Cyber Fair: The Age of Apophis, part 1 (Escape from Club Apophis, 55)

(click enlarge)

STORYLINE: Forbidden Zone border. A dark alleyway. Noon.

The street reeked of ozone, coffee, and fresh blood. Overturned vending machines lined the dirty cement alley. One knocked over vending machine bled shattered mugs across the concrete, their porcelain shards scattered like broken teeth. In the darkest corner, a group of ghouls hunched over a fresh kill.

A hush fell over the landscape as if all sound had suddenly been sucked out of the air.

One creature looked up. A human hand hung limp from its bloodstained jaws.

The asphalt began to vibrate with a deep hum. Low. Inhuman. Glass shook. The surface of spilled coffee rippled in waves.

The other ghouls stopped feeding and looked towards the sound.

A low unnatural fog drifted into the alleyway, rolling over the shattered mugs like an undulating white carpet.

The creatures stood, backing away from their feast.

Then they saw it. Gold eyes burned through the haze like hellfire.

A blur of motion. A flash of white. Jaws. Claws. The sickening sounds of tearing flesh. Monstrous howls echoed off the walls.

Standing at the mouth of the alleyway was a towering figure clad in a white Neu Seoul Police uniform, his low-slung cap throwing his face in shadow. Behind him, a black-and-white police hovercar idled above the fog, red and blue lights flashing.

The remaining ghouls burst through the mist, rushing the man all at once.

He didn’t flinch. His arm swept upward.

Too fast.

An energy field snapped open, the face of Sekhmet blazing within.

The first ghoul’s claws struck its energy barrier and skated off in a blinding spray of blue sparks.

The ghouls broke formation, but it was too late.

A cyberblade sliced through the pack with lethal heat.

The fight was over before it began.

The last ghoul dropped to its knees. “Have mercy..." its dry throat croaked. “My King, we starve..."
The officer looked down. His cyberblade flashed.

The severed head rolled across the slick pavement, bumping gently against the man’s heavy black boot. One milky eye stared upward at him in absolute horror. Then it faded, unfocused.

A mechanical voice spoke from the alley. “My King, all escapees are eliminated.”

A glossy white lioness padded lightly out of the fog, its metallic jaws splattered in black fluid. It paused before the man, and dropped a severed ghoul arm onto the pavement like a cat bringing a gift.

The man wiped the dripping black blood from his blade’s edge before both the sword and shield folded neatly back into his gauntlets. He unhooked his faceplate, revealing a handsome, chiseled visage. His gold eyes held the terrifying weight of a thousand lifetimes.

A crowd had gathered at the edge of the alley, recording the scene on lifted wrists and high-gain ocular implants.

A woman near the front lowered her camera slightly. Her recording kept running, but her smile vanished. She was not looking at the hero. She was staring at the strange badge on his jacket. A cobra with its fangs bared, swallowing the sun.

The Ruler of the Night was suddenly beside her.

A blast of wind whipped her hair across her face.

He snatched the camera from her hand and crushed it in his palm as if it were paper.

She gasped, her heel slipping in gore as she staggered backward.

His smoldering gaze then swept over the crowd, locking on the merchants cowering behind the nearest carts.

“You should not be running food stalls in this sector,” his deep rumbling baritone could be felt as well as heard. “The perimeter is unsafe. All contraband is forfeit. Go home.”

No one moved.

“NOW.” He swept one arm across the nearest cart. Skewers of Korean BBQ tumbled into the gutter.

The merchants turned and fled down the avenue abandoning their carts.

The Ruler of the Night did not watch them go. His eyes were on the lioness. "What news have you on the boy?"

The robotic beast settled beside him.

“Observe,” it projected security footage onto a grimy wall. “It is exactly as you predicted, my King. Their escape remains undetected.”

The flickering image showed a tall, muscular red-haired guard carrying the sleeping boy, his long white hair trailing across the floor. The guard was looking left and right as he crept out of the screen.

