Level Up Action Adventure

Level Up's current round Action Adventure ends soon. I love this great Kingdom Heart inspired set by Swagga. You can get the pants in either red, blue, or grey. It's fitted mesh and comes with classic default avatar fit, and The Mesh Project body fit. The shoes are non-rigged mesh and come in yellow or red. The Heartmore shoulder pet is a gacha, as well as the Keyblade. The Keyblade will draw and trigger a hold animation.

The Ball Joint Doll style male mesh head is by Raven Bell. It has a hud with emotions for eyebrow, eye position, and mouth opens. It blinks automatically. The head set also includes a shape, skin, and eyes sets. I used the Kakurenbo BJD skin visual kei applier for the head. The skin tone didn't really match the TMP body so it worked out great to use the Tableau Vivant Merrick cape to hide from sins on the neckline. lol The crop top is by A:S:S and weapons harness is a gacha by Dark Prophet Designs.

The image above is taken at the home of the Moles, SL's Department of Public Works. It's a beautiful mesh build. Remember the Lumenaria build from Fantasy Faire 2013? That's the one! I'm so happy to see this awesome build back in SL and put to good use.

A Tattered Page [*citation needed] is a brand new event from the Cursed crew. Designers create items from their own imagination inspired by words from the selected novel for that round. (That means no styles or ideas taken from movie, TV shows, plays, comics or other adaptions.) I love this concept. It's true, when reading a novel, an image is created in the mind of the reader. Each person's inner visualization is unique to them. For the first round,  Mary Shelley's gothic novel classic, Frankenstein was picked. Contrary to all the many Hollywood versions of the story, the original is very different. It's been wonderful to see what all the designers came up with. Each item comes with a quote from Frankenstein that inspired the item (that's the *citation needed part of the event). The event runs from November 7-November 30th. This is a store to store hop, just look for the Tattered Page display in each store. This post was inspired by Dingy and wonderfully descriptive moment in the book selected by Roawenwood. The Broken Melancholia Dinghy will not be sold like this again after the event ends, it's an exclusive. The boat comes in scripted, and unscripted versions, 2-4 land impact. Wow, this was such a hard shot to do. I hope you guys like it. Dr Frankenstein is wearing a cool late-Regency / Early Victorian outfit by Avatar Bizarre. It's one piece with coat and pants, and also includes hat, shoes, and cravat. You can choose from many colors, and one of the colors is an exclusive. I love this ring so much! It's the Wedding Night ring by Bliensen + MaiTai for Tattered Page. The black color version is an exclusive to the event. You can get it in gemstones blue, red, green, or purple, and either black skeleton hands or ivory. It's mod so you can adjust it for a good fit. This angsty pose, The Night, is by NanTra. It worked great here for Victor's conflicted feelings. Adding movement for underwater is the Ken Urei hair by Argrace. This wonderful Rays Mort Vivant Shadow pale skin tone by Tableau Vivant is on sale at the Xiasumi School Festival. It includes appliers for hands and feet. I love the details around the eyes and the highlight on the nose. To match the pale skintone, I used the Fingernail Naturals freebie gift from A:S:S. I love the Winter eyes by S0NG, I picked up the green ones recently. Below the surface is a set I built using the Kelp by Aley and MeadowWorks. With all this nice yummy seagrass laying around, I could not resist letting momma manatee and baby from Aqua Shop Gonbe roam around in it. It's manatee heaven down there afterall. lol You can see them hiding in the seagrass on the lower left side.

The Baron Samedi

STORYLINE: The shaken schoolgirl was now cursed with the ability to see spirits. It was the price she paid for entering their realm. Still, she hoped the curse would end. She took a different route home to avoid the Possessed Doll. As she passed the outskirts of the US Air Force base, she saw a horrific plane crash. She was glad the pilot safely parachuted down. But something was not right about the strange man in a tuxedo and top hat who stood on the runway without a care. When the firetruck passed right through him, she knew for sure it was a ghost. No sooner had she thought that, then the dark man's head jerked in her direction. He waved his hand, she felt a swoosh of air, then she suddenly found herself in a swamp in some far away place. This ghost must be powerful, she thought. He spoke English, but she could understand him. "A child sees things not meant to be seen. The Baron can not allow this." He handed her a bottle with hot peppers decorating its label. "One drink from that, Cheri, and the walking nightmare will be at end."

