’s old hair from the workbench. “I’m starting the analysis. Yell if the time machine spits out Al Capone’s ghost.”

His corner of the workshop looked like a cybernetic parasite grafted onto an antique heart: chrome instruments threaded through brass skeletons, his bioreactors blinking among Minjo’s clockwork arms. His parents paid her obscene rent for the privilege, -- hoping her discipline might rub off on their prodigal heir. They saw Minjo as a future leader, a sound investment. Plague just saw her as the only person unimpressed by how big his inheritance would be.

He laid out the samples. The first: a few black strands from the paper crane —Jihoon before Lathandro. The control. The second: an obsidian claw clipped from a bandaged hand in the hospital—the mutation. He whistled softly. “From origami to armageddon. Let’s see what you’re made of, buddy.”

A flicker of memory cut the grin short. Guilt churned in his stomach. He remembered leaning against the lockers, voice dripping with practiced disdain as the new, beautiful Jihoon walked by. "Stupid femboy," he’d said, too loud, too easy. "Bet he hacked his DNA."

The words tasted like poison now, because they were a lie meant to hide a truth. The real criminal biohacker of Jae Won University was him. He was the one obsessed with gene-hacking. For months he’d been running back-alley CRISPR protocols on himself, trying to code sharper cheekbones, a clearer complexion, anything for an edge in the cutthroat world of biotech grants. But his body had fought back, rejecting it all: rashes, migraines, a week shaking with fever. He had failed. He built a containment suit to keep the evidence and the shame sealed away.

So when Jihoon emerged from Club Apophis remade, and radiant, Plague’s envy had been swift and vicious. He’d projected his own failure onto Jihoon, painting him as a cheater. He’d pushed his friend away right when Jihoon needed him most, and that path ended at the stadium with Jihoon screaming, engulfed in fire.

This was penance.

He would find a cure. A cure for Jihoon first, but maybe a cure for himself, too. He’d save his friend, fix his own flawed biohack, and be hailed as the man who finally conquered DNA-rewrite rejection. He allowed the daydream to flicker, his speech accepting the Nobel Prize as cameras flashed. He grinned at the thought.

“Science first. Glory later,” he told the sequencer. “You and me, let’s make history."

The sequencer hummed to life, running a full genomic sequence. The results for the control sample were clean. Unremarkable. Perfectly boringly human. He saved the file, fed a sliver of the obsidian claw into the machine, and waited. Then repeated the process.

Hours bled into a blur. The distant chatter about safe zones and infiltration routes faded into white noise. By the time the first hints of dawn stained the workshop’s high windows, he was staring at the screen, rubbing his eyes, his mind refusing to process what the data said.

Finally, he pushed back from his station, his chair groaning in the quiet. “Uh, guys?”

His voice was strained. Minjo turned from the whiteboard, her marker frozen mid-sentence.

“I’ve got the results,” Plague said, running a hand through his hair. “There’s no difference.”

“What do you mean, no difference?” Minjo demanded, marching over.

“I mean before and after—identical. No viral markers, no synthetic code, no biohack signature. Either the universe is pranking me, or Jihoon’s DNA is the same old boring model.” He held up a finger. “And before you say contamination, I ran it six times.”

Minjo crossed her arms. “That’s illogical. We saw the claws. Your process is flawed. Do it again.”

“Six times, Minjo. Seven if you count the one where I forgot to breathe.” He sighed, dramatic. “My methodology is sound. The equipment is calibrated perfectly. The data is the data. Maybe you should accept that instead of assuming I’m an idiot!”

“I’m not calling you an idiot! I’m saying the result is impossible. There must be an error in the process.”

Before the argument could catch fire, a soft chime interrupted. Ghost lifted his gloved hands, holographic text drifting in a calm blue light above them. A simple question floated in the air: "Did you test the mitochondrial DNA?"

Plague froze.

Mitochondrial DNA, -- the power source of every living cell. He hadn’t even considered it.

He shot Ghost a grudging look. “Oh sure, Hologram Hands gets the win." He shook his head and muttered, "Sheeze, why is he always like that?"

He turned back to his console, frustration replaced by focus. An hour later, as the new analysis populated the screen, his jaw went slack. Half of Jihoon’s cells looked normal—powered by the same messy mitochondria as everyone else’s. The rest were something else entirely. His scanners couldn’t classify the energy source; the instruments simply read it as undefined.