“Rewind.”

The lioness obeyed. “The relevant footage of the comatose boy begins at 6:32 pm.”

“Zoom in.”

The footage zoomed in on Jihoon, focusing on mist beginning to roll off his body.

“At 6:42 pm, REM sleep indicators.”

The footage zoomed back out, revealing the guard collapsing.

“At 6:53 pm, sensors detected a spike of energy at the exact moment the guard fainted.”

“Hmm.” The Ruler pointed to the fallen guard. “A call for help.”

“Yes, my King. The boy has exhibited two of your gifts. The mist and the extremely rare Dream Sight. He is immobile, not helpless. Congratulations, my King. You have created a strong fledgling. Does the child know the rules of the Blood Bond?”

The Ruler did not reply.

A slow, ruthless smile touched his lips. “Cancel the ceremony.”

The lioness’ heavy titanium tail stopped its rhythmic swaying.

Midnight Order: The Good Boy (Escape from Club Apophis, 50)

STORYLINE:  Ten days ago.

The world tasted like wet earth and burnt plastic.

Happy opened his eyes, blinking away the muddy water that clung to his snout. Everything hurt. His front paw throbbed with a sharp, biting ache. The air smelled wrong. Burning rubber. Leaking oil. The sky above him was a dark, bruising shade of purple, illuminated by the distant, sickly green neon glow of the Forbidden Zone.

He let out a low, pathetic whimper, his tail twitching against the cold mud of the ditch. Every instinct in his body had screamed No.

Everything smelled wrong. Rain. Blood.

Lisa. Lisa everywhere. Lisa nowhere.

Where was Lisa?

Happy crawled out of the ditch, dragging his injured leg behind him. The wreckage of the car sat a few yards away, a mangled heap of black steel illuminated by a flickering streetlamp. Smoke drifted upward. Hot metal hissed in the drizzle.

He limped closer to the debris, his nose pressed to the damp soil.

Memory returned in jagged fragments.

The Bad Place. The hum hurt his ears. He refused to go. Lisa locked him in the car. Kyra placed beside him. Oil. Blood. Her scent different, sweet and rotten. The angry driver took the corners too fast. Happy bit him for that. Blinding lights. Tearing metal. Sky and ground switching places.

Then nothing. Nothing for a long time.

Pain.

He got back up.

He sniffed the air desperately, catching traces of Lisa, the angry man and Kyra, but they were gone. The area was empty, save for the distant wail of sirens echoing through the neon-lit streets.

Beside the shattered window lay a small, sleek black object. Happy recognized it instantly. It was one of the glass bricks Lisa always carried, its surface covered in her greasy fingerprints and the comforting, sharp scent of her hairspray. She talked to it constantly. Sometimes she even fell asleep with it resting against her chest.

Desperate for any sign of her, Happy nudged the device with his wet nose. He bopped it again, harder this time, trying to wake it up.

The glassy face flared to life, casting a bright blue glow across his muddy snout. A voice tore through the quiet night, loud and frantic.

"Live from the edge of the Forbidden Zone!"

Happy’s ears perked up instantly. His tail gave a weak, hopeful thump against the ground. It was Lisa! He barked.

"It’s not radioactive! There are no biohazards! That’s right, folks, it’s all a government lie! What’s really inside the Zone is monsters!"

He didn’t understand her words, but he knew the sound of fear.

The message ended.

Silence.

He whined, nudging the device again, expecting her to reach out and pat his head.

"...Live from the edge..."

Her voice returned, but where was Lisa? Her voice kept repeating, her scream tearing through the tiny speaker over and over again on a continuous, desperate loop.

He curled his bulky body around the glowing brick, burying his nose against the warm glass, letting her recorded words wash over him while he whined.

"Oh my goodness! What happened here?"

Happy bolted upright, a sharp growl catching in his throat.

A woman hurried toward him from the brightly lit building across the street that smelled like the vet's but bigger. She wore a heavy blue coat. Her face looked pale and drawn, with deep shadows under her eyes.

