ScifiCon: Radical Ed and the Quest for Space Lobster

STORYLINE: On the dusty streets of New Albuquerque in the off world colonies, a strange flame haired teen danced and sang to a song only he heard. Following behind Radical Ed was a short legged dog dressed in a lobster costume. In the teen's arms were takeout boxes from Space Lobster, and on top of that was an open laptop almost at his eye level. The screen flickered with the image of a blue haired woman. “Damn it. He got away. I don’t see why I should pay for dinner when I have no money! It should be the one who collects the bounty!” A nonchalant sounding guy replied, “Hey, not my problem you make bets you can’t pay.” The woman began to curse. In the distance, Ed heard gunfire. He checked a map on his computer, then stopped in front of a hanger. Its massive door slowly groaned open. “We’re heerrree!” He placed the boxes on the ground and pointed to his furry companion, “Guard, Einstein!” The little corgi smiled and barked. Ed looked back in the distance towards the gunfire. It was getting closer. He hurried inside, but froze in his tracks at the awe inspiring sight looming over him, -- the AMC Tiger Mech. “Whoa.” Then a big mischievous grin grew across his face. In a blink of an eye, he pirouetted up the scaffolding, and landed inside the heavy war machine. His hands danced at the controls as he Oooed and Ahhhed at the shiny technology. Then he reached down, grabbed a handful of wires, and yanked. “Oops,” he chuckled. He popped open his laptop, plugged it into the machine, and typed as fast as the gatling gun firing outside. Close, too close!  He smashed the enter key, tossed a bomb with a smiley face into the cabin, and hopped to the ground with a soft thud. The corgi barked and ran up to him. Panic crossed Ed's face as he quickly scooped up the little dog, dropped low, and rolled behind a cluster of tall metal crates. Gunfire began to ricochet into the hanger. Metals sparks all around them. When the ammo ran out, a man wearing a cowboy hat raced in. But he had no face. What he had instead was a solid metal plate with heat seeking vision. The Golden Express Bandit! Ed watched quietly as the bandit labored up the scaffold, leaving a trail of blood, then flopped into the pilot seat. “Goodbye, Spike Spiegel!” he snarled as the Tiger’s guns suddenly stirred and aimed outside. “Shit!” A figure silhouetted against the bright sand outside, dove to the side just as 3 rockets launched in his direction. Ed reached down with his hand and clamped the dog's jaw shut as the rockets exploded. The ground shook. The sound of the explosions reverberated in the desert canyon. A few moments later, Spike's weak voice flickered through the laptop. “Damn.... No ...lobster tonight. I... I think I need a medic.” Ed punched in a few keys on the laptop. As the cockpit canopy lowered and locked tight, a grin spread across his face like the cat who caught a mouse. The mech began to fill with smoke. “Nitey Nitey Mr. Express." Outside, a confused Spike stumbled into the hanger holding his side. Ed popped up from behind the crates and pointed to the charred lobster boxes. “Order more, your treat!” The towering mech lumbered out of the hanger with Ed trailing behind it, his fingers working a joystick. Spike leaned against the wall, and watched the kid with the little corgi trotting behind him still wearing a ridiculous lobster costume. He lit up a smoke, and shook his head, "Damn brat. Next time we bet on who pays the hospital bill."

Its ScifiCon in SL! Have you see it yet? Many fun sims, a hunt, cool things to buy in themes of Cyberpunk, Dieselpunk, Space Western, Steampunk, Super Heroes, Silvertech, Ecotech, and Near Future. This post and story were inspired by items at the event and the anime Cowboy BeBop. From Death Row Designs is a stunning fully meshed sim with shitton of decor items that is just stunning to behold. The DRD team worked for months on this massive Space Western theme build. And delivering badassness, is the brand new AMC mech and repair bay with animated repair arm and flying repair bot by Solaras. For Ed's outfit is the Cyber mechnic by MALified, and Googles and backpack by Butanik83. Radical Ed is an ambiguous gendered character, so for my take on him I used Off-shoulder Crop Top with V-tech flat chest mod for Maitreya, and +AH+ collar to hide the seam with a male head Kane by Lelukta, wearing female face skin by DeeTalez and Boi skin by Pink Fuel. Since this is a mechnic outfit and Repair Bay and Hanger, I threw in the Sekai pipe Wrench for fun. And speaking of fun, how adorable is the little Corgi by Sweet Thing & DarkendStare?