I'm thrilled about the theme for this round of the Fantasy Collective, the Swamp! Finally a theme that's closer to home. I live in swampy area and often visit the New Orleans/Baton Rouge areas. Naturally, I am wild for Baron Samedi too, having done a lot of research him for a story. When I saw this badass Baron hat and hair by Tableau Vivant, I did a happy dance! It comes in a male and female version, each hat slightly different. The girl's has a rose and the guy's a cross. The hair is separate from the hat. Going with a witch doctor theme, Death Row has a stunningly cool witchdoctor mask that is perfect for a spooky swamp. It has a matching staff complete with little bottles and a voodoo doll. Over on the Coffin Shelf by Noctis, is the top hat on the skull by Sweet Lies gacha. I won the rare which comes with a texture change hud. Next to it is another gacha from Fantasy Collective, the Shrunken Head Potion Canteen by Eskimo Fashion. The bone necklace the Baron is wearing is part of the BOOM set that includes a Baron mask. The masks come in several colors. For today, the Baron wears his signature dark shades. The sunglasses by Kumaki are perfect for him, they even have skulls on the side. Holding his voodoo dolls or potions is the handy Hipster Bag by Remarkable Oblivion. It's on sale at FaMESHed and comes in 3 different colors. You can resize it with a menu on the x,y,z. From Totally Top Shelf is this awesome fitted mesh snake! YES! There are 4 styles, and each one comes with a texture hud to change your precious snakeypoo's colors. This picture was taken on the Madpea's Green Mire sim. If you do thier side hunt for Evil Bunny, you will score green bunny slippers and a green bunny shoulder pet. You until the 31st to do the hunt.

Before I answer the Meme questions, I want to point out two great items for guys and girls at Dark Style Fair. The event ends June 7th so hurry over to pick up the goodies! The Compass Tech Muffler I am wearing from Contraption fits in a wonderfully mysterious way. It's perfect to hide behind when you've been sloppy in your feeding habits. Boowahahahaha. Little Lolita is modeling the fitted mesh Bat Corset from Violent Seduction. The corset has cute bat bows in the front and back. It comes in black, blue, candy, green, ice, lavender, leaf, mint, peach, purple, red, teal, or white and each color has it's own complete color change hud.

Each time Berry's What's your Digits Meme comes around I take the time to reevaluate my shapes. It's a good exercise to do, especially for tweaking proportions. This Meme helped create the standard sizes thanks to Wisdom of the Crowd averaging. Using the standards eliminated the quirks in my shapes mostly for the better, while I still maintain my ideal Bishonen proportions. ...Now I have a confession to make. I switch shape and even tweak shape for clothing, or pose, on almost every image I do. My digits can vary greatly so it doesn't make sense to list my digits ranges. But I can say this, my main avatar above, which I wear when I am not blogging, uses a standard size medium and clocks in between 7' 8" (234 cm) and 8' (244 cm). For the girls shown on the blog, I've taken over that duty from Fulli. She might be back in the future, but for now I'm carrying the load. My girl shapes are all over the map too as I hunt for the right tone. I'm still trying to find my way around the girl dials. lol Little Lolita above is becoming one of my favorites. She wears a size extra small and stands without heels at 6' 4" (193 cm). ...yeah, maybe not so little Lolita. lol  Just for comparison, here is what my guy and girl avatars looked like back in May of 2012.

Have you tried any of the new fitted mesh avatars released by Linden Lab? What do you think of them? What are your thoughts about Fitted mesh?

Yes, all the vampires series ones! They are fun, nicely made, and a joy to clown around in. The normal series avatars however are harder to love because the faces don't have expressions, or have eyes that blink and move. It puts me in the Uncanny Valley and it feels like wearing a costume rather than inhabiting an avatar. The vampire series doesn't have that problem because they aren't trying to be realistic, they are costumes.  Fitted mesh clothing is great when it's well crafted. It makes it possible to convert girl clothes to femboy on the female base (that means no breasts or wide hips, and broader shoulders). This is a tomboy shape with fitted mesh I did here.