As she drew closer, Happy’s growl died down, replaced by a confused tilt of his head.

She smelled like medicine and worry. She also smelled like ...Sweet Death. Same as Kyra.

The woman rushed over, her eyes darting from the crushed vehicle to Happy’s bleeding shoulder. "Oh, you poor thing. Was your owner in this crash? Did they leave you behind?”

She knelt in the damp grass, completely ignoring the mud staining her knees, and reached out with gentle hands. “Of course it was an accident. No one would leave a Bio Construct like you behind.”

To Happy, she felt like a sudden, warm light in the dark. He could feel the genuine kindness radiating off her, an absolute absence of malice. He whimpered softly, letting his heavy head sink into her arms as she carefully lifted him off the ground.

"There, there. Don’t you worry, puppy," she murmured, her voice trembling slightly. “Helga will get you help. There's a hospital across the street, but you need a vet.”

Happy snuggled deeper into her coat, his nose pressed against the curve of her neck. He licked her chin softly. He was still frightened, but she was a nice lady.

Helga adjusted her grip on him, her eyes falling to the glowing halophone in the grass. Lisa’s panicked face flickered in the blue light, the warning about the government pact and the monsters repeating over and over.

"Oh! I know that voice. It's that funny girl from the Hexa Herald."

Happy tensed as her hand reached toward the glowing brick. That's Lisa. Don't take Lisa.

“Is that your owner, puppy?” Helga scooped up the device while keeping Happy tucked against her chest.

He calmed. Ok. Lisa comes too.

Lisa’s voice burst from the device, "It’s full of monsters!"

Helga froze, her breath catching in her throat. She looked up toward the dark silhouette of the Forbidden Zone looming in the distance. She touched her lower lip with two trembling fingers.

Helga shifted Happy in her arms and looked down at the screen one last time. Her thumb hovered over the glow. Lisa kept shouting. She swallowed hard, her thumb sliding to Deep Net, then pressing Share.

Her eyes swept the empty, shadow-drenched street. “It’s not safe here, puppy. Let’s get you out of sight right now.”

Happy tucked his nose beneath Helga's chin as she turned and hurried into the dark. His new friend was afraid. The Sweet Death clung to her. Like Kyra. And Lisa wasn't here. Until he found her again... Happy would protect this one.

Woop Woop! Midnight Order is back. Head over and load up on Gothtastic awesomeness and gifts. Helga returns for the finale of Escape from Club Apophis and she brought a cute little friend. Cyber Fair: A Voice in the Dark (Escape from Club Apophis, 45)

STORYLINE:

Mission objective: Escape Club Apophis

Team: Jihoon / Lathandro
Location: The dreamscape in Jihoon’s mind

The void was a muffled, liquid grey. Gone were the familiar dreamscapes. It was like the void was constructing itself, trying to create an imposing building of obsidian but running out of instructions halfway through.

Outside, miles away, the real world hummed with frequencies he could barely grasp. The air of the real world tasted of clove smoke and static. He heard the rhythmic, heavy breathing of Kyle, standing guard.

He focused on Kyle's breathing. Tried to reach toward it.

“Kyle,” his mind whispered. “I’m so cold.”

Kyle's breathing stopped. Just for a second.

The glass door swished open. He felt the bed give way as Kyle sat beside him. A blanket was pulled over him. It was warm and heavy. It smelled of earth and smoke, unmistakably Kyle.

Coincidence? Or had Kyle actually heard him?

He reached out with his mind again. “I’m hungry. So hungry.”

He heard something new. It sounded as if it were coming through a thick pane of soundproof glass. A mechanical hum, high-pitched and familiar. A reporter bot powering on.

Then Lisa Liemawr’s voice, sharp and suspicious: "Jihoon?"

A voice replied as “Jihoon.” But that wasn’t him, and that wasn’t his voice.

Jihoon went still in the void.

What’s happening out there?