And now a little more Information about the very cool new [AMC] Solares Tiger mech. At Scificon, you can demo the Tiger and try it out within the store. You will first want to buy from the vendors for Basic Mech, Deluxe, or Mega pack which includes everything. If you want to do max Relay for Life donations: 1) Get the basic (The basic includes the Tiger and all you need to start fighting.) Then 2) walk over to the row of Relay for Life vendors to get fun addons like the popular Repair Bay, or Cat Ears for your mech, and a variety of skins. Now how do you add the addons? 1) Unpack workshop. 2) Rez the tiger on the ground. 3) Wear Workshop hud 4) Then wear on the addons you want to load into the Workshop menu. 4) Drag and drop addons from the Workshop menu to "skin" tab or "front deco" tab for the ears. Wizarding Faire: The Trouble with Doyle

STORYLINE: There are many kinds of aspersing witches and wizards at Hogwarts. But there were none quite like Doyle. Popular with a burning desire to be the best, he landed easily in House Slytherin. Everything seemed to be going his way when his grades began to slip. He was in real danger of failing. He stopped going to events and parties. He disappeared often, and spoke to no one. The headmaster of Slytherin had enough, he searched all hidden corners of Hogwarts before finally discovering a sad and frustrated Doyle, alone in the tower trying over and over to cast a spell right. ...You see, spells require concentration, and an exact recital. Change any word, or any order of an incantation, and horrible things could happen. In fact, there floating over Doyle's shoulder was a baby Dementor. The headmaster gasped. He never knew such a thing was even possible! Troubled, his eyes darted to the spellbook in Doyle's hand. And then, he suddenly realized what happened. “Doyle, are you dyslexic?”

It's finally here! Grab your broom and race to the Wizarding Faire 2021, it opens today and runs until August 21st. The image above was inspired by the tiny pet Dementor by Hopscotch, HotDog Cape, the richly detailed Mage decor items by DRD, and a little bit of my childhood experience Dyslexia. The Dementor you can wear and it will hover over your shoulder. The Cape comes in rigged sizes for small, medium, and tall, and also includes an unrigged version. It also has a hud with a few poses you can trigger to work with the cape. I am a huge capes fan, I love this. The Skull Wand is by the team of Skellybones and Star Sugar. It has several built in animations you can trigger by touching it. Nice animations for wands too. The Spellbook by KitCat also comes with a wand and an animations. You click the hud and choose a fun spell to prank your friends, like give them a fit of giggles. lol The Mage Den decor by Death Row is a delight to look at with so many fun details. I especially love the table with crystal magic. Very cool. From over at Midnight Order, I have three super cool items that work well together for the gothy inclined men, the Nocturne Arms by Wicca, Hot Dog broken glasses, and Mitore outfit by AsteriodBox. The Armwarmers have a nice texture hud to change the colors to fit any outfit. The Broken Glasses are by Hotdog come in 3 different metallic colors. And the Mitore outfit fatpack also includes a hud to switch round the colors all you want. The thigh high boots are also built into the pants. If you want a grittier version, there is a side texture pack you can get at the event.

The Engine Room: Attack on Castle Noctem

STORYLINE: In the frozen wastelands, far from humanity, sat Castle Noctem, the fortress of the Vampire Elders. It was the most precious real estate in all vampiredom for a simple reason that the nights were long, and in deep winter, the sun didn’t rise at all. Being so far removed from their food source was not a problem as most the ancients were asleep. They were guarded 24/7 by the elite Royal Guard. They were outfitted with the latest technology, their armor impervious to daylight. It would be foolish for anyone to dare attack such a heavily fortified castle. So it came as quite a shock when the sirens began to wail. 