The data made his blood run cold. “What the hell are you, Jihoon?”

The others gathered around as he stumbled back, his heart hammering against the metal ribs of his suit.

“What? What is it?” Minjo asked, her voice sharp with alarm.

“I found something alright. This isn't a bio-hack,” Plague breathed, his voice trembling with awe and terror. He pointed a shaking finger at the cellular map. “Jihoon isn’t being rewritten or infected. He’s a chimera. Half human… half something that doesn’t match any known terrestrial bio-signature. Two systems running in one body, and it looks like one of them wants the stage all to itself.”

A heavy silence settled over the workshop, the machines ticking like distant clocks.

Echo’s voice, quiet but certain, broke it. “Then we’d better hurry.”

Plague looked back at the screen, the dueling biological signals flickering like rival heartbeats. His voice came out soft, almost a joke. “Well,” he said, “guess we finally proved 'Meteor Strike' really is out of this world.”

No one laughed.

The glow from the data deepened, and for a breath, it felt as though the thing inside Jihoon was staring back.

Halloween Season is upon us. But as you know, dear readers, Halloween is everyday on BishieStyleSL. lol.  I was so lucky to have items
from three events perfectly suited for our handsome but flawed boy Plague.   ...From the brand new event Camp Syndicate, (which inspired by cabin-in-the-woods slasher horror movies), is the coolest icky scar wound material effect I have ever seen in SL, -- Decay by Cubic Cherry. It's a BOM tattoo layer with 3 layers of bom plus materials effect for EVO X mesh heads. You can adjust the layers to best suit your skintone for max effect. Using well positioned face lights can enhance the effect, I used red and cyan.   ...From the Engine Room is the gorgeous SOMNIUM Automaton MK2 mesh body, with a,
outer frame and skeletal inner frame. The PBR materials are excellent and it poses well. It comes in 6 different texture styles. I used the black and red Enforcers for this image. Just wonderful.  ... From the Androgyny Event is the Maledictus Lacrimosa BOM makeup style that worked great on my male EvoX mesh head! I love the shadow below the eye, and upper lid with a metallic loud color.  Also at AE is the fun Prismo Aura attachment doubling as DNA molecules in my image. The hovering rocks move, some float, some spin in place. It comes with a texture hud for 8 colors and 7 glow colors.   ...In the background, I used the Ambice Cyber "Nova'' Station, but in my final image, you can barely tell it's still. Still, I wanted to include it and show you what it looks like below in the raw shots. The set is mod, so you can move pieces around or scale it up or down.=.

Androgyny Event: Order vs Chaos (Escape from Club Apophis, 14)

STORYLINE: Deep in the Neu Seoul headquarters of Monstrum, MasterGin lounged with the poise of a cat who had clawed open a birdcage only to find the prize dull. The sanctum’s grand mirrors, polished obsidian reflecting a glitchy, fragmented reality, caught him in splintered fragments—silver skin, silky cuffs, a grin rehearsed for an audience not yet assembled. The air, heavy with the scent of synthetic of oriental spice and overclocked servers, held a faint electric hum. And a neon pink glow from the bioluminescent cave garden outside pulsed erratically, casting lurid shadows that danced like phantoms across the mirrored walls.

The Ruler’s presence announced itself long before he appeared. He did not enter; he descended. A vibration crawled through the chandelier’s crystal bones, a hum that made the very air hold its breath, a digital sigh. His form materialized from a swirling vortex of shadow and shimmering code, a storm with no need for thunder. Even in tailored modern attire, the ghost of a Pharaoh clung stubbornly to him: broad shoulders draped in shadow, long golden dreadlocks arranged across one side like a polished nemes. His eyes were molten ore, terrible in their patience, with a faint, low-res static flickering deep within them.

Gin, ever the performer, adjusted his hair in one sweep and arranged himself into his most provocative silhouette, defiant mischief lacquered onto every angle.

“You disappoint me, Lucien.”

He did not raise his voice, yet the velvet syllables dragged centuries of command behind them, a resonant echo that vibrated deep in Gin's bones.

“Your unauthorized indulgence risks exposing us. Scandal won’t lull human curiosity, -- it will sharpen it.”

Gin flicked invisible dust from his shoulder with a hand too languid, too deliberate. The pout that followed was operatic, designed for drama, but for a split second, the performance dropped. The muscles in his jaw tightened, a flash of something hard and bitter crossing his features before it vanished.

