Somewhere Over the Rainbow...

STORYLINE: Dorothy was forever changed by her childhood visit to Oz. It was considered a miracle she escaped the tornado with only a bump to the head and a scar to the face. She had long ago accepted her memories of Oz were dreams triggered by head trauma. Never-the-less, she was determined to bring a little magic of Oz to Kansas. She studied agriculture to learn how to revitalize parched land. To brighten the otherwise dusty landscape, she planted colorful flowers that reminded her of Munchkinland. "Paradise is not a dream," Auntie Em often said, "It's the product of hard work and determination." All seemed to be going well for Dorothy, until the eve of her 18th birthday. Shattering her sense of reality, a yellow brick road slowly formed before her house leading up into the sky.

Harajuku Boy

Once in a while I get a really good challenge that takes me outside my usual comfort zone. This post was inspired by Swagga's Harajuku Boy. Harajuku is a district in Japan where cosplay meets innovative streetwear. It's a great place for people to dress up and hang out with their friends. One Harajuku style that has really taken off is Decora. (It's like the Lisa Frank of fashion styles. lol) It's colorful, youthful, mismatched, and over-the-top in accessories. Basically it turns fashion into a toy, in fact, wearing some toys is a good idea too. lol And it's not just for girls, the guys are rocking this whimsical style too. The Swagga Harajuku Boy shirt, pants, and jewelry are on sale now at Sanarae. You can pick them up in either of the 3 color options for shirts and pants.  Adding a cool J-rock touch to the look is the Mateo hair by Ayashi. I used the wild colors from the Summer pack.  Animated Chainsaw by Nerox is a gacha at the Gacha Garden. From Jian is the delightful Silly Shibes gacha. This little guy will follow you and sit when you sit. He even barks every now and then.  The swagga pants come with a lower leg, but I wanted to add the legwarmers by Krankhaus. They are actually made for Avatar 2, but I was able to make them work. They come with a hud with many excellent and colorful texture options.  From NOMAD is the Tossing Barrels arcade game backpack. It's animated! Very cool. From Neverwish is an older gacha with fun shoes that work great for the Decora. Sometime in the near future, a new 2016 version of the shoes will be released. From Apple May is the bandaid gacha. You can find it at her mainstore in the guys gacha section.  From [ni.Ju] are the face sticker stars gacha, and the group gift metallic nails appliers. Vampire Ballet: Black Souls, Red Petals

STORYLINE: In life, the Kuro twins were child prodigies thrilling audiences with their skillful Cello playing. But those happy times ended when a deranged fan tried to "steal" their talent one limb at a time. Their savior was a well-meaning vampire who heard their cries. He found them dying from their wounds. In one moment more, they and their talent would be lost forever. Thinking quickly, he used his vampiric powers to fuse their broken bodies to stage prop dolls. But the shock was too much for the them. Gone was their spirit. They sat mute, traumatized, as lifeless as the dolls they inhabited. The years passed, but their savior never gave up. He kept them fed with blood drips, wheeled them around, dressed them in the finest clothes. Nothing roused them. Then one day, an idea hit him. Their souls were music, and music would save them the way he never could. 

Today is the last day for The Gathering. Don't miss this cool gacha event with lots of fun fantasy items. Pictured above is the Astralia Bambola gacha. It's a doll theme with wind up keys, key wings, and a special pedestal for your doll that includes nice musicbox poses.  From NeverWish is the Rare Steam Wings Hat. The Sunset Run of Fenni the Frail

STORYLINE: Fennimore was tired of being picked on. He knew how to defend against the Dark Arts, he just wasn't fast enough to deflect. His girlfriend from Hufflepuff suggested he try out for the Ravenclaw Quidditch team. "It will do you good, Fenni. Help improve your reflexes." Grudgingly "Frail" Fenni accepted the Quidditch team's challenge: Deliver a scroll before the sun sets. Of course it's never that easy, the members of the team would do everything possible to distract, throw him, lead him astray, or trap him, whatever it took to stop his Sunset Run. "On our mark..." Fennimore put on his goggles. "...Set"  He tightened his grip on the broom. "... GO!"

