Androgyny Event: Escape from Club Apophis, 1

STORYLINE: He ran.

Boots slapped through puddles at a frantic pace, spraying water in rhythm with his pounding heart. The downpour cloaked his presence as if it could wash away what he had become. Neon reflections of acid green, candy pink, and electric blue, rippled across slick asphalt like spilled desires. Neu Seoul dozed behind its steel mask, but something beneath its skin was wide awake screaming.

A sleek black hovercar shrieked overhead. Its searchlight sliced through the haze like a hungry predator. Inside his skull, the whispers began again, low and coaxing, like silk sliding over a blade.

"Come back to us, Lathandro... We love you... We miss your warmth…"

He gritted his teeth and sprinted harder.

"My name is Yoon Jihoon,” he panted, as if the words could ward them off. “I’m a student at Jae Won University. I study. I keep out of trouble. My friends say I’m boring. I had a normal life."

"You had nothing, Little Bookworm,” sneered a new voice, richer and more honeyed with cruelty than the rest. “We gave you Beauty. Power. Desire. Every inch of you was made to be seen. And you ran."

It was the King Cobra himself, no doubt the pilot of the luxurious black hovercar.

He could hear him clearly now: arrogant, theatrical, purring each syllable with operatic flair. Seducer. Sculptor. Sadist. Jihoon could feel the demonic cybernetic surgeon's lingering presence like a phantom kiss on the nape of his neck.

"You don’t belong among *them* anymore, Little Worm. Stay with us. Be adored. Your lips are meant to be worshipped."

His torn parka flared behind him like broken wings. His body didn’t feel like his. Too graceful. Too strong. Too perfect. A nightmare had reshaped him, a nightmare called Club Apophis. He remembered stumbling into that cursed place on a dare one night. But it felt like three years of velvet madness. Whatever reshaped him in Club Apophis, it hadn't completed its work.

The spotlight hit him like lightning as the hovercar swooped low. He caught his strange reflection in its obsidian skin. Porcelain skin. Hair soaked, cascading in streaks of white, cyan, and candy pink. Bright, doll-like eyes rimmed in high-art makeup. Glossed lips parted in panic. Latex clung to his body like a second skin, squeaking with each breathless twist.

He no longer looked like the awkward, bookish boy who went in. Now he looked like something summoned from a fever dream. Androgynous, divine, and utterly unforgettable.
Ahead was the last barrier to his freedom, a tall rusted chainlink fence. Beyond that, dawn was breaking, its rays slicing between skyscrapers in soft hues of pink and silver.

Jihoon summoned strength from deep in his altered frame, and leapt.

The fence caught his coat, tearing it. He hit the concrete hard, knees scraped raw. Sunlight ricocheted off the mirrored skyscrapers, cutting through the gloom like a blade of fire as he collapsed in a pool of light.

Behind him, the shadows hissed in fury. 

The menacing black hovercar halted. Then, slowly, it too backed away. The shadows slithered back toward the forested ruins.

"Be careful, Little Worm. The daylight might crack your pretty dollface." 

And then... the car backed away. The shadows slithered back toward the ruins.

Jihoon stood slowly, legs shaking, breath ragged. Blood ran down his shin, but he didn’t care. He was out. He was free.

And yet his heart ached. Part of him wanted to turn back. To return to the club. To its kisses. It's velvet chains.

“No,” he whispered, clenching his fists. “I need to find that rat bastard who dared me to spend the night there.” Sunlight glinted in his hair as he turned toward the city. “I’m gonna punch his lights out.”

I have some awesome news for fans of androgynous style, a brand new event just for you will be recurring monthly, The Androgyny Event! So far it seems to be a smash hit! Things for guys, things for girls, and everything in-between. I adore having clothing options like this. I'm so happy such an event has been created. ...And on Monday, May 19th there will be live DJ at 5pm SL for the halftime show. 

This post was inspired by items at event, the movies Blade Runner and Rocky Horror Picture Show, colorful SL fashion styles from the furry community, and a story I wrote about a recurring character to the blog during my year away. 

The Vertui Jacket from Cubic Cherry comes in male and female fits. It's roomy and could be worn by a variety of mesh bodies. ...The Pyre pants by Wraith have a feminine silhouette but can be worn by girls and guys. The pants include shoes that are perfectly draped by the pants with a slight slit peek a boo slit on the lower leg. They come in a base texture set of cloth or latex. Bodies supported are: Anatomy, Jake, Legacy male, athletic, and female, Lara X, Reborn, and Anatomy.   ... The colorful makeup is Michele by Rubedo for Evo X heads. There are 12 colors. I used the limegreen version and layered it with cyan eyeshadow. ...I paired the event items with the Rory hair by Exile that has some badass color options, the Summer Corset and Misaki color by Artificial Hallucination, Fishnet undershirt by AsteroidBox, and this was shot on location at the cybertastic Cobalt Blue Dance Club.

