CyberFair, Androgyny Event: Game Night (Escape from Club Apophis, 17)

STORYLINE: At Echo’s place, Game Night had always been holy. The walls sweated with posters from forgotten animes, cartridges stacked like reliquaries. A broken CRT flickered in the corner, its light gleaming against the glossy spines of VR headsets charging on the floor. Old consoles slept under tangles of neon wire. Past and future elbowed each other here, welded together into an altar of outcast survival.

But tonight, the altar felt desecrated. The ramen stink had gone sour, heat from the overworked circuits clinging like mildew on their skin. The hum of machinery buzzed thin as a mosquito trapped in a stasis pod. Every pixel of light seemed to stutter, as though the room itself wanted to look away.

The longtime friends sat among the relics, eyes downcast. Plastic dice rested like bones in the dust. Once, this room had roared with their laughter, their curses, their mock battles against faceless mobs. Now the silence gnawed the edges of everything.

No one said his name. The empty seat screamed it for them.

A holo-field flickered above the controller, pixel static drifting like dust motes. The interface resolved, retro-font glowing in sickly neon:

PLAYER 2: METEOR STRIKE
Status: Waiting to log in…

Beside the text hung Jihoon’s old profile image, frozen long before his face turned impossibly flawless. A crooked smile in braces, his lucky hat askew. The boy they remembered. The boy who wasn’t supposed to vanish.

“...So we’re just not gonna talk about it?” Echo finally muttered, shoving a stack of chip bags aside. “He was our guy. Friday raids. Pizza runs. Jihoon. And now—”

Her words bled into the voice that seeped from the battered speakers of the HEXA Herald, glitch-glossy and smug. Lisa Liemawr.

“—banned lithium augments. Combustion risk higher than your grandma’s vape pen, people. Campus golden boy? More like campus fraud. He went boom because he cheated. And let’s be honest, nobody turns that pretty without paying for it. But hey, don’t just take my word for it! Witness reports are in. Kyra, yes, the girlfriend, says Jihoon was desperate to be someone, at any cost. Fame, fortune, flames, baby!” Lisa’s laughter bubbled, synthetic and cruel. “Play stupid games, win spontaneous combustion.”

Plague’s fist slammed the table, rattling a graveyard of half-broken controllers. “She’s killing him twice,” he snarled. “This is so messed up. The guy wouldn't even update to a vision augment. Always said putting metal in your body was just one bad update away from the morgue.” His fist balled tighter, trembling. “I thought he DNA-hacked himself… thought he chose it. God, I thought he wanted to leave us behind.”

The others flinched. They had thought the same. They’d mocked him, shut him out, just like the popular ones always did to them. Jihoon had laughed it off, pretending everything was fine. Pretending—like them—that he wasn’t burning inside.

Echo turned away, her hair a curtain. But then came a shuddering breath, the sound of denial breaking. Her voice spilled into the stale air, soft as a scalpel, merciless as truth.

“I keep seeing him on fire,” she whispered. “In my dreams, he’s burning and screaming, and I try to drag him out… but my hands just pass right through.” Her tears traced clean tracks down her cheeks. “I always fail. And we failed him. We didn’t even ask if he was okay. We just… looked away.”

The confession landed heavier than silence.

Ghost said nothing. He picked up the twenty-sided die, the sacred artifact of their friendship, their last excuse for avoidance. He didn’t roll it. He hurled it into the darkest corner. The clatter echoed, final as a coffin lid.

In the ringing quiet, the group froze. For a heartbeat, it felt like the room itself recoiled. Then Ghost keyed his holo-pad. A map of the city sharpened into view, its glow bleaching their faces. Jae Won University Hospital. The map drilled down through glass and steel until it locked on Intensive Care, Room C, -- YOON JIHOON.

Ghost’s hologram gloves flickered, projecting his urgent sign language into the dusty air, “Done pretending.”

The words hung like a verdict. Ghost turned, his shadow dragging long across the relics as he walked for the door.

For a stunned beat, no one moved. Then Plague’s fist uncurled. Echo scrubbed her eyes raw, standing straighter than she had in weeks. Echo pushed her chair back with a final scrape.

One by one, they followed. Haunted, ashamed, and no longer hiding, they left the mausoleum of play behind.

Jihoon was waiting. ...In the hospital, in their nightmares, in the fire they could never unsee. Whatever had consumed him, it hadn’t been augments, or hacks, or doping. It was something far worse. And they had let him face it alone.

...

Such a powerful and pivotal chapter. This was written months ago, and it was just pure luck that Cyber Fair just so happens to have a major cool game in it! I was just blow away by how neat it was and the quality of the work. I went to the GeckoGames main store to get more help on setting up the game. So here I will pass it along for you, so you can play your own games!