“You could have ordered him into obedience,” the Ruler said at last, his shadow lengthening until it coiled like a leash. “Instead, you left him raw. Exposed.”

“One doesn’t break a spirited horse, Darling. Let it choose the bridle of its own volition. I’m an artist, not a butcher.”

The Ruler’s silence stretched. It pressed against the room, against Gin’s skin, as if a blade hovered just above the vein. The air grew perceptibly colder, the electric hum from the walls dipping to a near-silent thrum.

Gin’s grin faltered, then reassembled itself in defiance. He met the Ruler’s gaze.

“You will apologize.” The Ruler’s words dropped like iron, and his breath, when it came, felt hot and arid as a desert wind.

Gin blinked, his lashes fluttering. “To Jihoon? He should apologize to me for refusing my devotion. I gave him—”

“No.” The Ruler’s lips curved, cruel and amused. “To the President of the United States.”

For one heartbeat, even Gin had no script. His perfect posture broke, his back arching slightly in shock. Then he let out a sound halfway between a laugh and a cough. “Oh. …ah… that little… misunderstanding.”

“You threatened to melt his face off. On live satellite stream.”

“Darling!” Gin gasped, spreading his hands like a martyr. “It was metaphor. Performance art. Americans are so literal.”

The Ruler did not blink. “You will apologize.”

Gin collapsed backward into the velvet couch with mock despair, the bio-fibers of the couch shifting to accommodate his weight. He draped an arm across his eyes. “What a ghastly punishment. To abase myself before that decrepit man. Very well—if I must. But I’ll do it on my terms. A gala. Lights, cameras, an audience worth my humiliation. My apology will be spectacular.”

The Ruler stepped closer, and the air chilled. His gold eyes burned like twin suns sinking into an eclipse. “Don’t mistake indulgence for mercy. Your leash is mine. Pull once more against it, and you will choke.”

Gin’s smile remained, but the set of his jaw revealed steel beneath the glamour. He rose slowly, sweeping his silver locks from his shoulders in a practiced cascade.

The Ruler’s voice followed, low and commanding, his voice a disembodied whisper as if from a thousand miles away: “Get your equipment. You are keeping your appointment and apologizing if I have to drag you by the hair myself.”

“As you command,” Gin murmured, bowing low.

The Ruler’s hand rested briefly on Gin’s shoulder. It felt cold and unyielding as stone, yet the weight of it was strangely familiar, a chilling point of contact that felt less like a touch and more like a brand. It was the same touch that had once pulled Gin from mortality and into a new life of eternal servitude and shared dominion. For a moment, a memory flickered between them—of a promise made in blood and a bond forged in centuries of shared secrets. The Ruler gestured toward the doors. Together, they left the sanctum, a storm of elegance and menace, bound for a world unready for their theatrics.

This image was inspired by the Lanneah dress, Marilyn Monroes's "Happy Birthday Mr President" and details from this week's chapter in the ongoing Apophis series. It was a very challenging chapter and image concept. The setting was built from scratch, even the Washington Monument! But enough about the behind the scenes, here are some details of the cool items shown....

Over at Sabbath is the another luxurious sexywear outfit by YUEBIN for men and women, with panty options. The deep scoop neckline is very cool, and there is scoop in the back too! Double the cool.   (BONUS Scoop: There is wonderful PBR limited edition gift version of this outfit in the Enchantment Nevermore Hunt. Hunt the YUEBIN store for the raven to find the gift.) ...Over at Androgyny Event ending soon, are Cult's must have pair for boots for fashionably daring men, the Lanneah boots. It includes fits for female avatars too of course.   ...From Trap is the adorable Doll Collectable. You just pick the hair style you want with the outfit you want, and buy it. You can buy additional eyes. And there is a free developer pack to make your own textures too. Its mod, so I added  to the little fellow a little shine effect and a Jihoon's trademark teal shirt. The doll comes with 6 doll poses, a hud to change the eye art, and they each trigger an avatar hold pose for the doll. Very fun!   ...From Yummy is great glam goth jewelry set for men! I used the Gianni fit for Legacy Male with no trouble. I love this exists, now I want a PBR version.   ...The stole I picked up on the last weekend sale at Dernier, perfect timing.   ...The  nylon bodysuit by Bas de Laura Store looks simple, but close up its very detailed with texture and well placed steams like nylons. Love it.  ... I am forever searching for the perfect Sakura. In this post are some of the best yet, the LOVE Cherry trees and the very detailed TC Wild Gnarly Sakura.  The detailed one has a large land impact, so use as a statement piece instead of landscape.   ...The Tame hair by BonBon has a bit of a modern update to the Marilyn style hair.   ...I looked for the perfect bar stool and found a nice one by Dogma that was also mod! So could change it up with PBR textures that suit the scene.   ....The sidewalks come from the Make a Mark Japanese Sakura River site model2, and I added the led lights to cyberpunk it up, and created the Washington Monument with simple prims.