The delightful Wizarding Faire has returned to the Mischief Managed RP sim and it's bigger then ever. There are products and gachas to tickle your magical whimsies. Shown above is the new FATEplay Quidditch team outfit for Ravenclaw. You can even get it in blue and silver, or by-the-book blue and yellow. The outfit includes cape, pants, shinpads, sweater, and a flyable broom. It comes in male, female, and child sizes. BUT that's not all! For the first time I have seen in SL is animating clothing! The cape will begin to flap when you fly. (Check out the gif animation of it below.) To the outfit I added the FATEplay dueling gloves. Vampire Ballet: Black Souls, Red Cello

Their savior was a well-meaning vampire who fused their broken bodies to dolls. When the twins awoke, the shock was too much for them. Gone was their spirit. The sat mute, traumatized, as lifeless as the dolls they inhabited. But their savior never gave up. Their souls were music, and music would save them the way he never could. The years passed, then one day he heard a clumsy bow strike the strings of the cello. He was so happy. It was the break through he was hoping for. Slowly with much effort, the twins returned to the world. For their official coming out, they performed at the auditions for the Vampire Ballet. By the time they played their last note, there was not a dry eye, even among the stone cold hearts of the vampire. They got the standing ovation. This year, Kuro Twins would be the featured guests of the Vampire Ballet.

The excellent gothic lolita dress, Black Rose Witch by MelonBunny, I wanted to show you guys so much for RMK Halloween but time ran out on me. The good news is, you can pick it up now at the main store. For the doll, I am wearing the Kemono version but you can also get it in the default avatar size. It comes with dress, bow with skull collar, apron, petticoat, and bat wings. The cello by Souzou Eien is awesome! It comes with a hud to change the wood color, a version for decoration, and one you wear with bow and sit on the stool to trigger poses. It also comes with a badass coffin case that opens and closes and has the cello inside. The hat and cuffs are from the Remarkable Oblivion's Melancholy gacha which you can play at their main store. Ghosts of August, 3

STORYLINE: With her camera and photos confiscated, the schoolgirl left the spirit world empty-handed. Or so she thought. She began to see things: a shadow darted before her, a bright glowing orb in the corner of the room.... She was already on edge as she walked home. She looked up and saw a figure walking precariously along the edge of town's ancient tower wall. It appeared to be a woman who was ridged or maybe drunk. Then suddenly the lady slipped and fell. 

Nice things for Elegant Lolitas to enjoy this month! The new release from Rokumeikan, Attempted Suicide Doll, comes with shirt top, collar, bandages for the arms, skirt, underskirt, checkered stockings, hat, and a parasol with pose. The black and white textures with with stripes is really striking, and I love the nicely textured parasol. The creepy cool forked tongue by DownDownDown you can pick up at Kagami. Touch it and you can change the color to green, mint, blue, black, white, pink and red. It comes with materials for that extra slimly look. lol. DownDownDown also has a creepy super long tongue at Kagami. The tongues are unrigged mesh so you scale them and move them around, no problem. The Jinx hair is a current gift from Truth in pastel colors. It's a perfect Lolita hair. The face band is The Blues Hunt prize from Cubic Cherry. This beautiful doll head is one of several group gifts from DollCoco. These are the past mesh doll heads. The eyes come either fixed or closed.

STORYLINE: Horrified, the schoolgirl screamed and ran toward the lady only to discover it wasn’t a lady at all, -- it was a shattered doll. Its head rocked gently and a forked tongue flicked out of its mouth. Then the doll faded away as if nothing had been there at all. The cycle began again a few moments later when it reappeared to do its awkward waltz on the stone wall.

Trap makes it debut at We <3 Role Play this month. You can scoop up the Raven Wings on sale. They come in four poses and colors Silver/Bronze or White/Black. The DollCoco body was a past group gift from over a year ago. It worked perfectly with the retired doll heads. The old body is very thin and usually needs special clothes designed for it. In order for the doll to wear normal clothes, I removed the upper torso and created a simple prim neck. Wala!