1. Have you tried any fitted mesh avatars/bodies created by residents?

Yes. I tried the demos for 3rd party fitted mesh for girls. The WowMeh had been the front runner for the ladies, but it's currently being reviewed by Linden Labs and not for sale. The Fitted Mesh Body Warz are just beginning too, Slink and Belleza girls are rumored to be in development right now. Of all the currently released fitted mesh girl shapes, the one I like the best is Chip Midnight's CMFF girl. It's not a fetish shape, it's Girl Next Door, and it wears existing hair and mesh in standard sizes. You can choose to wear the head or not, and use premade alphas, or create your own with his applier app. Basically, it's built to be modded. It aims to eliminate the need for slink attachments. The feet work with a rotation for the different heel heights. And the good news is Chip will be releasing a fitted male avatar at some point. I'm sure it will come after most the bugs and issues are worked out on the female first. As far as fitted mesh for the guys, that's the only one I know of in development. There a several male mesh bodies, but they are currently not fitted mesh. p.s Utilizator's Kemono has just released, it's not fitted mesh but selling like hotcakes. It has a neko twist to his anime girl Avatar2 shape and M3 Head.

2. Have you tried a mesh head? What are your thoughts about mesh heads?

Yes. Because I don't think of any girl shapes as "me' I'm not bothered at all by wearing a female mesh head. I got the Slink Becky head for the expressions but I have a few problems with it. 1) I need an option either add an alpha to the eyelashes or turn them off for photography. It's brilliant the eyelashes can blink but also means the lashes need to be solid for mesh switching animation. Those solid mesh eyelashes tend to photograph poorly, so photo only option to hide them or add an alpha to them would be great. 2) The ear hole is too large. I would love to have mesh head without ears or holes where the ears were when I add a mesh ear attachment. 3) The teeth are beautiful but really darkly textured. 4) Emma won on the mesh head contest and most appliers work for her instead of Becky. So the Becky have tends to have the eyebrows too high for her face which creates a startled look. ...  I would love to see more expressive mesh heads. That's a key selling point to me. ... My favorite mesh head for girls is Nea by SnowRabbit. I just love seeing this pretty face inworld, in the blogs, or on flickr. It's brilliantly made and lifelike. She randomly smiles and blinks. There is zero Uncanny Valley about her. The only trade off is you lose your identify when you use a mesh head. You will look exactly like any other person using it. But there is another mesh head that DOES have slider adjustments! It's the new mesh head by Yabusaka. You adjust the sliders in an app, then have your custom mesh head uploaded to SL. You can play with Mesh Studio Head demo here. The new male demo version is here. As far as a mesh head for guys, my favorite by far is DollCoco Male. He doesn't have expressions but he's so nicely made. With some tweaks you can wear your own eyes with him, or even your own shape, but I recommend keeping your shape skinny to better match the head. My main avatar's old skin also matches DollCoco male perfectly.

3. Do you foresee a lot of changes to our current Second Life avatars because of fitted mesh?

Yes. We will eventually make the switch to amazingly well made fitted mesh avatars. Perhaps as soon as a year from now they will be the new standard in SL. Why? Because they are nicer looking, and it will make posing and photography so much better. But when it comes to mesh heads, people will be resistant because it's takes away their individuality. So that brings us right back to the serious need for Linden Labs to update the default avatar, because it's the only one with facial sliders and emotions. We can replace everything else with fitted mesh, but not the head. Really, it could be as simple as just converting the head to higher resolution quads, removing as many triangle poles as possible, and making new morphs for the sliders (that includes less cartoony emotes), and keeping the UV maps the same.

World Goth Fair: Officially Licensed Band Hoodies!

Happy World Goth Day gang! There are news stories all over the net about it, parties are going on in major cities, and very close to the epicenter of this growing holiday is SecondLife. Yes, you read that right. Because one of the founders, DJ Cruel Britannia, also spins the tunes here in SL at Club Gothika. Something truly special is going on. The real and cyber have merged and compliment each other. People who love gothic music and fashion but don't have a local club to go to or a concert to attend, can meet up with like-minded folks from all over the world and celebrate together live in virtual space. Earlier in the day, goth celebrity Raziel Panic, of You Shriek, dropped by Club Gothika. Yesterday Jasyn Bangert, of God Module welcomed everyone to SL's World Goth Fair in a short Youtube clip. JP Shea, of the JesusClever, returns this year to celebrate with everyone on WGD. This morning CruxShadows gave a shoutout of the good things going on at WGF raise money for S.O.P.H.I.E. Last Friday, Jordon Reyne performed live at WGF and donated her tips to S.O.P.H.I.E. What better to celebrate World Goth Day than meeting with your Goth friends from all around the world, listening to music, and opening up all those cool band hoodie bags? -^