Midnight Order : As the World Falls Down

STORYLINE: Such a sad love. Laughter had fled the decaying Goblin City. The distressed goblins voted to send the Wisest among them to fix the problem. There in a crumbling throne room, surrounded by a mountain of books, was the fierce presence of their troubled leader. The Wiseman tried to sound sympathetic, "It's clear to this old one, a broken heart is the source of your Highnesses’ diminished power." The Goblin King shot him a burning glare. "It's not your fault, your Majesty. You had not been properly socialized with humans. They often say what they don't mean. Take this baby? Or make this baby stop crying? Who knows. You'll do better next time. Forget the raven haired beauty." The King rose to his full height and towered over the small trembling being. "Is my magic not absolute?" The Wiseman immediately bowed deeply and averted his eyes, "Yes, yes of course." The King roared and threw a book at him, "You understand nothing! She WISHED I do anything for her love! It's binding! Unbreakable, you nitwit! I was compelled to grant every ill-conceived notion that crossed her addled mind. Did it make her happy? Did she not see I showed her the error of her ways? NO!" he bellowed, "It made me a villain!" He sank back down on the throne and moaned in pain. "Even if I wanted to leave, I no longer have the power." His gaze turned to a broken stone arch, and looked somewhere far away. His voice trailed in despair, "banished from her life...." 

Suddenly, ray of light penetrated the gloom. A small snow goblin scampered into the room, climbed up on the throne, and offered an intriguing gift from the Academy of the Dark Arts. The King took the book and read its title out loud, "Chicken Soup for the Goblin Afflicted Soul." Intrigued, he glanced at the index and quickly turned to page 98. The sudden click of a heel made his head jerk up just in time to see a crystal ball materialize in front of him. Where did it come from? It wasn't his. His power had long since fled. The ball flew across the room and was caught by a blond spiky haired teen emerging from the shadows wearing the robes of the Academy, "You can thank me later, Mr Tricky" the lad narrowed his eyes. "By the way, that was my book. The Academy helped me overcome your surprise parting gift. You should be more careful who you mess with, I'm not a defenseless baby anymore. But let's not fight, there's someone who wished to see you." With the comic flair of a goblin showman, he stepped aside revealing his blushing older sister who had grown into a beautiful woman. He felt his heart skip a beat. She was terribly busy pretending the floor was interesting. "Just because life's not fair, doesn't mean the King can't impose fairness upon it. If you accept the terms of the deal, you can stay with my sister  half the year, and I will rule in your place with the full power of the King. When time is up, we will automatically switch places and this blasted curse will be lifted from me so I can live a normal life. We repeat the cycle every year. Do you accept the terms?" Speechless, the King had nothing snarky to say. His mouth hung open as he looked from his clever heir to the woman he loved. It wasn't like her to be shy, perhaps she was embarrassed, or felt shame? Maybe she was worried he would say no. When she finally had the courage to look into his eyes, all her doubts melted away. The happiest man in the Goblin Kingdom smiled at her and teased, "Come come, you didn't wish upon your poor brother to rescue me, now did you?"

That was fun. A little super condensed mini sequel to the movie classic Labyrinth. The whole idea for the post and story started with the Cryptdweller boots and pants by Quills and Curiosities, (which  reminded me so much of David Bowie), and the Chicken Soup books by Ivy that included Goblin. Both items are for sale at the new round of Midnight Order. Since its a new year, I thought it would be good try new things. The image is done in what I call the "illustrative style" my blogger bat buddy Aarya excels at. Thanks for the helps, Aarya! Necrotize: The Laughing Aliens

STORYLINE: The Guardian wrapped his arm around his best spy and laughed. "Wonderful work, Agent Tri, the humans are running away! Did you hear how loud that last one screamed when my children hatched?" The aliens both roared with laughter. "You were correct, Tri. the Hairless Apes could not be reasoned with, none of our numerous warnings to avoid the Plague Nebula were heeded. Terror is the only true language lower lifeforms understand. I will pass this valuable information to the Queen should we have any trouble with Terrians again."