Androgyny Event: Escape from Club Apophis, 8

STORYLINE: In a sanctum buried beneath the neon veins of New Seoul, Dr. Lucien Ginerva reclined like a bored demigod on a hovering chaise. His clothing, if one dared call it that, was little more than suggestion. A silk slip clung carelessly to bone-pale skin; a fur wrap threatened to slither off one narrow shoulder. His legs, crossed and gleaming, ended in stilettos sharp enough to draw blood.

Around him, floating screens flickered and pulsed, casting warped shadows across the cathedral of vanity he ruled. Scattered below his heels were piles of glimmering flex-glass dossiers, stacked like offerings at some grotesque altar. Each one bore the idealized face of a desperate hopeful: socialites craving eternal youth, influencers pleading for patented jawlines, CEOs requesting “predator eyes” for boardroom intimidation. Their holographic portraits shimmered faintly in the gloom.

Unread. Uncared for.

“Cancel them all,” he said, voice like poison poured through a crystal flute.

A delicate chime answered. “But MasterGin, tomorrow is your touch-up session with the American president.”

Gin’s pale, glossed lips barely moved. “Tell him I am otherwise engaged. An emergency of the highest aesthetic priority.”

“Sir,” the AI persisted, clipped and clinical, “He has waited five years. Protocol—”

“Then tell that spineless little statesman to pack a bib and a bucket,” Gin snapped, silk slithering as he leaned forward. “Because if he dares complain, I’ll melt his face off live during his precious State of the Union address.”

The AI hesitated, beeped in protest—then fell silent. Calendars shimmered, appointments evaporating as if scrubbed by invisible hands.

“Good,” MasterGin purred. “I don’t want to look at that hideous old fart anymore.”

The AI, ever rational, replied: “But sir, you are 2,281 years older than—”

A hidden button clicked beneath Gin’s long finger. The AI’s voice died mid-sentence.

Silence fell. A faint trace of clove cigarette curled through the air.

With a sigh, MasterGin reclined once more. His eyes slid toward the mirror.

“It’s showtime, Little Worm.”

His clawed fingers danced across the chaise's sleek interface. A screen blinked alive with liquid ripples as the system connected.

LOGIN: EVILQUEEN
PASSWORD: poisonedapple

The image stabilized. Jihoon’s dorm came into view.

The student stood alone in his dorm, wearing one of the latest deliveries: haute couture lingerie, designed to seduce. The fabric clung to him like a whisper, sinfully tailored, cruelly perfect. He moved awkwardly at first, guilty and confused, then slowly began to pose. One hand rose to the curve of his neck. His other hand, hesitating, hovered near his cheek. A flush crept up under his skin, darkening the angry red burn Minjo had left there, a bruise of guilt made visible. He tilted his chin. Bent a knee. Swayed a hip… exactly as MasterGin had on the red carpet.

And in that moment, something ancient smiled back from the mirror, as if it approved.

A low, pleased rumble stirred in MasterGin’s chest, like a king cobra purring.

“Oh, you delicious copycat,” he cooed, reclining on his chaise like a fallen god. “I didn’t even train you yet.”

He raised a flute of something red and unholy, toasting the mirror feed.

“I think it’s time for some positive reinforcement.”

Beside him, the white snakeskin box pulsed faintly, clinical and elegant, echoing the flicker of black snakeskin box Jihoon’s dorm. The signal link was alive and strong.

MasterGin tapped the screen to zoom in, eager to savor Jihoon’s expression as he pulled the new items from the box: a sleek skincare kit and a pale bottle labeled with shimmering text. SPF 100 Nano Enhanced Sunscreen. As Jihoon read the notecard tucked inside, confusion bloomed on his face.

“Nice sunburn, Little Worm.”

MasterGin roared with laughter, teeth flashing too sharp in the surveillance gloom.

“You’re welcome!” he cried across dimensions. “Mommy takes good care of her special baby.”

But his joy was short-lived.

From offscreen came the crash of the dorm door bursting open.

Jihoon spun in alarm, face flushing so hard the burn scar on his cheek darkened. He snatched up a bedsheet and clutched it to his chest, stumbling backward like a cornered animal.

Gin lurched forward in his chair, claws clicking over glass as he scrambled to reposition the surveillance feeds. The cameras pivoted with mechanical whines, zeroing in on the chaos.

“Temu Scully,” he snarled. “Don’t you know how to knock, bitch?”

Minjo stalked into view, eyes lit with fury, a crude homemade scanner already glowing in her hand. “You were going to hide this from me,” she said, her voice cold and sharp. “Where did this designer trash even come from, Jihoon?”

Her gaze swept the room with surgical precision. Jihoon babbled a string of excuses, half denial, half panic, as he backed away from her, feet tangled in the bedsheet.