He tried to open his eyes, but his eyelids felt like lead slabs. He tried to scream, but his lungs were filled with nothing but static. He was a prisoner in his own skin.

"Little Bookworm," a voice purred from the darkness. "Still wanting someone to save you? Pathetic."

Jihoon turned in the void. Lathandro was there, flickering like a holographic projection, looking utterly bored. He leaned against a glitching street light, looking like a male model in sleek latex from Monstrum Magazine. He sneered at his other half as he spun a digital dagger between his fingers.

"Leave me alone," Jihoon thought, his voice echoing in the hollow silence.

"I'll save you," Lathandro chuckled, a sound like glass breaking on silk. His dagger launched at Jihoon's head with deadly accuracy.

Jihoon held up a hand.

The dagger slammed into an invisible barrier. Violet lightning forked around Jihoon, spreading out from the point of impact. The blade melted and dripped from the barrier, sizzling as it struck the ground.

“You think I’m impressed?" Lathandro spat. "You think the richest blood was a gift? It's a trap. You sold yourself for power. The Ruler owns you now. You cannot disobey your master.”

Jihoon laughed softly. “You’re no better than me. I know your secret. I remember it all now. You only exist because you submitted to MasterGin. While I am what escaped before he could finish.”

A beat of silence. Lathandro's holographic form glitched for a second.

“So what. You’re still terrified. Admit it. The Opening of the Mouth is tomorrow."

“Stupid name. Like something a quack dentist would call an appointment.”

Lathandro leaned against the street light. The corner of his mouth curled upward. “On that point we agree."

“Progress. I’ll take it.”

The darkness softened around him. The void became something briefly familiar, Jihoon’s apartment. Scrappy 2’s ears perked up and his tail began to wag, before it disappeared again.

Jihoon smiled lightly, and looked toward the faint light in the distance of the "outside." He thought of the lecture halls at Jae Won. He thought of Minjo, the way she looked when she laughed, a memory so mundane and warm it felt like a holy relic compared to this surreal neon-lit hell.

"I just wanted to graduate," Jihoon whispered to the void. "I want to be... me."

“You died, idiot.” Lathandro’s voice dripped with mockery. “How many times do I need to say it? You can’t go back to hiding in a library, especially now that your body holds the blood of the most powerful vampire who ever lived. Honestly, I don’t know how we are the same person. You’re so stupid.”

"Easy for you to say."

"Because I'm the part of us that admits what we wanted."

Jihoon felt a sudden, sharp ache in his chest.

The dreamscape cracked open.

For a moment, the grey void vanished.

Throbbing music. Pulsing cyan lights. Perfume. Smoke. Laughter.

Club Apophis.

A thousand beautiful strangers turned toward him at once, wishing him a happy birthday.

The Lost one. The Chosen One. Prince. The words echoed through his memory.

MasterGin's hand on his shoulder. Warm. Proud. Possessive. The faint scent of clove and expensive cologne.

"What do you want for your birthday, dear boy?"

The answer came from both of them at the same time.

“I don't want to be small anymore."

And also, “I want to be like you."

Both boys looked at each other.

Jihoon blinked. "Which was it?"

"Both?” Lathandro shrugged.

The memory shattered.

Fragments rained between them like a broken mirror, clinking like tiny bells.

Jihoon saw his face in the fragments, one side was his old nerdy self and other side the photogenic Lathandro.

"I was drunk," Jihoon blurted. "Drunk out of my mind. God knows what was in those glowing green drinks they kept feeding me.”

Lathandro laughed softly. "Cosmic Snake piss probably.”

Jihoon cringed.

Lathandro looked at him. For once, he was the one who looked sad. "Why did you run? Why did you flee Club Apophis?”

Jihoon took a moment to collect his thoughts before he replied. “Beauty. Thrills. Power. They're fun for a while. But when everything falls apart, you don't remember the parties. You remember who stayed."