Tonight at the Engine Room there will be party and halftime giveaway you won't want to miss! See you there at 2pm - 4pm SLT.

The image above is inspired by the cool Process of Elimination Tannhauser armor. It comes in fits for many mesh bodies, and even digigrade leg for furries too. The texture hud will allow you to switch out the colors to your own preference. Also shown in the badass Val'More Prototype Revolver. It includes fun hold animations like flipping the bullet up and down. It had texture hud for switching the glowing word on the front, metallic color, and if you want to show or hide the crossbow.

The Strange Case of Dr Oliver Paynesworth

Death Row Designs will be delivering another fun gacha and hunt for Halloween this year. The theme this time is Asylum. This is my entry to DRD's the "Join the Family" contest. I brought out one of my favorite asylum dwelling characters. Enjoy. Style Credits below the story.

The Strange Case of Dr Oliver Paynesworth 

(as told by the Admitting Nurse at the Rosewood Asylum)

It had been an ordinary day at the Rosewood Asylum when the town’s respected general practice doctor, Dr Oliver Paynesworth, strolled past me without a word, not even a Hello, and disappeared down the long of hall of Rosewood’s worst behaved residents, otherwise known as the "inmates." Of course I went to fetch him, since we don’t allow visitors to that wing of the asylum. 

I discovered him in the oddest place. He had taken the last room to the right and barricaded the door with the back of a chair so that I could not open it. I looked through the glass peephole and saw him, just sitting in the middle of the room on the floor with a vacant look in his eyes.

“Excuse me Dr Oliver, What are you doing? Is there something wrong?”

He didn’t look at me as he said in a hallow voice, “I am admitting myself. I am a danger to society. Please leave me alone.”

Alarmed, I fetched the director of the Institution. He spoke to the Doctor for some time before he came back out shaking his head. “Nurse, can you please check into this?” He had filled out a form to accept Dr Oliver and wrote that the Dr believed he could kill with a mere thought. He blamed himself for his fiancé’s death after she broke up their engagement. He wanted me to call her doctor to check if the story was true. 

Dr Oliver’s case turned out to be a sad example of the ravages of grief, most likely driven by intense regret that his last words to his fiancé were, "I hope you die." Turns out she had just discovered her diagnosis of terminal cancer and couldn’t bring herself to tell him, so she abruptly broke off their engagement without explanation. We figured after some grief counseling, and revealing the truth of why she ended their relationship, he would return to normal. But sadly, that’s not what happened.

One day we found him in a pool of blood. He had cut off his own legs with exceptional surgical skill. What he used, we have no clue, but it must have been a very large sharp blade. We searched high and low for this dangerous weapon but could never discover where he had hidden it. He was ranting on and on about offering his legs to Death in exchange for bringing his beloved back to life.

He had clearly taken a turn for the worse. 

We were able to stop the bleeding. Once he had recovered, we gave him a wheelchair and fitted him with new prosthetic legs. I think Dr Rosewood held hope he could save his old friend.

As the months passed, Dr Oliver would sit on the floor, not eating, or speaking…. Other "inmates" requested to be transferred away from his unsettling dark aura. Except one. She requested to be moved directly across from him. In truth, she was here because she was in so much pain her family couldn't care for her. She was often yelling across the hall, begging Dr Oliver to kill her. If he heard her, I don’t know. He was covered in dust by then. Cobwebs hung from his eyelashes too. I thought he was long dead and everyone was too scared to go in and check.

But he was not dead.

The morning on the 19th, I discovered front door of the Rosewood Asylum was open. No "inmates" escaped. No, instead they were all yelling, crying, and cowering their rooms. When I reached the last door on the right, it was open. Dr Oliver was gone. There was no sign of him. I checked across the hall and the lady was still locked inside her room. No one entered, but she was clearly dead. White as a sheet. And smiling.

It was creepy. We closed off that cursed wing of Rosewood. No one ever did see Dr Oliver Paynesworth again. The only clue we had as to what became of him was a note left on the floor.

