Salvage Station: Nuclear Winter

STORYLINE: Moments before the nuclear warhead detonated over Cairo, a lone being with supernatural speed flew deep inside the womb of his ancient origins. It was a fitting place to die, he thought, the King’s Chamber in the Great Pyramid of Giza. But the blinding nuclear flash did not penetrate the 2.3 million bricks surrounding him. There was impossible heat, the ground trembled, and then slowly the stone turned colder and colder. He didn’t know how long he sat in the dark hoping to hear any signs of life, the flutter of bat wings, the scamper of a beetle.... Nothing. Silence. It wasn’t until finally the thirst grew so intense it drove him out of hiding. There was no way to prepare for the horror he witnessed. He fell to his knees. He had once been so regal, so proud, so convinced of his divine right to rule, but now the tears flowed and there was no one to dry his eyes. No birds in the sky. No creatures on the land. The Nile was frozen and buried under snow and ash. What had once been a bustling city of 9.5 million was vaporized like it never existed. The only proof humans had ever lived there at all was a shadow of a man burned into the pyramid’s stone. He was frozen from the shock, and then an old saying unexpectedly came to mind, "Man fears time, but time fears the Pyramids." Yes, like these 4,500 year old stones, he too endures. He took a deep breath, brushed the hair off his face, and plunged deep into the radioactive snow. He had a new purpose now, -- find survivors of the apocalypse. Not to kill. No, those times were over, but to nurture. It was a bitter irony for an old monster like him who cared so little about "the food." There was no time to waste. He detected a faint scent of living blood on the cruel winds. A woman of breeding age was nearing death. Could he get there in time…?

SLS Syndicate brings to you a brand new event, Salvage Station! Round one takes place in a post-acoplyslic wintery world cobbled together from technology from multiple eras, whatever gets the job done. The sim is decorated on theme and even includes a cool hunt to find objects and use them in recipes to create new objects. Nice touch!  This post was inspired by my Blogger Bat buddy Aarya, as we came up ideas for her post. A story grew and then lead to this one. I also want to take a moment to thank a hero to me, Anne Rice. She passed away yesterday at age 80 from complications of a stroke. Her imagination, and point of view on many topics deeply resonated with me. Her influence will live on inside me, and her creative spark still burns bright on the printed page. RIP

Summerfest 2019: Crabs vs Starfish

STORYLINE: Unknown to the humans playing in the summer surf, their picnic area had drawn the attention of the denizens of the beach. Mr Crack Kracken and his crew of dancing crabs challenged Ms Sea Star and her children to a little contest: Who can pop the most bottles open? The starfishes quickly fell behind as the crabs popped and popped until there were bottle caps laying everywhere. Regardless of the winner, all creatures of the shoreline enjoyed the delicious soda pop, and a good time was had by all.

How cute are all these beach creatures?  They are available now at Summerfest. The sandcastle by Hextraordinary is full of Animesh Crabs. You lay them down individually, or trigger their thier cute cheorographed dance routine by touching the castle. The crabs by MishMish are also animesh and will wander side to side. They also come in static poses, and several colors. The Starfish by Yokai are also animated. You can wear them or rez. They come in several colors and static poses too. The palm tree in the background is also animated with a pleasant slow sway. The mini fridge, soda bottles, and bottle caps are by Dahlia.

Dream of the Little Kuro Oni

STORYLINE: A kite sailing high above the summer festival hid a tiny passenger. The Kuro Oni was small, but ambitious. He practiced everyday throwing shuriken and training. As he spied on the villagers below, he saw two clever kistunes trying to pass themselves off as humans. They were holding a contest to find the strongest man of the village. They were promising the winner a fabulous prize. He wondered what mischief they were up to, but with them having strong magic, he couldn't help but daydream the kitsunes might make his dream come true. He wanted more than anything in the world to become a celebrated Ninja like his big brother.

The Fantasy Gacha Carnival is opening tomorrow, November 6th, with the themes of Silver, Gold, Angels, and the Dark Side of the Moon. This post is inspired by the devilish outfit by !gO! and the book Good Omens (that was featured in a past A Tattered Page). I really loved the book and I'm delighted to get a chance to return to the theme of Angels and Demons. The !gO! furry pants are a first of their kind in sl! They are perfect for demons and dwellers in the colder regions of SL. The pants come in long and short styles to make it easier for you to wear boots or digitigrade legs. The cape has a hood, and works best if you wear an alpha to cover the ears. The belts are wonderful and be worn without the cape. The upper horns are Sahara'S Elya Horns also at the Fantasy Gacha. The lower horns from the past Fantasy Gacha by Aisling. The tattered Azrael Bone Wings by Remarkable Oblivion are on sale at We <3 Role Play. This fun very green skin Moss is by Fallen Gods and includes so many great appliers. I used the Omega one for the Slink Body. To  match my Death Row Creature Legs, I added the Dragon Scales Omega Applier by Even-tide. Mr Crawly's Snake tongue is by DownDownDown. Touch it and you can change the color. Its mod so you can scale and resize it how you want. For make up, I used the Trickster eyeliner from Dusk by [ni.Ju], and Noir chapstick by Random Matter. STORYLINE: Waves lap at the shore as the sky turns from blue to gold. "Could there be anything else more lovely?" he thought as he cracked up a bottle of Mad Dog. He could happily fall asleep right now, but no sooner had the scent wafted out of the bottle than a swarm of noisy seagulls descending upon him. "Damn skyrats," he sneered. They totally ruined his mood, but it wouldn't be a day at the beach without them.