In the top image I am wearing the band hoodie with the S.O.P.H.I.E logo on upper right side. The wonderful Urban Voodoo necklace by Scrubs is available at Dark Style Fair, and you can get it in silver, bronze or gold. It comes with a x,y,z resize script. The cheek piercing by HV are one part of a set for men. When you touch the stone, you can change it to several different jewel tones, I used crystal. The headphone and blindfold are from a Fantasy Gacha by {anc}. The blindfold was a perfect fit. I tinted it darker, and then hid the more feminine upper part of the headphone set. The war paints and second set of piercings are by Haus of Darcy. You can pick them up for 45L at We <3 Role Play. Hairstore Scars is back inworld. I was able to scoop up a few style I was missing such as this one, Last. In the lower image, you can see the cargo shorts I am wearing by Kio. They fit on both girls and guys, come in standard sizes, and one with a deformer for female rear and hip size. My undershirt is by K!ng, my favorite fishnet/skull stocking are by Erratic. On my head is Stella, the limited edition plushie bat from HorrorFest, but you can pick up the normal colors at silentsparrow's main store. My nails are by Dark Passion's Greyscale Koffin Nails you can pick up World Goth Fair. For Bat Blogger Aarya's style card, you can find it on her blog: Dark Phantom. In the center of the picture is a wonderfully dark cake by Aftershok. It's a 100% donation to S.O.P.H.I.E and you find it on World Goth Fair Port Seraphine sim. At the foot of the purple chair is an adorable Bat plushie by Chaos, Panic, and Disorder. There are several theme plushie bat you can pick up such is winter, steampunk, and robot at WGF. The fun coffin holder for my Vampire Vintage wine is by Aphrodite. When you touch the lid, it slides all horror movie-like and then in local chat it makes a boast about its superb quality. Too fun. Touch the bottle and you get these great skeleton hand wine goblets. This was part of a set at HorrorFest that I lost my mind over and had to have it all. lol I don't know if the gacha is still available, but I gave a link the main store in the credits below. The giant cartoony bat and the two cute Bunnicula are by the power duo Beetlebones and OhMai. They were prizes from of the brilliant Nuville inworld theme park. Chairs by Trompe Loeil, one of them is tinted purple. This gorgeous skybox has become my new home. I love it! It was part of a Facebook Like gift offer from Trompe Loeil, but if you missed it, don't worry. You can these wonderful all mesh skyboxes at the mainstore for 250L in light or dark. They come with materials, projector lights, and it has a low land impact.

The Charlie outfit by Zanze is adorable and I could not resist to show you guys. You can wear this style as a schoolboy, or dressed up for summer. I added the bowtie with spikes by Zanze. It comes with a color hud to add tints. The hair is a great new style by Damselfly at the Fantasy Gacha. It opens May 4th. The glasses are by Gos and you can wear them as glasses like I did here, or shades. Just touch the glasses and change the frame, shealth, lens color and opacity. I finally got a chance to use these DECO wingtip shoes, they work great for a bookish look here. The nails are a free polish you can find at the new location of A:S:S. STORYLINE: He was an A.N.G.E.L., part of an elite force of guardians protecting the Eden, people who were free from all genetic engineering and cyberization. These untainted people were the most valuable things on Earth. His job was an extremely dangerous one. But his motives for doing it were not exactly noble. You see, he was just protecting his food supply. Good old fashioned humans were a rare thing in 2065. A vampire can't live on a cyborg's "transistor fluid," or bite the neck of a disgusting horseshoe crab blueblood freak either. The blood needed to be pure human, not glow-in-the-dark human jellyfish juice.

The awesome folks at Cursed have brought to you a new event, FutureWave with the goal of showing designers' own vision of the future. The results are amazing with many different styles of the future, and even some retro! The sim is a cool cyber city in the sky in black and cyan. Club Gothika mobile unit has moved to the cyber city it's DJs of Goth will be there rocking your moonboots.