Happy Alien Celebration Day! Well, in their corner of the universe anyway. lol This big Necrotize finale today was inspired by the BeSpoke Centipede mesh head and the idea I had for the series. For the Centipede head, I took the alien's look in a radically different direction. I added teeth, and tongue. The glasses and crown are by Evil Baby. The Janitor

Death Row Designs has cooked up another fun event for Halloween this year, a haunted hotel! This is my entry to DRD's the "Scarlet Hotel" contest. The story is inspired in part by my time working in the news, and discovering who to talk to for the real scoop. Enjoy. Style Credits below. Contest Details here.

The Janitor

Bobbie R. Murrow was an aspiring journalist who wanted to do a really great “School of J” investigation into the infamous Scarlet Hotel for his high school’s Halloween edition newspaper. His teacher loved the idea. However Bobbie was having a hard time getting past dubious murder rumors, ghost stories, and urban legends. What he needed was facts, cold hard truth, not stories told to frighten children. Surely there was a kernel of truth to the rumors. But what was it? He poured for days in the library hunting for old newspaper stories about the Scarlet Hotel, but at every turn, when there should have been an article about the hotel, that part of the paper was ether cut, or damaged. It was frustrating. His brilliant idea was turning into a nightmare that could threaten his precious grades.

After sighing over his uneaten dinner, his father noticed Bobbie’s sour mood. After explaining the problem, his father smirked, “Son, if you want to find out what’s really going on at a business, talk to the janitor. They see all. They hear all,” he leaned in close for emphasis and whispered, “…They know where all the bodies are buried, if you know what I mean,” he winked and leaned back to stab another slice of steak.

Bobbie was completely stunned. Of course, it was perfect! He immediately formed a plan. 

Later that night after dinner, he stalked the dumpster of the Scarlet Hotel, waiting to see the janitor when he came out to dump the trash.

It was a night Bobbie would never forget.
He found out far more then he ever hoped to know.

Fantasy Faire 2020: The Severed Garden

STORYLINE: "They are waiting to take us into the severed garden. Do you know how pale and wanton thrillful comes death on a strange hour? Unannounced, unplanned for like a scaring over-friendly guest you’ve brought to bed. Death makes angels of us all and gives us wings where we had shoulders smooth as raven’s claws. No more money, no more fancy dress, this other kingdom seems by far the best. Until it’s other jaw reveals incest and loose obedience to a vegetable law. I will not go."  - The Severed Garden, Jim Morrison

The Fantasy Faire was a huge success this year, lots of fun was had by all and $73,572 USD was raised for Relay for Life. Congrats to 700+ Faire staff and designers who helped make this happen, and to all the Faireland visitors who enjoyed and donated. Well done!

Several elements from both the Engine Room and Fantasy Faire inspired this post. From the Engine Room is the Lux Hair from Raven Bell. It comes in multiple fits for men and women. The from and the back are separate, so you can combine hairs or color then separately. Included is a unrigged bow with its own texture hud. Matching up nicely with the hair is the Auxentios Pass version of the Atreus coat by Contraption, which was a Relay for Life item at the Fantasy Faire. The textures for it a wonderful, you can pick out what colors you want for different fabrics from the texture hud. From the Fantasy Faire is this wonderful garden by The Looking Glass. STORYLINE: It was risky flying night time bombing runs over Berlin. Sure, the cover of night would protect the bombers but the bombs rarely landed on their intended industrial targets. Faced with this problem, Winston Churchill had an idea. He called the leader of his secret new ally for help, the Children of the Night. This is how the Crimson Bat rose to fame in the newly formed Vampire Nation. He had been a smuggler working in the Pacific with a stolen Zero, and now he was the leader of the Night Fliers, the fighter escort for the nocturnal Allied bombing raids.

This post was inspired by the Deiselpunk elements at the 2nd round of the Engine Room. This round is even larger than the first, and stuffed with amazing and creative quality items. Don’t miss it! The hat by Ungod comes in brown or black, with wrench emblem or not. The Bomber jacket by Krankhaus has fits for major bodies in both mainstream and anime styles. It has a hud to change the change the textures of many separate texture zones. To add a little more of a vampire twist to the outfit, I used the bat barrettes by Cae and earring by Supernatural like medals for a vampire airman. Lol The eyepatch is from the Military Girl gacha by Silvery K. The pants are a gacha from Riot, Bird of Prey. I wanted a unform looking top to go under the jacket, and found a great solution in the Perseo Space suit by L’Emporio&SL. Adding a bit more DieselPunk elements are the headphone by the forge and belt by Deathrow. The Gloves are by Contraption, and undersuit by Blue Falcon Industries. I had a very hard time finding a plane, thats how I ended up with a Zero instead of a B-17 Flying Fortress. HaroMotors has a lovely Zero with well made insides and outsides, and a very hud with many capabilities.