Androgyny Event: Escape from Club Apophis, 7

STORYLINE: Minjo waited by the cyber diner, her boot tapping against the tile. Jihoon was late, though that didn’t surprise her.

The late afternoon sunlight filtered through the synthetic leaves of the solar trees in the campus courtyard, casting moving shadows across the cement walkways. Heat shimmered pink on the pavement as students strolled past with leftover merch bags from the VIP event.

After the media storm Lisa Liemawr whipped up with that ridiculous impromptu pep rally livestream, Minjo half-expected he’d ghost her altogether. She was tired of waiting. Tired of being patient. She knew he had to pass this way to get home.

As a shadow crept across the courtyard, she spotted him—right on cue.

He came jogging around the corner, breathless. Not in his usual baseball uniform, but in sleek designer sportswear far too expensive for a student like him. Perfectly tailored to his uncanny new figure. The kind of outfit you wore when you wanted to be seen. It hugged him in all the wrong—no, right—ways. Too stylish. Too clean. Too perfect.

“Minjo! OMG, I’m so sorry,” he said, tugging at his collar. “I—I didn’t mean to miss lunch. I was—”

“At the red carpet,” she said flatly, arms crossed. “Smiling for a man who does not officially exist.”

He winced.

She pointed behind her. “Sit.”

Jihoon obeyed like a kid caught rerouting school servers for extra credits. He slouched onto the bench, fingers tugging at his sleeve to hide the exoskeleton arm.

Minjo sat across from him and flicked open her tablet. A paused livestream filled the screen: his photoshoot, side by side with Kyra draped all over him. Jihoon looked luminous. Too perfect. She glanced at him now, -- real, but only barely.

“You don’t even look like yourself anymore.”

He said nothing. The silence between them stretched, ...not peaceful, but the silence of something slipping away.

“Lisa is selling slippers with your face on them,” she added. “She trademarked ‘Lathandro.’ You’re trending.”

Jihoon buried his face in his hands.

“You don’t want to know what’s being done to you? You think you can just bury your head in the sand?”

His voice came out raw. “It’s not... I didn’t ask for this.”

“No. But you are letting it happen.”

Minjo reached into her hoodie pocket and pulled out a compact mirror. She didn’t ask permission. She just flipped it open, adjusted the angle, and tilted it. The dying sun caught its polished surface and bounced the beam directly into Jihoon’s face.

He screamed and recoiled like it was acid, knocking over the drink she had brought him. The LED on the glass flashed a warning as it fell, just before it shattered across the tile. Jihoon clutched his cheek, stumbling back from the bench, breath ragged, eyes wide.

“Frack! It burns!”

Minjo closed the mirror calmly. Slowly. Then stood.

“Now we’re getting somewhere.”

He stared at her like a cornered animal.

“You’re photosensitive. You’re being watched and manipulated. You’re mutating. I don’t know what it is—cybernetic, pharmaceutical, biohacking, metaphysical, whatever. But believe me, I will figure it out.”

Jihoon’s lips trembled. He was too stunned to speak.

“I’m coming to your dorm tonight,” she said, stepping forward, voice cool and commanding. “I’m bringing Scrappy, diagnostic kits, and every sensor I own. I need access to thoroughly search your dorm—and all that gear you definitely can’t afford.” She pointed to the exoskeleton on his batting arm. “Everything will be examined. No clue too small.”

Jihoon stared at her—afraid, helpless, but maybe, just maybe, also relieved.

“And Jihoon?”

He looked up.

“No more lying.”

She walked off, her boots crunching broken glass. Scrappy 2 padded after her, tail wagging.