Birth of a Reaper, 1

STORYLINE: A wandering woman in fancy garb stopped dead in her tracks. She had no care that she was in the middle of a busy cobblestone street. She had just seen a frightful sight. There, before the Undertaker's shop was a scary looking man in bonds. "You," she glided towards him. "It's a faint memory, but yes. Yes. I do remember your face. You were dear to me. Why do you look so horrifying? What happened to you? Why are you in chains?" His dazed eyes looked towards her. They flickered like candlelight through the Mutoscope. "I am cursed," he moaned pitifully. "I have committed a terrible sin." As if to demonstrate, he lifted his straightjacketed arms and rattled his chains. She was taken aback. "Well surely, it can't be that bad." She made a gallant effort to sound cheerful and dusted the cobwebs off his shoulder. "Tell me what happened."

It comes with boxers, and fits for the default avatar and The Mesh Project body. In the background is an awesome new release by Death Row, - The Funeral Hearse. It comes in new and old styles. There is a hud to change the textures on seating and the curtains. It's 15 land impact, and loaded with poses for singles, and couples, plus an adult version. The top hat and monocle are from the Death Row outfits gacha from last month's Arcade. The Flourish hair is by Magika, and works great on the guys and under hats. The Flesh Eater teeth are from [ni.Ju]. Horror of the Wastelands

STORYLINE: "Want to play with me?" Nurse Hurtz smiled menacingly. Dirt gulped. Maybe he didn't have broken arm after all, it was just a sprang, right? He turned to leave, but two of Seth's guards blocked his path. He had a really bad feeling about this. He had heard rumors about bizarre medical experiments going on, but he never believed it. Until now.

This set by Death Row is so fun, with this flickering electric plasmas, cathode ray tubes, glowing flasks of goo and gizmos. Each piece from a gacha is mod and low land impact.  There are 2 rares, the operating table, and the black science lab desk. Both rares include lots of poses for single male and female, couples, and adult. Have fun, and try not to create any freaks of nature who might come back for revenge. Boowahahhaaaa *throws the power switch on*

It took me awhile to figure out how to do this one, but once I discovered the ANE Dominatrix boots on sale at ROMP Fresh worked on the guys, I knew exactly what to do! Sebby's got his bitch boots on. lol ... His jacket, shirt, tie and vest are a fantastic new release by Deadwool. You buy a base color, and then the hud that comes with it can change the shirt, handkerchief, and tie textures. The pocketwatch is by House of Rain, and the latex pants by Female Poison worked great here. Sebastian hair by Ayashi, glasses by AIR, skin by Tableau Vivant.

The large couch behind Seb is a new release by Death Row on sale now at We <3 RolePlay. It's 24 land impact, and has 3 zones of poses for single girls and guys, couples, adult mf/ff/mmf/ffm. STORYLINE: The Ghost of Christmas Future was right, something dark had begun. All over London, those who helped the homeless, cared for the disabled, and gave gifts to orphans were being slaughtered one by one. When their remains were found, they appeared like withered husks much older than they really were. Fear gripped the city. Gatherings were cancelled. Policemen patrolled the streets. Some were even scared to give gifts least the serial killer strike them down too. Who could do such a monstrous thing during the season of goodwill, and why?

Today is the last of 2014. I know you guys have been super busy this December, I have been too, but hopefully you have sometime to scoop up the goodies before ringing in the New year. Pictured above from Gothmas by Gaslight are the Eclectica Nightblooms earring, necklace, and rings. Each item is non-rigged mesh so you can get a good fit. The lovely textured Isadora dress is by Senzafine. The non-rigged Elizabeth ankle boots are by Choas, Panic, and Disorder. Yes, I popped some mesh eyes on the zombie girl, it can be done! These are CandyCane by the Chop Shop. The fur wrap is a gacha you can play at Junbug. The hair is Riko by Ayashi. And of course the Zombie girl avatar is included in your viewer.  The dress didn't quite fit her on the upper back, but for image purposes, it worked out for me here.  The house and furniture are part of the Death Row Humbug gacha at the Arcade. It's great for any Victorian scene, and not just for Christmas! STORYLINE: Every few nights, a person in his village would suddenly cry out for help, and before anyone could reach them, they were gone. There would be signs of struggle and the roof of the hut would be shredded. He had enough of the predator terrorizing his village. He would hunt down it, and kill it. The clever flying menace would have been untrackable if not for a drop of blood in the sand every few feet. It would be only a matter of time before he caught up with it.