“You mean love?" Lathandro laughed bitterly. "That's rich coming from you. You think only human love counts? You’re a monster too. At least I haven’t forgotten who is dragging us back from the grave.”

The boys sat silently, pondering it all.

“I wonder…,” Jihoon said quietly. “What happens if the ceremony fails?”

"It won’t.” Lathandro folded his arms confidently. “We will awaken, and the Age of Apophis will begin."

Jihoon's head jerked up. "What? What are you talking about?”

“Don’t look at me with those sad, confused puppy dog eyes. Isn't it obvious?" Lathandro leaned in, his face inches from Jihoon’s, his eyes burning with a dark, predatory fervor. “I’m gonna kill the Ruler of the Night.”

The void cracked.

A hairline fracture spreading across the grey like glass under pressure.

Then it sealed itself.

Jihoon stared as his thoughts scattered, leaving something deep and unnameable to stir inside him.

Lathandro grinned, a smile that was beautiful and entirely wrong. “Don’t look so shocked. The old order is failing. Look around. Monstrum is the last dying breath of an ancient tyrant’s attempt to hold onto power. He can barely understand our technologic world. When we wake up, everything The Ruler built is going to collapse. Everything he owns is going to be ours. Don't get in the way, Bookworm.”

Jihoon tried to look away, but Lathandro gripped his chin, forcing him to witness the ambition burning in his own reflection. He watched his own pupils dilate with something he didn't want to name.

Jihoon closed his eyes.

Outside, Kyle's breathing was steady.

He held onto that.

Cyber Fair has two shopping days left. If you haven't visited yet, head over this weekend.    ....At long last, Lathandro makes his debut in the year long series. His look is inspired by items at Cyber Fair, snakes, and a fractured personality.   ....From Abyssal is the wonderful Protocol catsuit for men with fantastic textures in PBR and Legacy. The flatpack includes all texture choices, for adjusting the all the material zones on the suit. Matching gear include the Protocol gloves and boots with the same texture options.  And there is a version of this suit for women too.   ...From Excy is a fun cyber hairclip. Is its receiving signals from the net or jacking the wearer into the Hive? Who knows. There are several texture options to choose from. It's unrigged for easy placement.   ...From TRK are the epic Dawnbringer Canon and Halo. I love the cartoon outline on the canons. You can resize them by touching for a popup menu, and use the texture hud to change the textures. Note: the Cannons do not have weapon scripts in them.  ....From Yuebin is the Fallen Saint leather jacket, drapped seductively from one shoulder, available at Lewd Station. (Meanwhile the normal fit version is at the Salvage Station, Dead Romance.) Both versions of the jacket come with a hud to switch out the textures.   ...From Zeroichi is the Crimson Watch Backdrop. You get a copy or mod version of the set. I used the mod version for this image, since I like to control the lighting.

Cyber Fair: The Mind is a Battlefield (Escape from Club Apophis, 35)

STORYLINE: The Jae Won University Stadium burned like a crown of thorns. Rows of plastic seats melted into crooked black smiles, and the scoreboard flickered above them, its numbers dissolving into meaningless static. Ash drifted through the dead wind like red snow.

Jihoon knelt in the dirt of the pitcher’s mound, his breath coming in thin, burning pulls.

Across the diamond, Lathandro twirled a charred baseball bat slowly in one hand. Casual. Patient. Like a man warming up before a game already won. He looked flawless in his white uniform, shoes clean, collar crisp, entirely untouched by the smoke and ruin.

"Do you hear them?" Lathandro asked lightly, his voice carrying over the crackle of the flames.

Voices echoed faintly through the smoke. Muffled. Distant. Real. Jihoon lifted his head. The sky above the dreamscape trembled.

"They’re worried," Lathandro said, a cruel smirk touching his perfect lips. "How sweet."

The scent of clove.

It drifted through the acrid smoke, ancient and entirely out of place.

Jihoon looked towards the scent.

Suddenly, the bat came down. Crack.