Behind them, Jihoon collapsed against the wall, clutching the spot where the light had touched his cheek. It still throbbed.

He wasn’t fine.

He wasn’t okay.

And for the first time, he was finally ready to admit it.

Jinkies! Cyber Velma is not amused, look out King Cobra, she's gonna rip off that fancy mask. lol. ...There's lots to come, but it depends on my blog events.

....For this Androgyny Event post, I did something different, this time its for the girls to gender bend. It was just such a great event, I don't want to stop showing cool things. lol. ...Jihoon is wearing the JACK.EXE outfit from Gabriel. The Cybernetic arm is part of the clothing. Androgyny Event: Escape from Club Apophis, 1

STORYLINE: He ran.

Boots slapped through puddles at a frantic pace, spraying water in rhythm with his pounding heart. The downpour cloaked his presence as if it could wash away what he had become. Neon reflections of acid green, candy pink, and electric blue, rippled across slick asphalt like spilled desires. Neu Seoul dozed behind its steel mask, but something beneath its skin was wide awake screaming.

A sleek black hovercar shrieked overhead. Its searchlight sliced through the haze like a hungry predator. Inside his skull, the whispers began again, low and coaxing, like silk sliding over a blade.

"Come back to us, Lathandro... We love you... We miss your warmth…"

He gritted his teeth and sprinted harder.

"My name is Yoon Jihoon,” he panted, as if the words could ward them off. “I’m a student at Jae Won University. I study. I keep out of trouble. My friends say I’m boring. I had a normal life."

"You had nothing, Little Bookworm,” sneered a new voice, richer and more honeyed with cruelty than the rest. “We gave you Beauty. Power. Desire. Every inch of you was made to be seen. And you ran."

It was the King Cobra himself, no doubt the pilot of the luxurious black hovercar.

He could hear him clearly now: arrogant, theatrical, purring each syllable with operatic flair. Seducer. Sculptor. Sadist. Jihoon could feel the demonic cybernetic surgeon's lingering presence like a phantom kiss on the nape of his neck.

"You don’t belong among *them* anymore, Little Worm. Stay with us. Be adored. Your lips are meant to be worshipped."

His torn parka flared behind him like broken wings. His body didn’t feel like his. Too graceful. Too strong. Too perfect. A nightmare had reshaped him, a nightmare called Club Apophis. He remembered stumbling into that cursed place on a dare one night. But it felt like three years of velvet madness. Whatever reshaped him in Club Apophis, it hadn't completed its work.

The spotlight hit him like lightning as the hovercar swooped low. He caught his strange reflection in its obsidian skin. Porcelain skin. Hair soaked, cascading in streaks of white, cyan, and candy pink. Bright, doll-like eyes rimmed in high-art makeup. Glossed lips parted in panic. Latex clung to his body like a second skin, squeaking with each breathless twist.

He no longer looked like the awkward, bookish boy who went in. Now he looked like something summoned from a fever dream. Androgynous, divine, and utterly unforgettable.
Ahead was the last barrier to his freedom, a tall rusted chainlink fence. Beyond that, dawn was breaking, its rays slicing between skyscrapers in soft hues of pink and silver.

Jihoon summoned strength from deep in his altered frame, and leapt.

The fence caught his coat, tearing it. He hit the concrete hard, knees scraped raw. Sunlight ricocheted off the mirrored skyscrapers, cutting through the gloom like a blade of fire as he collapsed in a pool of light.

Behind him, the shadows hissed in fury.

The menacing black hovercar halted. Then, slowly, it too backed away. The shadows slithered back toward the forested ruins.

"Be careful, Little Worm. The daylight might crack your pretty dollface."

And then... the car backed away. The shadows slithered back toward the ruins.

Jihoon stood slowly, legs shaking, breath ragged. Blood ran down his shin, but he didn’t care. He was out. He was free.

And yet his heart ached. Part of him wanted to turn back. To return to the club. To its kisses. It's velvet chains.

“No,” he whispered, clenching his fists. “I need to find that rat bastard who dared me to spend the night there.” Sunlight glinted in his hair as he turned toward the city. “I’m gonna punch his lights out.”

I have some awesome news for fans of androgynous style, a brand new event just for you will be recurring monthly, The Androgyny Event! So far it seems to be a smash hit! I'm so happy such an event has been created. ...And on Monday, May 19th there will be live DJ at 5pm SL for the halftime show.