STORYLINE: She had enough of being scared of bumps in the night, ghosts in her dreams, and being left alone in a dark cold castle. She was not afraid! There was nothing in North Tower, it was merely unsafe. Perhaps it had some crumbling masonry? She grabbed the red key and marched up to the forbidden room. She didn't even pause to reconsider, before she shoved the door open. There, with his back to her the middle of room, stood her husband. He spun around and dropped a goblet in shock. It collided with the cold stone floor. A strange silvery substance splashed out. He was pale and feverish. His hair now a deep metallic blue. "You!" He pointed a long finger at her, "You're just like the rest. Worthless! I told you never come here!" He withdrew his sword, and waved it at her menacingly as he wobbled on his feet. Fresh blood dripped down the blade. She gasped and covered her mouth. "You did this to me! All of you!," he roared. "I traveled the world. No potion too insignificant! No matter what I tried, none of you whores could produce an heir." He grabbed her by the hair and dragged her. She squeaked and tried to loosen his grip. "You're not well, my love! What did you drink? Are you mad from wine?" He threw her on top of a pile of slain women. Who were all these women? What were they doing here? Why are they all killed? The shock was too much, and she fainted. "I was going to keep you, I loved you. I have no need for wives or lovers anymore. There will be no heir. I am the heir, the elixir has made me immortal!" He raised his sword high in the air to strike her down, but before he could deliver the killing blow, he coughed and fell to his knees. He began to vomit violently large volumes of liquid metal. Then the tremors stopped and he lay motionless in a pool of blood, vomit, and mercury.

I hope you all liked my twist to the tale of Bluebeard. Don't forget today is the last day for many great events! From Enchantment is the Good Wife ring. The wraps come in male and female, and several styles and colors. Over at the men's Department is is nice non-rigged mesh hair by Dura. I love the messiness of it. I got the white and tinted it to match the beard and coat. The armor is from The Forge gacha at Fantasy Gacha. Behind Bluebeard are two shocking Enchantment stamp prizes. The Bluebread Bodies by Death Row with a several wives hanging from hooks. This is really nicely done, if you like horror items, don't miss this. Adding more scare to the scene is Unrepentant's Heads on a Rope. Their hair is used to tie them to the rope. You can edit the mesh for tint and scale. .. Well you guys better get busy! STORYLINE: In her arms, her brooding prince forgot his woe. They were happy, and each month he asked if she was with child, but each month the answer was no. His jovial mood began to decline. He was quick to temper. When she suggested he eat oysters, thought to boost male potency, he overthrew the dinner table in a rage, and stormed off. He disappeared for weeks at a time without a word. Each time he came back, she was shocked by how much his hair was increasingly blue. Alone in the dark cold castle for weeks at a time, she began to see shadows moving across the walls. She could swear she heard someone softly crying in the night. An unease grew in the pit of her stomach. Her troubled dreams were plagued with the wife who died. The unfortunate woman was trying to tell her something, but she could not hear what she said.

Kariritaisho returns to BishieStyle to play the Dead Wife of Bluebeard. She wearing an awesome skin by La Petite Morte that I think every Gothic girl in SL needs to run get. It has wonderful red darkness around the eyes for the perfect Burtonish gothic look. Her hair is a wonderful Clawtooth Poseidon's Gal style that works great for mermaids, ghosts, hanging upside down, zero-g, or headbanging. lol In her back is a gorey hook with tattoo that will raise the hair on your arms, and slit across her throat. Both are Enchantment Prizes by La Petite Morte. The Fatima Dress by Pixicat is fantastic and can you believe, also a Enchantment prize? The dress comes with a texture change hud to switch out the upper and lower layers of the dress. Click the enlargement and check out that raised embroidery on the dress trim, nice materials magic! And I love the noose around her neck for a neckline, very clever. Her eyes are Bluebeard's Revenge by the Chop Shop, another great prize. In the surrealistic background is a giant editable key necklace by Death Row wrapped around the oversized Tea.s' Chateau de Barbe-Bleue tower and candle holder.  Run go get the goodies, gang! The Baron Samedi