Fashion Week.... Designer's race to make final touches to their collection. Promotional shots are taken. Then the moment arrives. Models prepare as stylist and makeup artists buzz around them. Outside the murmurs of an excited crowd. Cameras poised. The lights dim. The music starts. A breath is held, then the magic begins as the models parade down the runway. This thriving culture isn't limited to the real world, it's in SL too. This week I have been swept up in it and inspired by the hard working designers who bring stylish new looks for the guys. Mens Wear Fashion Week has began! Designer XAIJ's collection has 8 complete outfits with a monochrome theme. Each item comes with a hud that allows you switch around the textures from white, light grey, grey, dark grey, to black. I'm showing in this post Harlem, Utica, and the Bangles. Check out the LookBook of the collection here: http://issuu.com/xiaj/docs/x  Head down to MensWear Fashion Week, and try on the demos. The Suitcases and Breifcases on the ground are a cool gacha by Blvck Anchor at MWFW. They are wearable and trigger a pose. MensWear Fashion Week ends May 3rd.

Let me tell you a little more about this set. I had the idea to build a photographer's studio in New York City in keeping with the NYC theme of MWFW this year. The skybox is by Off Brand Furniture. When you touch the ceiling, you can change the wall and the floor textures, and also the city view from NY daytime to different views of Tokyo. The lights and photographer's backdrop are from Abranimations. The backdrop comes with poses in it which are controlled by a hud. The hud also has the best eye controller in SL! Love it. The lights all work too but I preferred to make my own lighting. The cool dressing room scrims, director's chairs, and fashion rack are from an old House of Fox gacha at a past Arcade. And I very pleased to tell you it's back! (I always wished I had the complete set. Just one more to go....) The camera is from a SAAL gacha. It doesn't appear to be available anymore. Completing the set are the trusses from LUI. They are mesh sections and comes in 4 textures.

The handbag by XIAJ goes great with this XIAJ outfit at MWFW. It's from a gacha you can find at the main store. These awesome shoes by COCO are now free! you can pick them up in olive or black as well other older content goodies at COCO. The mesh gloves by O.M.E.N are on sale at the Men's Department. I'm wearing two different makeups from Lovely Disarray. The Eyeliner from Amazon Trio is very nice, and I love this stripe on the lip in the Ophidian set. The Haruka hair by Argrace is now located at the main store. Necklace Kotowari once more by Mandala but this time the short length version. Many good things to talk about in this image. First is this is a truly beautiful male mesh Ball Joint Doll avatar by Coco. The figure uses default avatar's rigging, so you can edit the shape to suit your taste, or try to make it fit in normal mesh clothes like I did above. The rigged boots by Lassitude and Ennui are a perfect match for DollCoco's size. The elegant boot pant from Tableau Vivant also works perfectly. The rich cool red quilted tunic by the Muses is on sale over at We Love Role Play right now. For the waist, I combined two belts: the mesh kilt belt by A:S:S and one of my favorite belts by Sey. I get many compliments on this demon blindfold by BjD, it's just so badass. It comes with a color hud. The wings are by Illusions, they can texture change and come with spread wings too. Double the fun with Magika using two hairs to create romantic elfish style. The katana sword has materials and is free from BareRose. The surreal Donkeys are from Medieval Fantasy Hunt at United InshCon. And get this, they actually poop gold. That's right, you will be wanting to feed these babies a lot of hay, a better quality hay gives you better bullions. *makes jokes* lol  The skybox is in the Midsummer's Night Dream theme with paintings of the play. Tableau Vivant has released a new mesh pant at FaMESHed that is a modern revision of the Hakama Tattsuke. Put it together with the new raffle prize Katana Claw at BareRose, and the Fantasy Hunt Wolf Eyes and makeup By Snow, and you get a Wolfie Ninja. He reminds me a bit of my favorite character from Naruto, "The Pervy Sage" Jiraiya. lol. The tattoo is from Batsu and on sale at Femboy Fashion Fair.
