ScifiCon: Radical Ed and the Quest for Space Lobster

STORYLINE: On the dusty streets of New Albuquerque in the off world colonies, a strange flame haired teen danced and sang to a song only he heard. Following behind Radical Ed was a short legged dog dressed in a lobster costume. In the teen's arms were takeout boxes from Space Lobster, and on top of that was an open laptop almost at his eye level. The screen flickered with the image of a blue haired woman. “Damn it. He got away. I don’t see why I should pay for dinner when I have no money! It should be the one who collects the bounty!” A nonchalant sounding guy replied, “Hey, not my problem you make bets you can’t pay.” The woman began to curse. In the distance, Ed heard gunfire. He checked a map on his computer, then stopped in front of a hanger. Its massive door slowly groaned open. “We’re heerrree!” He placed the boxes on the ground and pointed to his furry companion, “Guard, Einstein!” The little corgi smiled and barked. Ed looked back in the distance towards the gunfire. It was getting closer. He hurried inside, but froze in his tracks at the awe inspiring sight looming over him, -- the AMC Tiger Mech. “Whoa.” Then a big mischievous grin grew across his face. In a blink of an eye, he pirouetted up the scaffolding, and landed inside the heavy war machine. His hands danced at the controls as he Oooed and Ahhhed at the shiny technology. Then he reached down, grabbed a handful of wires, and yanked. “Oops,” he chuckled. He popped open his laptop, plugged it into the machine, and typed as fast as the gatling gun firing outside. Close, too close!  He smashed the enter key, tossed a bomb with a smiley face into the cabin, and hopped to the ground with a soft thud. The corgi barked and ran up to him. Panic crossed Ed's face as he quickly scooped up the little dog, dropped low, and rolled behind a cluster of tall metal crates. Gunfire began to ricochet into the hanger. Metals sparks all around them. When the ammo ran out, a man wearing a cowboy hat raced in. But he had no face. What he had instead was a solid metal plate with heat seeking vision. The Golden Express Bandit! Ed watched quietly as the bandit labored up the scaffold, leaving a trail of blood, then flopped into the pilot seat. “Goodbye, Spike Spiegel!” he snarled as the Tiger’s guns suddenly stirred and aimed outside. “Shit!” A figure silhouetted against the bright sand outside, dove to the side just as 3 rockets launched in his direction. Ed reached down with his hand and clamped the dog's jaw shut as the rockets exploded. The ground shook. The sound of the explosions reverberated in the desert canyon. A few moments later, Spike's weak voice flickered through the laptop. “Damn.... No ...lobster tonight. I... I think I need a medic.” Ed punched in a few keys on the laptop. As the cockpit canopy lowered and locked tight, a grin spread across his face like the cat who caught a mouse. The mech began to fill with smoke. “Nitey Nitey Mr. Express." Outside, a confused Spike stumbled into the hanger holding his side. Ed popped up from behind the crates and pointed to the charred lobster boxes. “Order more, your treat!” The towering mech lumbered out of the hanger with Ed trailing behind it, his fingers working a joystick. Spike leaned against the wall, and watched the kid with the little corgi trotting behind him still wearing a ridiculous lobster costume. He lit up a smoke, and shook his head, "Damn brat. Next time we bet on who pays the hospital bill."

Its ScifiCon in SL! Have you see it yet? Many fun sims, a hunt, cool things to buy in themes of Cyberpunk, Dieselpunk, Space Western, Steampunk, Super Heroes, Silvertech, Ecotech, and Near Future. This post and story were inspired by items at the event and the anime Cowboy BeBop. From Death Row Designs is a stunning fully meshed sim with shitton of decor items that is just stunning to behold. The DRD team worked for months on this massive Space Western theme build. And delivering badassness, is the brand new AMC mech and repair bay with animated repair arm and flying repair bot by Solaras. For Ed's outfit is the Cyber mechnic by MALified, and Googles and backpack by Butanik83. Radical Ed is an ambiguous gendered character, so for my take on him I used Off-shoulder Crop Top with V-tech flat chest mod for Maitreya, and +AH+ collar to hide the seam with a male head Kane by Lelukta, wearing female face skin by DeeTalez and Boi skin by Pink Fuel. Since this is a mechnic outfit and Repair Bay and Hanger, I threw in the Sekai pipe Wrench for fun. And speaking of fun, how adorable is the little Corgi by Sweet Thing & DarkendStare?

