STORYLINE: A wandering woman in fancy garb stopped dead in her tracks. She had no care that she was in the middle of a busy cobblestone street. She had just seen a frightful sight. There, before the Undertaker's shop was a scary looking man in bonds. "You," she glided towards him. "It's a faint memory, but yes. Yes. I do remember your face. You were dear to me. Why do you look so horrifying? What happened to you? Why are you in chains?" His dazed eyes looked towards her. They flickered like candlelight through the Mutoscope. "I am cursed," he moaned pitifully. "I have committed a terrible sin." As if to demonstrate, he lifted his straightjacketed arms and rattled his chains. She was taken aback. "Well surely, it can't be that bad." She made a gallant effort to sound cheerful and dusted the cobwebs off his shoulder. "Tell me what happened."

The top hat and monocle are from the Death Row outfits gacha from last month's Arcade. The Flourish hair is by Magika, and works great on the guys and under hats. Headhunters of Danger Island

STORYLINE: Every year vacationers flock to the South Pacific to relax among the swaying palm trees and crashing waves on white sand beaches. But not every island relishes tourists. Islands like "Danger" got their name by honest means. The natives of Danger Island would rather stick a head on a pole than a little parasol in a Pineapple Daiquiri. Some places just aren't worth loosing your head over. 

The Arena is back! For those new to The Arena, it's A Male Only Fantasy Event produced by the same folks behind the wonderful Fantasy Gacha. There are lots of cool new original fantasy creations just for the guys, don't miss it!  Shown above is the Headhunter kit by Swagga. Oh, by the way, Notice anything new? *flexes muscles*

I got a new toy, the Niramyth Aesthetic Mesh body. It's available as a trial until the full release some time in the future. It's fitted mesh, comes with a matching head, 2 skin tones (for mesh and default avatar), a skin tint hud with alphas for the body, a mocap AO, eyes, several hand pose options, body and face hair options, and clothing layer jeans and tank tops with a bonus developer kit for tattoo and clothing. It will take Omega appliers for clothing but not skin since Niramyth has a different UV map then the default avatar. You can detach the upper or lower parts to fit regular clothing, and there are mesh clothing items coming out that are shaped to fit it's body. There is no demo since it's still under development. Updates will be send to all who buy the trial.  ... Another interesting thing I found is tattoos can be full bright and glow. Nails can be tinted darker. The skin has materials to enhance the veins and texture. It's a beautifully created mesh body with attention to detail and realism. I do have one complaint however, the skin. It's amazingly detailed but has a flaw of excessive contrast, imho. (by that I mean the shadow areas are too dark and it creates a "dirty" look especially sides of the torso and on the lower legs which are much darker then the upper body). I found adding a tint to the body helps tone down the brightness of the highlights. That means best looking skintones start at medium and go darker. Fantasy colors really look great. But sadly, there are no possibilities for vampire or an undead look, its just too dark for that. However, the good news is there will be skin add-ons you can buy in the future, and even new mesh heads. (I hope there will be 3rd party skin appliers too.) To get my Tableau Vivant skin to match the Niramyth body I used a lot of fancy tricks like: tinting the mesh body darker, adding to the face tattoo shadow, a tattoo skin tint, eye makup, and then highlights for the face and lips. ... Also, You can wear the The Mesh Project Head with the Niramyth body, however I found it far more difficult to match the skins between the head and body.

While chatting on plurk, pose maker Olaenka wondered how the different male bodies would pose. So I did a pose test. Shown above are straight no-frills screen caps of my character in: the Default male, The Mesh Project male, and the Niramyth male. The Circus Contortionist poses for the pose test are provided by oOo Studio.

UPDATE: I emailed the designer of Niramyth Aesthetic Mesh body with some questions. Here are his replies:

1) Will there be 3rd party skin appliers? 

    We are trying to finished up the system of the first version body (Enzo and Smith) then we will provide the "complete" devkit for HD-skin (HD-skin is what we call our skin template) for skin designers and modders to work on skin appliers for our bodies. We are going to make normal size body with less muscularity look and they all will share the same skin template as the current version body.

2) Or will there be a pale option for vampire/undead/japanese style? (and how long is the wait?)

    That could be possible. If the body is finished then the extra skins will not take long. I think I can make that in a week or couple weeks (after the devkit is finished) but it will not be only me to be able to make it.

3) Will new mesh heads include expressions? (Men desperately need an expressive male mesh head.)

    That could be possible as well but it will need little more time to develop it and it will not be a free update because it is a completely new story than the mesh body.

The Retro Game Adventure 2

STORYLINE: The sender of the email claimed to be a character inside the game he had been seeking. She insisted he rescue her before it was too late. There were only a few copies left of her in the world. A vicious hacker was determined to destroy her!