STORYLINE: He was on his way to escort an Eden to a new safehouse when a Bounty Hunteress, dressed like a A.N.G.E.L., got the jump on him. (To see this storyline from the Bounty Huntress' point of view, go to Aarya's Dark Phantom blog. She has great coverage on FutureWave for the girls. It was fun to team up once more on an event, Blogger Powers Activate! -^)

To appreciate this outfit you have to see the moving parts. The Devine wings by Death Row flap. They can be turned on or off as well as adjust the speed. Tempest Dragons by DiGi circle around you and you can tint them whatever color you like. The halo animates too and is part of a cyber angel set by Amelie Barbour that's completely free! Don't miss the also cool cyber typing effect by Amelie Barbour, it's free too.  My mask is from the Blue Falcon gacha. Very cool and only 50L a spin. The jaw attachment is by Death row and comes in several colors: mono, bluesteel, toxic, and steel. The outfit by Blue Falcon Industries is actually system clothing layers, but it's so nicely made and even works on male and female! I like it a lot! The Tinker Taylor boots are by Miamai. There are two base styles, one clean like I wearing above, and one with straps and gold buckles. When you wear these boots you need to make your leg muscle standard size medium or lower. I am wearing the WarmIndustrialWristBracer by STONE Baubles for Men from Final Fantasy Fest once more. It just comes in so handy, and I could tint the metal parts to give it a cyber look. The skull gloves are by A:S:S and come in full length and fingerless. My Galaxy nails are amazing. They're by Beautiful Freaks. I will be wearing them a lot because they look so cool, and work great for men and black gloves. On my arm is group gift armband by Epia. It has hud that changes colors, emblems, and resizes. You can also edit tint. My Cyro Hair is by A&Y Cyber Bunker. It comes with a hud that lets you customize your cords and falls with a huge selection of textures! I am wearing a rigged mesh neck corset by Etchaflesh for men! Looks badass ... Hurry to FutureWave! It closes on Feb 23rd.

RMK Halloween: The Pumpkin Prince 2

STORYLINE: The Pumpkin Prince is a noble vampire. No one really knows how old he truly is, but it seems he lost the joy for living a long time ago, except on one night a year, October 31st, when he is "born" once more in the form of an infant. As the hours of Halloween pass, he grows, living an entire lifetime in one night. The ghosts all look forward to his resurrection each year. It just wouldn't be Halloween without the Pumpkin Prince.

Many good things to talk about in this image. First is this is a truly beautiful male mesh Ball Joint Doll avatar by Coco. The figure uses default avatar's rigging, so you can edit the shape to suit your taste, or try to make it fit in normal mesh clothes like I did above. The rigged boots by Lassitude and Ennui are a perfect match for DollCoco's size. The elegant boot pant from Tableau Vivant also works perfectly. The rich cool red quilted tunic by the Muses is on sale over at We Love Role Play right now. For the waist, I combined two belts: the mesh kilt belt by A:S:S and one of my favorite belts by Sey. I get many compliments on this demon blindfold by BjD, it's just so badass. It comes with a color hud. The wings are by Illusions, they can texture change and come with spread wings too. Double the fun with Magika using two hairs to create romantic elfish style. The katana sword has materials and is free from BareRose. The surreal Donkeys are from Medieval Fantasy Hunt at United InshCon. And get this, they actually poop gold. We Love Role Play: Conspiracy in Ancient Egypt

STORYLINE: Kaiser Kruel was not always known by that name. In the ancient world, he was Horemheb, the ambitious Commander in Chief of Pharaoh's army when the Two Lands was at war with itself at the end of the 18th Dynasty. A beautiful Mitanni princess, Nefertiti, brought with her a new monotheistic religion that plunged the nation into a bloody power struggle between the Bull Worshippers and the new Children of the Sun. The heretic queen met an ugly end, and was soon followed by her lovesick husband Akhenaten. His sickly child ascended the throne and was also quickly dispatched. Ankhesenamun, the naive widow of short-lived Tutankhamen, flew into commander's arms, begging him to save her from a marriage to a Hittite prince. He only pretended to care. His eyes were firmly set on the prize. Once she was gone, that left only Aye standing in his way. 4 years later, Horemheb would become the most powerful god king in the known world and return Ancient Egypt to glory.

p.s. I am monster Ancient Egypt fan. This is a fiction but it's also based on lot of historical knowledge of this time period.

It comes in male and female, black and brown. You need to do some adjusting for a good fit on the unrigged mesh parts. The kilt I am wearing is rare item greatly needed, a long mesh kilt. This one by A:S:S comes with an awesome mesh belt in silver or gold, but for my purposes I used the L&B Biker belt to match the brown leather strap theme. I love my claw rings by Glitz. The Saint hair by Emo-tions could be like a punk version of the Sidelock hairstyle the Egyptian princes wore if you use a little imagination.