MAY 4 UPDATE: After a week of waiting, a dead monitor was confirmed to be problem. However the replacement monitor is defective. A new new-monitor will arrive May 13th. The Cheshire Cat in the The Bearded Guy's backdrop inspired this image along with the Tea Party Bento pose chair and table by Wet Cat. In the background, are the Whimsical mushrooms by Celeste. All times from the Madness round of Aenigma.  Over at Neo-Japan, is this awesome SUPER LONG hair by Raven Bell. It looks amazing. There 2 texture zones, inside and outside. And since it's mod, you can add a fun glow to the inside like I did here. The hair comes in fits for women, and fits for men. As you can see above, it can even tuck under you when you are sitting. I think I will be wearing it to death along with the L'Emporio&PL vampires claws. I loved them so much, I got matching Damned Claws for the feet.

Japonica: Year of the Rat

STORYTELLING: A white rat named Itchy and his many siblings, were cold and hungry. There was nothing to eat. Winter could be brutal on tiny creatures. Lucky for them, they were clever rodent-kind! Suddenly, Itchy stood up tall, whiskers twitching. Music! He faced the direction of the wonderful melody. Oh, there was delicious food that way too! He flicked his skinny rat tail as if to say, "This way!," and raced over snow-covered branches and squeezed through tight spaces until the beautiful human home of warmth, music, and food opened before him and his brethren. They were so happy. The humans must have been happy to see them too, since the female screeched, and did a dance with her arms in the air, hopping left and right. Itchy snickered. Humans were strange. He darted across the matt, scurried up a small table, and lifted a ripe orange in his paws. He felt grateful to the humans, so before he left with his ill-gotten goods, he waved a paw back to the humans. It was his way of saying, Thanks.

STORYLINE: "Come into the light," a man's voice spoke softly to Little Bunny. Who was he? Why did she feel so terrible? The last thing she remembered was eating and drinking too much at the Princess Layla's Taste of October party. Her eyes flickered open, and she immediately regretted it. "No... it burns!" The man was holding her tenderly. She would have protested but she felt so weak. "Don't be afraid," he said. "I'm an Exorcist. I've dealt with the Princess. She won't harm you again, at least not until next October. She is banished for now. Sadly, I was not able to stop all her designs. Your life will be different now." Bunny shook her head, "What do mean. I don't understand." The man laid her down gently. "I'm sorry to deliver such sad news. You have been bitten by the Nosferatu. But I will help you, if you trust me."

There's a lot to do for Halloween in SL, just check the Destination Guide, but one you may not know about is the Hakoniwa sim event, by Yazoo Rang and Aslan, veteran creators of many past excellent adventures like Horror Night. 2066: the UPGRADES Hacker

STORYLINE: He leapt under the bowls of the glimmering white city in the sky. The place was the private playground of the Mars Tycoons, those who grew fabulously rich off their genetically engineered slave labor force toiling in the dangerous mines below. He was not strong enough to undo this social injustice. However, he could relieve those-who-had-too-much of their great "burden," and share the ill-gotten loot with those who needed it the most. Each time he stole a priceless Upgrade, he grew better capable of stealing more. It would be only be a matter of time before his fat-cat prey would notice the thievery, and then the real games would begin.

Introducing a brand new subscription box for lovers of all things Cyber, is UPGRADE. The box contains 6 exclusive original items in a Sci-Fi theme. The preorder reduced price at 1000L. After the box's release, that you can purchase it for 1500L from the marketplace here until August 31st, 2019, after which it will be retired: Upgrades subscription box.

Fantasy Faire 2019: The Lion's Gate

STORYLINE: The ear of Lion Guardsman twitched. He was perched high up on the shiny dark blue tile of the Lion's Gate. Far below him, the smooth limestone of Midas gleamed like gold. Oh if only he were a plant, he smiled to himself, this place would truly be paradise. But he was lion, and he was so thirsty. He looked beyond the long hanging vines spilling over the city's walls and pampered potted plants dotted town square. No, it was the gleam of water that caught the lion's eye. It was like a beautiful azure jewel in a setting of gold. It beckoned him. He licked his lips. Yes, it was his job to guard the Lion's Gate and raise the alarm if the Unweaver was sighted in the Fairelands, but surely it would be fine if he took a brief break to quench his thirst.