Minjo ignored him entirely. Her scanner ticked like a Geiger counter as she moved with a predator’s focus. And then it shrieked. A full spike of interference, as if it had struck raw data. A cloaked signal detected.

She looked up.

Locked eyes with the mirror.

Across the glass, faint serpentine runes flickered, slithering like molten silver just beginning to boil.

“Wait,” Gin barked, straightening in alarm.

But Minjo was already moving fast.

She sprinted toward the mirror, arm raised.

The feed convulsed.

Then static.

Transmission severed.

“NO!”

MasterGin hurled his drink at the screen. The crystal exploded in a flash of sparks and smoke. Gin collapsed back into his throne, face twisted with rage, strangling a crushed velvet pillow like it owed him an apology.

Suddenly, a hush fell over the surveillance chamber.

The velvet pillow slipped from Gin’s fingers. His breathing slowed, caught between a growl and a gasp.

Not quiet. Dead. As if sound had been vacuumed out of the space, along with the air. The cyan glow from his chaise lounge sputtered, dimming like a dying ember.

Then came the hum.

Low. Inhuman.

It rolled through the walls like a slow avalanche, vibrating the glass, the screens, the bones of the room itself.

Gin turned slowly as the air turned cold.

Every surface in the surveillance chamber went completely black.

Then one monitor, dead just moments ago, flared to life.

A silhouette emerged. Towering. Cloaked in something darker than shadow, plated in ancient battle-armor that shimmered like wet obsidian.

The Ruler of the Night.

His gold eyes glowed like hellfire. Unblinking. Locked directly on Gin.

MasterGin’s breath hitched. He immediately averted his gaze, dropped to his knees, and bowed deeply.

“Caught me again, Darling?” he said with a trembling smirk. “Naked ambition. Always such a hazard in my line of work.”

All around him, the mirrored glass began to crack.

And that was when he knew, he was in very big trouble.

Androgyny Event is the inspiration for this whole series, and MasterGin himself is my top model for androgyny. So naturally, I took some time on for this reveal for him, I hope you enjoyed it!

From this round of AE, is the Starlit Endeavor Optica Catwalk glasses. They come with an interactive hud with 20 texture options for different sections of the glasses, and even 3 pose/glasses placement options: worn, hanging from shirt, and held. The glasses are mod, so I change their change to be less round to better fit Gin's style.   ....The Slay Plague claws are a must have if you ask me. They have a more animalistic sharpness to them than most nails. Love it. Legacy Famle, male, and Reborn fits with more options to come.  ....The scandalous Mordessa dress and boa are by YUEBIN. It comes with a rich set of fits. Dress for: Anatomy Male, Belleza Jake, Ebody and v-tech, LaraX, Legacy Female and v-tech, Legacy Male and Athletic, Perky, Petite X, Waifus. Plus male and female pantie options for all too.   ...The smokey glitter eyeshadow is BOM layer from Super Bomb and comes with 11 colors.   ...From Sintiklia is the Jules hair with fits for men and women. And I added a long strand of bangs from Ginko Hair #189.   ...The appropriately themed Smoking Snake cigarette holder by GRAAL is wonderful touch.   ...And finishing MasterGin's look are the sleek stylish Millicent boots by Cult which include male fits.   ...The Setting is built from pieces by Apple Fall, Backbone, Kazza, and Pitya. I changed the look to a more sleep cyberpunk style of several items using PBR materials.   ...One more thing of interest to share, the new Firestorm update includes, built in native, the best 3D figure poser hud I have ever used. I'm dying from the coolness! It's a dream come true. Thank you Firestorm Team.

Androgyny Event: Escape from Club Apophis, 2

STORYLINE: Club Apophis wouldn’t let him go.

When Jihoon finally made it back to his dorm, breathless and shaken, there it was, ...waiting. A box, clad in black snakeskin and bound in a ribbon of delicate pink satin. Tucked beneath the bow, a card read: "Dear Bookworm, you’re going to need new clothes," and signed only with a kiss print in metallic black lipstick.

It was like a cobra, coiled and hissing at the threshold of his sanctuary. A warning: You didn’t escape, I know where you live.

He didn’t touch it. Instead, he fetched a broom and nudged it down the hall like it might bite, then slammed his door and barricaded it with a chair. Just in case.

Later, he scoured his hair with jet-black dye. He didn’t flinch when it scorched his scalp. Let it burn. The neon colors that once screamed *look at me* had to vanish. But even dulled and hidden, the face in the mirror stared back, haunting, doll-like, and impossibly symmetrical. His skin too flawless. Lips too full. Eyes too wide, glowing with a faint pale teal hue that caught light like a gemstone. People stared at him in the dorms, in class, on the sidewalks—like he was someone famous whose name they couldn’t quite remember.

He didn’t know how to be gazed at.