My friends Kariritaisho and Mystina were so good to say yes when I asked for their help blogging Retro Games. It was tricky to coordinate three people's schedules, and LevelUp has now ended. Nevertheless, we all wanted to continued on with this idea for the series. Items shown here should be in the mainstores or added soon. Thanks guys! You can reach this level by taking the teleport near the bunnies at the main landing. Just be sure to accept all the experience keys when you land. STORYLINE: Of course Dino didn't believe a word of it. I mean, seriously? A game character is alive and claims a hacker is destroying all copies of the game? It made no sense. But, it was true the game was damn hard to find. Dino didn't know what to think about this, but since he had nothing better to do for a few hours, he followed her link and logged in as his favorite character, Lina the Guardian of Helios. Who knew what strange things might happen next? Maybe if he was lucky, he would finally get a copy of the game, right?

Kariritaisho is modeling several cute Link-like goodies from BluPrintz, the tunic, boots, and the weapons are part of a gacha. Her hair is Mario Hair by Ayashi. It comes with a Mario hat you wear or hide. The Graham's Adventure Cap is by Unrepentant and comes in 5 different colors. You mod it and scale it for the best fit. Her bunny sidekick is part of the Electrobit City sim. Just touch a bunny and he will ask if he can attach to you. Say yes, and you have a new pet who will follow you around. Cute.

STORYLINE: Fennimore didn't know he was being followed. He was so engrossed in his own thoughts, when a real attack hit him he was caught completely unprepared. He attempted to return fire but it was too late. Fennimore spent the afternoon chasing mice in the library and licking his fur. He missed the final exam.

Are these new mesh hands by Slink great or what? Finally some badass claws, and I can paint my nails whatever color too. Thank you! The skin I am wearing is gorgeous new release Lucis by Tableau Vivant. There are no male hand and feet SLink appliers yet, but I am hoping Tableau Vivant will come out with some. The ears and tail are by Magika. It comes in all colors so it's not problem to match hair and Neko parts. The raven on my shoulder is one of the fun prizes rotating at the Sarcastic lucky board. Summer Double Feature: Femboy Hunt + Genre Lolita

STORYLINE: He could hardly believe it. The prettiest girl at Anime High said yes to a date with him. Not having any better sense, he took her to his favorite place in the world. It was a rundown movie theater deep in Pack territory. All the best werewolf movies could be found there, even B-movies long forgotten. He was completely obvious when she blurted, "This place smells like wet dog," and kicked a half-chewed bone littering the floor as if it were made of toxic waste. He was in heaven. Today's showing was, "Curse of the Blood Moon," followed by "Tyrannosaurus Rex vs The Hellhound of Dracula." During the horrific climax of the movie, she screeched and clung to his arm with a iron grip surprising from someone so delicate looking. It was awesome. If he had a badass tail like Satan Sliverclaw, it would be wagging like mad. When he asked her for a second date, she said yes, but she would pick where they go next time.

I laughed so hard on this copy. ...Ok, let me tell you a little bit about this image. We are both wearing the new mesh anime head by Utilizator. It comes with a hud to change eye colors and emotes for eyebrow, tears, eyes, mouth, and blush. You can use the hud to change skin, brow, and eye textures. It's a lot of fun for girls, but tricky for a guy to pull off. I combined it with the mesh male body from U & A. It's super skinny so I used my own shape to tweak how I liked. The skin texture is full perm which it made it possible for me to create alpha textures. I know my way around UVmaps and Photoshop so this was easy for me, but it could be difficult for others. I have really warmed up now to the idea of wearing a mesh body. It's so nice to have hands and feet that look better then the default avatar. The hair I picked up during the Magika sale. My lovely date here loves the Utilizator female mesh body but for more clothing options, she matched the mesh head to a skin by Fortunata. She loves long hair. When I saw the hair by Enigma at Hair Fair, I knew she would go crazy for it. The hair comes with all colors, and 30% of sales goes to Wigs for Kids. Her dress by Kastle Rock currently on sale for 100L at Genre's July theme Summer Lolita. I am wearing a fun Femboy Summer Hunt prize from Sugarnova. Many good things to talk about in this image. First is this is a truly beautiful male mesh Ball Joint Doll avatar by Coco. The figure uses default avatar's rigging, so you can edit the shape to suit your taste, or try to make it fit in normal mesh clothes like I did above. The rigged boots by Lassitude and Ennui are a perfect match for DollCoco's size. The elegant boot pant from Tableau Vivant also works perfectly. The rich cool red quilted tunic by the Muses is on sale over at We Love Role Play right now. For the waist, I combined two belts: the mesh kilt belt by A:S:S and one of my favorite belts by Sey. Gin by Asaria is a wonderful male angel shape created for the female base. Often when trying to explain the Japanese Bishonen style, encyclopedias will say the Western equivalent is an angel. (Seems ironic I have never tried to make an angel before since bishie style in my usual stomping ground. lol I had fun piecing together my own spin on an angelic fashion.)