Light exploded behind Jihoon’s eyes. He collapsed into the dirt, tasting copper and ash.

"You don't deserve your best friends. You didn't even tell them your birthday," Lathandro continued conversationally, stepping over him. "But I understand."

Another swing. Crack.

"You were born under a bad star, the asteroid Apophis," Lathandro whispered, crouching beside him. "An ill omen. The day that almost ended the world. Imagine how they’d react if they knew you were always cursed."

The crack rang in Jihoon's skull.

"You always knew something was wrong with you. Too quiet. Too strange. Too afraid to exist properly. You watched life from the bleachers while better people played the game." He spread his arms to the burning stadium. "But me? I am the player."

The glitching scoreboard above the stadium spasmed back to life, letters crawling through static until they held in place.

HITS

AWAY: SOMEBODY: 347

HOME: NOBODY: 0

Lathandro glanced up at the board and smiled faintly. “Scorekeeping matters.”

Suddenly, the ground convulsed. A violent earthquake ripped through the dreamscape, collapsing a section of the bleachers. Jihoon’s real body was being moved.

Through the fissures in the sky, a voice bled through. Deep, broken, and wet.

Kyle.

“He didn’t want this! Look at him! Jihoon never wanted to be a monster!” Kyle’s voice cracked with a guilt so profound it made the ground in the dreamscape shudder. Kyle, the guy who treated joy like a personal insult, was weeping for him.

Jihoon flinched and closed his eyes.

"Oh?" Lathandro murmured, his eyes narrowing. He raised the bat. "Still clinging to them? Pathetic. Just forget them already."

Before the bat could fall, a new voice sliced through the haze, cold and sharp with fury. He knew that voice. The nurse from the hospital.

“You think MasterGin forced this upon him?” Her voice sneered from the waking world. “You think your precious friend is a victim? Look at the footage, you ignorant children. He begged for it.”

The melting jumbo screen flickered violently. Then a new image forced itself across the burning pixels. It was shaky halophone footage from inside the velvet madness of Club Apophis.

Jihoon saw his own face, his old, unremarkable face, looking up at the towering silhouette of MasterGin.

Something inside Jihoon recoiled. The words felt familiar. Like overhearing himself through a wall.

“I’m tired of being a nobody. Tired of being weak. I can't even tell the girl I like how I feel,” his old self on the screen whispered, his voice trembling with raw, desperate hunger. “I don’t want to be small anymore....”

"Forget it!" Lathandro roared, his composure snapping. He brought the bat down viciously. "Forget! Let it go! I am the one keeping us alive! Your life ended the moment you walked into Club Apophis. Mine is just beginning!"

The bat came down again. Crack.

The scoreboard clicked.

HITS: 348

Above them, the real world was descending into chaos.

“He's coming. Enforcers in the corridor,” Paine’s voice snapped. “Here. Take this. Go.”

Jihoon's heart sank. But then, a hand reached through the sensory void. It was warm. Small. Real. He felt it.

Minjo’s voice broke through the static, closer than the rest. “Jihoon.”

Her hand tightened around his. “I thought sunscreen would be enough.” The words trembled, then hardened.

For a moment she said nothing. The silence carried everything she couldn’t.

“I will not fail you again.” Her grip tightened. “I don’t care what they are. Vampires. Cults. Gods.”

A breath against his cheek. “I watched you burn. Your arms on fire reaching to me, begging me to save you. So that's what I'll do. This is not over.” A pause. “Do you hear me?”

He felt the whisper of her lips against his cheek. Warm. Human. Alive.

Her touch was real. A kiss.

A jolt of pure, living electricity shot through his paralyzed limbs.

"Forget her!" Lathandro roared, swinging the bat for a final, memory-erasing blow.

Jihoon moved.

He didn't dodge. He reached up and caught the barrel of the bat, his bare, bloody hands stopping the wood cold.

Lathandro's grip faltered. Something crossed his perfect face that had no name in his vocabulary. The firelight flickered across their mirrored faces. One majestic, one bruised and bleeding.