And now a little more Information about the very cool new [AMC] Solares Tiger mech. At Scificon, you can demo the Tiger and try it out within the store. You will first want to buy from the vendors for Basic Mech, Deluxe, or Mega pack which includes everything. If you want to do max Relay for Life donations: 1) Get the basic (The basic includes the Tiger and all you need to start fighting.) Then 2) walk over to the row of Relay for Life vendors to get fun addons like the popular Repair Bay, or Cat Ears for your mech, and a variety of skins. Now how do you add the addons? 1) Unpack workshop. 2) Rez the tiger on the ground. 3) Wear Workshop hud 4) Then wear on the addons you want to load into the Workshop menu. 4) Drag and drop addons from the Workshop menu to "skin" tab or "front deco" tab for the ears. STORYLINE: Crewmen Stephan couldn't shake the feeling he was being watched. The cargo freighter USS Charon was dead in the water near the Scheol Nebula. Unless he could find the problem and make the necessary repairs, he was stuck until help arrived. And since that could take years, it was up to him to fix it, no matter how much his skin crawled as he ventured deeper and deeper into the heart of the dilapidated spaceship. His stomach growled angrily. He hadn't been feeling well since he ate that lousy dinner on a passing freighter a month ago. "Never Again," he swore under his breath. No sooner had he opened a hatch in the floor, then something flew out and attached itself to his face. He screamed and clawed at it, gagging and thrashing wildly. Something going down his throat! But it was too late, a paralytic venom was already slowing his movements. His vision was blurred as a dark shape loomed over him. It knelt beside him, saying “Shhh, shhh..." and stroking his hair. Tears rolled down his eyes. What was it? It looked alien, but human too. The creature’s sharp claws were caressing him like a pet. "I know it hurts, my poison will kill the foreign food-born egg growing inside you." His limp body was picked up like he weighed nothing. The alien carried him to a hole melted in the ship's hull, and judging from the leaking fuel lines, this was most likely the cause of the engine failure. Another ship was attached outside. It's black surface gleamed and seemed alive with pulsing green goo in its biomechanical veins. "We are going to a safe place," his capturer said, "Nothing will ever hurt you again as long as you are with me."

ALIENS! HORROR! Necrotize is a unique event full of things to haunt your nightmares. This image was inspired by the tale of Hades and Persephone with an Aliens twist. On the Alien is the super cool Giger outfit by Somnium. It comes with an infection BOM tattoo which I combined with the Human Glitch Ncthr tattoo. The haunted Syrre Eyes are by Petrichor and have so many options, its great. Poor Stephan is wearing the Krova Animesh Facehugger, and Antaya Incubator attachment. I discovered it works on male and female avis that wear a layer alpha. His outfit is Orther by Asteroidbox. It has support for many mesh bodies, male, female, and the Mait flat like I used here. The gorgeous setting is Level 03 by Varonis. All these awesome items are at Necrotize, and there are gifts too in the Green Eggs.

Aenigma (Tainted Love) : Poltergeist

STORYLINE: "Betrayer," a malevolent voice whispered in the dark. No, not again.... A whirlwind suddenly exploded. Books flew across the room. Rosa Rossa quickly grabbed his dagger and tried to stab the disembodied arms before they could scratch "Mine" across his body once more. He screamed and thrashed wildly. He was no longer the sleek hunter, a fiend feasting on the blood of innocents. No, it was he who was the prey. "Forever young," they said, "forever beautiful." But none of those lying Nosferatu bastards offering him the Gift bothered to mention there were other dark forces lurking in the shadows.... They gave not one word of warning that a soul who died violently could return to exact revenge.... Now there was no escape. No way to kill the monster he created. Two immortals, locked in a war of love turned to hate for all entirety.

I'm very happy I was invited a few days ago to blog this event, so many designers I love are here.  This image was inspired by a few of the items at the event. The Ghost Hands are super cool! They are animesh by Maru Kado, and hover around you in a very creepy way before grabbing at you. I love it! Coming with it is a White Crow tattoo of scratch marks, in applier and BOM for face and body. I love this super cool Rose and Thorn hand bling by Silvery K. I had to have it! So I switched to the Maitrya body with V-tech chest to wear it. The Dagger is by Deadly Nightshade and includes several hud triggered attack animations. The heart lock collar by unstable includes a hud to change its textures. And lastly you can find this dandy hat in Insonmia Angel houndtooth gacha at Aenigma.    The RavenBell Jay hair I picked up recently at the Humpday Sale. Its awesome! Be sure to keep your eye on those sales to see if he offers any new hairs in Dystopian colors. And lastly, I want to show you a sneak peek of the new FATE Oculi eyes! They are very cool with animated irises that dilate and contract automatically. I helped beta test them. So many things on my wishlist from Fate Eyes and now these made it into the product. You guys are going to love them so much. There will be addons too, for super huge eyes, cat eyes, and a dev kit for the creation of new eye texture and appliers. 2066: Geisha of Debtors Prison

STORYLINE: Rain fell gently into the rejuvenation pool. It was a special lubricant for the joints of androids, and cyborgs. His constant companions, Gertie 1 and 2 sighed joyfully. More accurately they were the jail-keepers of his personal hell. He would never get used to it, this artificial prison of a body he inhabited. It was one year ago, when he was given a choice: Die from his injuries in debtors' prison, or willingly submit to full cyberization to work off his debts. What was his crime for such a horrendous sentence? He refused to pay the Cyber Mafia over a lost bet. The Deathmatch between BattleBot EVA and the vampire was obviously rigged. So he threw his scumbag loan shark into the display case for some silly ancient relic. And for that crime, he was turned from a bearded hard drinking gambler into the sleek androgynous Gynoid Geisha no.10023. His only purpose was to please the twisted kinks of his master, Kujo, ringleader of the Cyber Mafia. Was it fair? Hell no. But the cops weren't coming to save him. He signed paperwork making the cyberization legal. Besides, he was just a brain lodged inside a very expensive polycarbonate body now, literally the property of Kujo. What was left to save? He died. And the worst part was, (or was it the best part?), he felt less and less like the person he used to be. Was it true that a person's identity was created by how they looked and how people reacted to that appearance? He saw the world with new eyes, and not just because they were digital. People saw him with new eyes too. He would never admit he didn't completely hate it. ...Still, he secretly wished Gertie would look away so he could kill the mean son-of-bitch who did this to him.