Summertime! I have some great goodies relaxing at the beach to show you. From Boys of Summer is the Jolly Roger shades by 7 Mad Ravens. They come in either red or black and have a x,y,z script for resizing. Be sure to pick up the free Boys of Summer lounger while you are there. The Mad Dog lounger and lamp you find at the Unkindness main store. The lamp light can turn on and off at touch. The Loungers have several poses includes. ...Over at Summerfest is the Salty hair by Tableau Vivant. This is cool style and it does look like salty windswept beach hair. lol it includes a nice hair scalp too. I love the hairline on this one. Also don't miss at Summerfest these wonderful Seagulls by Ohmai. There are 4 gulls in poses, 2 that fly, and one for a shoulder pet. Each gull is animated, will squawk away noisily, and will add realism to your beach. Seriously, so me no beach feels like beach without the skyrat squad lurking close by. lol There are several breeds to choose from. I used the Franklin gull because it reminds me of the gulls we have here where I live. ...From the Japanese storytelling adventure, Mizu, is the awesome Wet Shirt by Gabriel. It works with the TMP body and the default avatar. The shirt is limited to the event so if you haven't been yet, I highly recommend it. You can pick up a hud for the quest at the main landing. ...From Collabor88 is another wonderful creation at C88 sale price by Trompe Loeil, the Kiya Beach Hut and pier. The set comes in several hut colors. ...On sale now is the KYO piercings by Haus of Darcy. You can scoop these up for a steal of a deal at the current round of Tengoku no Rakuen. ...The Bali fitted mesh shorts by Swagga work great with the TMP body, and also come in default size. ...The necklace is by Ison and it'd mod to adjust for a good fit. ...And lastly, the sandals are by ILLI. The Secret of Castle BlueBeard, 1

STORYLINE: "All that is mine, is yours," he said. He was everything a simple French country girl could dream of in a husband. He was handsome, wealthy, and catered to her every whim. Of course she agreed instantly to marry him! True, there were moments when his smile faded, and an eerie look crept into his eyes, (he often brooded over his pervious wife's death during childbirth), but his sadness only made her love him more. He talked of death like someone who had seen too much of it. "What point is all this?" He spread his arms wide as if to encase his entire massive estate, "when you can't take it with you?" "Well," she smiled at him playfully and stroked his chest, "Best to enjoy your time while you can. Your children, and children's children will enjoy the point of all this." What a complex and mysterious man he was. He had only one rule, do not enter the top floor of the north tower.

In the background is a massive set I built with the help of Kariritaisho. The BlueBeard's castle in the front is by Kalopsia. It's all mesh, 72 land impact, has two lower floor, two upper and a hallway. You can walk the ladder up to the second floor. I edited the textures so I could roughly match it to the castle in the back. I wanted a enormous castle for all of Bluebeards many rooms, and this one is whopper! Partial mesh and 874 land imapct. You need a draw distance of 144 just to see it all. Definitely one for rezzing on the sandbox. lol Kariritaisho won this on the silent auction during Fantasy Faire. The Pleasure Palace: The Opium's Curse

STORYLINE: There was defeat in victory. The Cursed A.N.G.E.L was bleeding badly. He needed blood, lots of it. He was delirious. He had already ripped EVA limb from limb, and still he battled on. He attacked spectators blindly, but the blood of genetically engineered humans could not satisfy him. The thirst drove him to more and more horrific acts of violence. Standing calm in sea of screeching people was a man with a dart gun. He knew the Cursed A.N.G.E.L's weakness. A dart soon found it's mark, and the A.N.G.E.L collapsed. ..."Opium. God, why did it have to be opium?" he moaned. He hated that crap. Opium cursed him. If only he hadn't been so damn high on that moonless night long ago, he would have realized from where that bump-in-the-night came, and ran like hell.

Now a little more about what we are wearing. Aarya returns to BishieStyleSL for a cameo as the vampiress who created the Cursed A.N.G.E.L. I wish her a speedy recovery from surgery and hopefully she can return to blogging soon. Her outfit is by Barerose, hair by Truth, skin by Glam Affair, and pet Shiro is a gacha by Aii. ... You'll have to forgive me for mixing styles here. The Ao Dai by Barerose comes with pants, but who needs those? *throws away* lol Besides, look at these excellent shoes by BOOM. They have a materials' suede look to them you can see in advanced lighting. They are sale at Collabor88 for only 88L and come in girls and guys and many colors options. The Runaway hair Darcy is from Manga Fair. I love the bangs, and though it's meant for girls, it works perfectly on the guys too! The smoking pipe is fun older item by Rozoregells and it contains several poses with the pipe, like I used above. The dark headdress is from Latex Web and was past gift. I combined it with the TAMA Japanese Lantern hairsticks from a past Genre round. The pearl necklace is from Monster and has several strands. It comes with a resize script.