"I kept you alive," Lathandro hissed.

Jihoon tightened his grip on the wood, staggering to his feet. "I know," he rasped, looking his shadow dead in the eye. "But you’re not all I am."

Jihoon twisted. The bat tore free from Lathandro’s grip. With a snarl of all his pent-up rage, he swung it back and cracked it across Lathandro's flawless jaw.

The scoreboard shrieked with feedback. The team names scrambled like a broken machine, then went dark.

The beautiful boy spun and collapsed into the ash. Knocked out cold.

The moment Lathandro fell, the inferno shattered like glass. The nightmare purgatory of Jihoon’s death dissolved, replaced instantly by the familiar, damp neon of the alleyway outside his old dorm. A mechanical bark echoed through the brick corridor. Scrappy 2 bounded from the shadows, tail wagging.

Jihoon dropped the bat, his chest heaving.
He screamed at the sky, "Minjo! I'm here!"

But the voices were fading. The heavy, rhythmic clicking of MasterGin’s heels approached in the real world. His friends were gone. They had fled. But he was still unconscious in the heart of Monstrum.

The alley lights suddenly dimmed. Neon signs flickered. A low hum vibrated in the ground.

Clap. Clap. Clap.

The slow, deliberate sound of applause drifted from the shadows of the alleyway.

Jihoon spun around.

A towering silhouette stepped into the dim light, draped in black, his golden dreadlocks arranged like a Pharaoh’s nemes. The air immediately chilled, smelling of ancient stone and clove cigarettes.

The Ruler of the Night looked down at Lathandro's unconscious body, then up to Jihoon, his gold eyes bright with something that might have been amusement if amusement could also be a threat.

"I have watched this infestation try to break you," the Ruler said, his voice a resonant baritone that vibrated in Jihoon's chest. "You have proven yourself. I did not expect such resilience from a human. It is fortunate your rescuers forced my Lucien to move you away from that cursed energy."

Jihoon backed up, his hands trembling. "Who are you?"

The ancient vampire took a slow drag from his cigarette, the embers flaring orange in the dark.

"I am known by many titles," he purred smoothly. "But you may think of me as the Instrument of Order. My servant, the Instrument of Chaos, has laid a claim on your flesh, but I see you are not entirely his." The Ruler extended a massive, armored hand toward Jihoon. "Let us speak of a mutually beneficial arrangement. A deal to balance the scales."

Jihoon looked at the extended hand, then at Scrappy sitting patient in the neon dark, then back at the oldest person he had ever seen.

When I saw STOP's robot dog, thought I had gone to heaven for a moment. Its perfect. And perfect for for this story as the dream symbol of Minjo, guarding poor Jihoon. Lovely. Just lovely. ... Blaze is his real name, and he comes in different color selections. You just wear him, and he's fully animated with cool sci-fi noises. The Hud can change its LED glow color. He's a good boy.   ....From Diaboli Designs is Voidcore boots. Like all DD boots, it comes with a hud full of texture options and texture animations. It's so fun. I went with a Lime Green ad Black look to match the jacket.   ...Savage's Yuri Jacket has backpack built in the back.  The front can your pick from several colors, and the back and backpack are black.   ...Matching the lime theme is the T-AB headphones by Lavu.  You can get in several colors, and then modify is even more with a hud. The headphones are unrigged and mod, so you can get a perfect fit.   ... In the background, I used the mod version of ZEROICHI's KABUKI X Backdrop. Its detailed L shaped set with built in lights and PBR textures. With the mod version you can tint, or move pieces around. It includes stand alone props bottles, and an option without built in lighting.   ...And a subtle detail in the back, is the EC3D neon sign of the Dog which I combined with the ZEROICHI's Love sign.  ... Just an another little nod to our Snow White (Jihoon) finally getting that kiss from his love (Minjo) that awakens, not his body, but his agency. -- My own cyber twist to the famous fairytale.