But that was the least of his worries. His body was changing. He felt like he was going through a second puberty, ...no, something stranger. He grew an inch in a week. Leaner, stronger. His voice dropped a register. Even his scent changed, soft, cool, and unnatural.

His friends grew distant. They stopped inviting him to game nights. He overheard one whisper behind his back, “Stupid femboy. Bet he hacked his DNA.”

His skin crawled.

In a panic, he applied to the tryouts of the baseball team. A chance to sweat it out, to prove he was still a man. Nevermind a book nerd like him didn't know the slightest thing about baseball. But the coach didn’t care. Jihoon threw harder. Hit further. Ran faster than anyone. It felt like his body remembered things he didn’t. It was bizarre. They called him a "ringer," whatever that was.

When he returned to the dorm, fresh uniform in hand, he found the sinister box had returned as if it had slithered inside from an open window.

He stared at it for a long time.

The black snakeskin glistened in the low dorm light like it was breathing. The pink ribbon shimmered like silk drawn from a wound. It didn’t belong in his world of textbooks, empty ramen cups, and anime posters. It belonged in that place, -- the place he was trying to forget.

He should’ve burned it. Should’ve thrown it out the window. But his breath quickened.

Maybe there was money inside. Or a clue. Or maybe if he opened it, it would all fall apart like a prank taken too far. Haha. *Funny, guys. You got me.*

That lie was enough.

He pulled the box onto his bed like it might bite. The snakeskin was warm. The lid slid open like it had been waiting for him. Nestled inside in black velvet was a high tech bodysuit, -- white, seamless, strangely soft. A tag sewn into the collar read: "UV REACTIVE BIOPHASIC SHIELDING."

He swallowed. A whisper of a memory returned: "Be careful, Little Worm. The daylight might crack your pretty dollface."

He did feel a sting while at the baseball tryouts, but he thought it was just sunburn.

Medical precaution, he lied to himself. It’s not giving in.

He pulled it on and the fabric adjusted to him like it was memorizing his shape. He looked in the mirror. A runway model. It’s fine, he thought. Just function over fashion.

The smart mirror hesitated, longer than usual, then said: "UNRECOGNIZED USER. Facial ID scan in progress."

Jihoon froze.

The digital display flickered, glitched, then returned: "Subject: Lathandro (GIN AESTHETICA™)."

Jihoon blinked. The display glitched again in a fast cascade of unreadable code and a faint sound, like static trying to speak. Then it was gone. His reflection returned. Normal. Silent.

Probably a bug, he told himself. Just a glitch. Just paranoia.

He reached for his baseball uniform. Now he looked like a jock, or a jock from an ad. The prettiest boy on the team. He barely recognized himself.

Just as he turned to shut the box and shove it out of sight, something caught his eye. ...There was more. Dark sinful garments of mesh, vinyl, leather, and latex that shimmered like oil on wet asphalt. Delicate iridescent fabrics like dragonfly wings. Gloves that ended in points like claws. Stockings spun from sheer, slippery fabric that felt alive under his fingertips. Something futuristic. Erotic. Wrong.

Each one labeled: "Apophis Atelier. Designed to be Seen."

Jihoon backed away, but only a step. His heart beat faster. They looked like fun. They looked like they belonged to someone brave. Someone shameless.

His hands itched. He reached toward the mesh. Just to feel it. Just a little.

I got very ambitious with this post with story, concept, and image. I felt inspired! I hope you all enjoyed the ride and the trip into the Androgyny Zone. The current round of Androgyny Event is still open for one more day.   ...This post's concept came from the Neon Pronoun Signs by Haunt, the idea being Jihoon's search for identity clashing between masculine and feminine. The neon Haunt signs are mod so you can resize them and change the colors. The backing of the sign is a mirror surface. I learned during this shoot, with 4 mirrors in the scene, the angle matters to see a reflection.   ...The Flavia pants and top come in fits for GenXCurvy, Kairo, LaraX, Legacy F, Legacy M, and Reborn. The Fatpack texture hud include 10 colors each fabric section, and an option to hide.   ....For the sporty look, I added the cap, top, and sneakers by Gabriel.   ...The striped socks by Noche are a good fake for a baseball look.   ...I'm a huge fan of baked-on-mesh, or BOM, bodysuits. The Cureless Diabolus is a keeper!   ...Helping create a smooth look to the bodysuit is the Sulfur Gorget by Cruel.   ... The setting is amazing. (Thanks for your help, Akira!) I toned it down to not distract too much from the focus, but it is full of fun details which I may show more of in future posts (see raw snapshot below).   ...My original idea was a story that could play out over the months, as Androgyny Event will be monthly!  I used a Cyber theme because I thought it would be cool twist. However, Cyberfair is up next, totally a happy accident! So there may be more adventures, (or is it nightmares?), for Jihoon in the very near future.