STORYLINE: The shaken schoolgirl was now cursed with the ability to see spirits. It was the price she paid for entering their realm. Still, she hoped the curse would end. She took a different route home to avoid the Possessed Doll. As she passed the outskirts of the US Air Force base, she saw a horrific plane crash. She was glad the pilot safely parachuted down. But something was not right about the strange man in a tuxedo and top hat who stood on the runway without a care. When the firetruck passed right through him, she knew for sure it was a ghost. No sooner had she thought that, then the dark man's head jerked in her direction. He waved his hand, she felt a swoosh of air, then she suddenly found herself in a swamp in some far away place. This ghost must be powerful, she thought. He spoke English, but she could understand him. "A child sees things not meant to be seen. The Baron can not allow this." He handed her a bottle with hot peppers decorating its label. "One drink from that, Cheri, and the walking nightmare will be at end."

I'm thrilled about the theme for this round of the Fantasy Collective, the Swamp! Finally a theme that's closer to home. I live in swampy area and often visit the New Orleans/Baton Rouge areas. Naturally, I am wild for Baron Samedi too, having done a lot of research him for a story. When I saw this badass Baron hat and hair by Tableau Vivant, I did a happy dance! It comes in a male and female version, each hat slightly different. The girl's has a rose and the guy's a cross. The hair is separate from the hat. Going with a witch doctor theme, Death Row has a stunningly cool witchdoctor mask that is perfect for a spooky swamp. It has a matching staff complete with little bottles and a voodoo doll. Over on the Coffin Shelf by Noctis, is the top hat on the skull by Sweet Lies gacha. I won the rare which comes with a texture change hud. Next to it is another gacha from Fantasy Collective, the Shrunken Head Potion Canteen by Eskimo Fashion. The bone necklace the Baron is wearing is part of the BOOM set that includes a Baron mask. The masks come in several colors. For today, the Baron wears his signature dark shades. The sunglasses by Kumaki are perfect for him, they even have skulls on the side. Holding his voodoo dolls or potions is the handy Hipster Bag by Remarkable Oblivion. It's on sale at FaMESHed and comes in 3 different colors. You can resize it with a menu on the x,y,z. From Totally Top Shelf is this awesome fitted mesh snake! YES! There are 4 styles, and each one comes with a texture hud to change your precious snakeypoo's colors. This picture was taken on the Madpea's Green Mire sim. If you do thier side hunt for Evil Bunny, you will score green bunny slippers and a green bunny shoulder pet. You until the 31st to do the hunt.

The Dark Circus has come to RMK Gothic! You can find this cute new area to explore in the garden near Theater Chain. Pictured above is Rokumeikan's kodona/ouji style Harlequin in monocolor (there is a rare red version also). It's an outfit for girls, but I am playing up the boyishness here. It's from the new Straw Hat gacha. You can find it at Castle Rokumeikan. The skin I'm wearing is a fun vampire skin for girls by Dead Apples available on sale at We <3 Role Play. I love the hint of blood on the lips and if you open the mouth, you can see bloody teeth too. I added a past free fangs from [ni.Ju] and tinted them to match. The pierrot eye makeup is part of Carousel Black outfit from Likka House. The hairstyle is brand new from Ayashi. This style is so nice for the guys! Pastel color lover take note, Ayashi has introduced a new color palette called Summer. In the picture of the Harlequin outfit below, you can see the cute Batwing backpack by Tartcake. I picked up at Project Limited. The adorable dollstyle creepers are by BOOM. They were at the May round of Collabor88, and now you get them at the BOOM mainstore.
